Poor bat.Why not let the chap stay for the winter or at least gently shoo him/her/it out? Also, bats don't bite, so nothing much to be afraid of unless you have a phobia or something.
My experience is that bats bite and have razor sharp teeth. Maybe yours is different. Maybe you're right. Thing is, to test your theory, it would require getting close enough to see if it is a biting bat or a non-biting bat. At that point, either conclusion is moot. Also, for everyone saying the bat should stay. Dunno if you're aware of this but the dust from bat shi can kill you. Look it up.

The bat is likely looking for somewhere to spend the winter. Try opening a window and let the attic get cold.

Bats aren't scary. Your biggest fear should be bat poop, which stinks and can get everywhere.

Or more bats could come in. I'm not killing the bat if that's what everyone is worried about. I think it may have slipped out the way it came in for the night. But this is bat three. So I'm having someone from animal control come take a look and see what we can do to relocate whatever bat colony is rocking my man cave. I'm all for bats. Just not in my house. I'd even install a bat house on the side of the area they are going in and out through so they don't have to relocate in the winter...just...not in my house. Good thing I already finished DA:O or being away from my xbox would be killing me right now. Wait! Bats eat bugs! DA:O is full of them! I know why the bat crept in! It was hungry!

I'm not sure what the bats around here do in winter, but I suppose they have somewhere they go, because they don't generally come inside houses (that I know of). Also, we don't have an attic.

This would be the easiest way.
If not, buy one of those noise pest removers. The ones you plug in; and if there are no plugs in your attic, just plug it to the nearest wall and use an extension cord to get it as near as possible to the attic.

I actually read online that in the case of bats this can actually attract more bats. Until I become a wealthy millionaire crime fighter, even just one bat in my cave is too many. There's no noise up there last I checked, so I suppose it either went out the way it came in, got tired of terrorizing me, or is somewhere eating a small child. Seeing as bats are nocturnal, I don't think it's asleep.

Bats only eat women who are scared of them, so no need to worry about the children.

If it is, then I'd see a doctor. Your bat might like fruit.

But isn't sulphur and bat guano really useful or something?
A small ball of sulphur and bat guano is the material componant for a fireball spell.

Actually, funny story. I'm all stocked up on bat shi and sulfur. So I don't really need another bat around. I'm pretty sure the only thing you can train a bat to do is have rabies. And finally, practicing my fireball spell around the several thousands of dollars worth of electronics and my entire game collection seems like a poor decision. And it's way too cold to do anything outside. Just ask the bat on that one.

bats in most states are protected wildlife and killing one can bring a seriously hefty fine or jail time!
they help keep insect populations under control
You can catch him. Get some heavy leather work gloves or a net. If you get him hold him at his feet and take him outside and let it go hehe

They will bite in self-protection, and can carry the rabies disease. They do not have any natural aimosity toward humans, do not purposely tangle themselves in anyone's hair, almost none of the folklore is accurate, but they aren't particularly clean or tidy, and I would move one from my attic if it sneaked in.
