I haven't heard from the bat all day today. I'm hoping it found its way out on its own. I still want animal control to come take a look and make sure I'm de-batted. I'll probably end up having to seal the siding where I think they're coming in and will probably put a bat house on the barn in the back yard so they have somewhere to roost whenever it suits them. Again...just not in my house.

weird but true fact a lot of people do not know....
bats in most states are protected wildlife and killing one can bring a seriously hefty fine or jail time!

It baffles me that a person wouldn't assume that about any wildlife.

Will you show a picture of the bat house? ^_^

I know I sound like a terrible old fuss-budget but this might be something to think about. If you live in the UK (ignore this if you don't) then bats are heavily protected. I have a feeling that it's against the law to move them in the winter when they might be roosting. If you call the RSPCA, who are a nice bunch of people, they will probably come and do something about it.

Mind you, even if you don't live in the UK, the Animal Rescue types would probably come and remove him anyway.

[edit: oh dear, i missed out some posts and didn't see that you don't live in UK and robym's posts which were more helpful. sigh - silly Tara - sorry about that]

So after a day of being ridiculed by my coworkers for being afraid of a bat and explaining that bats are a protected species one coworker stated that while they are a protected species they are in fact not so well protected from tennis rackets. Not going to act on this, just thought it was funny.
