Well, CD Projekt is getting multiplayer now. So much for my admiration of them

CDPR's Cyberpunk game should be an MMO.

An F2P MMO with micro transactions that's welcoming to casual gamers.

It's not confirmed. TW3 is years away. But still, I'm leery about it. I don't want MP in my TW3.

:(

There's a lot of people that don't wanted a MP on ME3 as well, and there it is making success.

If it's not a cheap MP just for the sake of having a MP, I'm okay with that.

It's like people don't remeber how social gaming used to be. You know arcades and inviting your friends over to play games. Sure, games are fun on their own but they are so much better when experienced with friends.

Being online with people yelling, "f*cking n*gger! F*cking F*ggot!" Is a lot different from being in a room full of your friends or like minded people who like games. The expletives come from modern day multiplayer.

Those two things are not synonymous.

Well, that's like stating you're going to the arcade alone and wanting to play with random people and experiencing the same thing as online gaming and their norm of "****ing ****got, etc", but I'm assuming less trolling back then, haha. Hanar is actually right IMO.

But I guess it depends on the situation. Honestly, I rarely experience anything bad with online gaming and I've been doing it for a while, way before COD blownup.

Arcades are still around. People are just more pleasant to be around in person. Want to add multiplayer? Make a couch co-op. That's how friends play the same game.

Some of you have been too traumatized by BioWare's failures with sequels.

Because multiplayer is bane of our existance, cant you see. There isnt a single game outside with both good SP&MP.

Gears of War 3.

^^The Assassin's Creed series has been solid in both areas. It fits because it's an action game. The Witcher's an RPG, so the concept of multiplayer is a lot different from having it in an action game or a third person shooter.

But rpg's by their very nature have always been meant for multiplayer. Who seriously plays PnP games alone? Granted things have changed but in the beginning playing with friends was something that I expected. CDProjekt also doesn't answer to someone to like EA they have the freedom to take as long as they want to make a game. Witcher 2 took what 4 years almost?

I'd love to play co-op Arena Mode in a Witcher game, a shame I suck at Arena in TW2 mind.

There's nothing inherently bad about multi player games, or about multi player RPGs. This is what RPGs were designed for, in fact.

That said, many of us like an SP computer game with the level of offline content and entertainment that implies, and are far from impressed when a game becomes cheapened by the "release some maps and move onto the next game" focus of MP.

I guess it boils down to whether you trust CDPR to be doing it for the right reasons.

I swear the reaction was much more negative when those rumours about DA3 having multiplayer cropped up. :P

But yeah, whatever really, all you can do is wait and see what the developer does with it. Personally my main beef with multiplayer is that it so rarely features split screen, but that's because I grew up as a console [insert negative word here] and still really enjoy gaming with friends in the same place.

Don't see any reason why a game like TW can't do MP well though, and in fact it seems well suited to it in some respects. Although it does seem like EVERY game simply has to feature some sort of social component now, which is a bit silly.

Nobody plays pen and paper games alone (I hope!). But CRPGs gave us the chance to play RPGs any time we want, and singleplayer very much makes sense there.

It's not amazing but it's certainly a step up from the multiplayer in GTA IV. The main problem is the behavior of the other players. I swear it's even worse than CoD there.

My point was that I think Android is wrong that action games are more suited for multiplayer.

People do play PnP games alone. They even have AI. No different from playing a video game, aside from more depth and more imagination required.

Those too. I really wish I had a PS3 so I can buy the Uncharted series.
