Unauthorized DLC?

Just recently, I had to reinstall steam as it was having difficulties. Now I've reinstalled Dragon Age, and log in with the same account as always, yet the game is telling me I have unauthorized access to the DLC I payed extra for?

So I tested some things, and when I'm not logged in to an account at the time I have all my DLC and everything works fine. But whenever I log in it tells me it's not authorized.

The OP sounds like he actually got the digital deluxe edition as that's the only one that comes with both The Stone Prisoner and Warden's Keep. I occasionally get a message when I first load the game that says the savegame (after I click on "Resume") has certain DLC active that I am not authorized to use and that I need to log in or load another game. However, this has always resolved itself after a few seconds. I just have to hit "Resume" again. I'm assuming that this is due to some lag time between me telling it to reload my last save and the game checking both the local file and the server to see that I'm actually supposed to have those items in my account.

It only took them 6 days to tell me this.

Originally my steam folder was in program files, whiched caused a bunch of trouble, seeing as I'm running Vista. When I reinstalled it I moved the steam folder so it wasn't in program files anymore.
That wouldn't make sense though, because aren't the DLC suppose to be connected to your EA account? I guess it somehow got screwed up. I'll try submitting a ticket.

In my case, this was caused by a system upgrade/cleanup that I ran a few days ago, during which I disabled the "Dragon Age: Origins - Content Updater" service (because I didn't want the game patching itself secretly). In fact, this service is essential for the DLC authorization process. I switched it back to Automatic, started the service, and things are back to normal.
Check that service. Perhaps it's been disabled by an OS patch, or maybe your antivirus software is blocking it. If it's stopped, try starting it manually.
Steam Users / Reinstallers: Check the exec path for your content updater service. If it's still pointing to the old folder (or if it's missing entirely) then you may need to fix the service entry by using the sc command-line utility.

Summerized:
problem: I bought witchhunt and leliana dlc, when I logged in in dragon age, nothing happened.
So I downloaded and installed the dlc with daupdater (go to registered game content and click more info on dragon age dlc)
when I logged in in dragon age, the game said it was installed but anautherized (so no good)
Solution:
open cmd.exe (windows - search) IN ADMINISTRATOR MODE and enter:
'net stop DAUpdaterSvc' and then
'net start DAUpdaterSvc' (without ' ')
that fixed it for me (my dlc was autherized)

Try to start Dragon Age Content Updater service prior to game launching. For this, open Windows main menu, select Run..., tyep "services.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter. In the Services window, look for Dragon Age: Origins - Content Updater service. Right-click on this service and select Start in the contextual menu. Once the service has started, close Services window and launch the game.jojobe71 wrote...
well --join the unauthorized club. i had the problem a day ago. i called tech support they did something. I later bought witch hunt. now im unauthorized. Ive called ea 4 times over the last 2 days. frequent crash, lost my mouse and keyboard function. they fixed the key board. but i still have crash just not as bad. Now this. Im wondering what i doing buying stuff that dont work. Im gona stop. i dont like the idea of having to always connect to the internet to verify stuff. look what happens when things dont go right. I like having he cds and installing everything. this way is such a pain
If the above steps do not solve your issue, check this thread.
Concerning the internet connection, once your DLCs authorization process has been completed, you can log off and continue to play offline.

1) the DLC code was not redeemed on the account you play with
- check that your DLC shows up at this page (http://social.biowar...ntitlements.php)
- if not, redeem the code that came in the box/from digital download provider here
- ensure you are logging into the game with the same email address/pwd used on this site
- depending on server load, it may take up to 1min to verify the content
- once verified (no longer unauthorized), you can play offline from that point onward
2) the DA updater service has a problem
#2 is actually the most common issue, and there are many different reasons it could get into a state that it thinks your DLC is not authorized. The most common of those is that it simply failed to start - this can happen even in cases where it had previously worked.
For all cases, there is a great troubleshooting guide and workarounds in this thread:

This is how I get it to work every time it plays up, which can be quite alot as I mod the $h1t out of my install. So many bug fixes and texture remodels, including the HiRes patch which is gorgeous
I go into Component Services into the search bar, look for the DAUpdaterSvc and stop, set to Automatic, start, then start up DAO again. Fixes the problem for me.
