Wraith is decent but pales in comparison to the Piranha making the wraith rather redundant.

Indeed Strife, it is decent.
But it is a ultra rare shotgun. RoF buff is very needed.

After reflecting a bit on this, I don't think RoF would do the job.

The Wraith finds itself in an odd position: it does not hit as hard as a Claymore.  It does not have special abilities like the GPS.  And it has a smaller magazine, more weight, and less accuracy than it's "little" brother the Talon before you even bring up the RoF (not sure on the numbers when it comes to damage between the Wraith and Talon, but Talon "feels" almost as strong, too).  That's without bringing the Piranha into it <_<.

Should Wraith hit like a Claymore does?  Probably not.  Would RoF put it on par with the Talon?  Again, unlikely.  I'm actually leaning towards GPS/Typhoon-like abilities, if that's doable in a weekly balance change: some sort of boon against Armor, for instance.  It seems like trying to carve out a niche with conventional stats will end i ndisappointment for one of the guns above otherwise.

That's what I found after my most recent match with it on my destroyer. The 35% RoF bonus was perfect RoF wise but even with the damage bonus it was still very underwhelming.

The clip capacity increase from Devastator mode can make it a 3 shot...I prefer the RoF as an overall approach, but with the Wraith I felt much better with three shots than I did with 2 much faster shots.

@mrcanada: I have it at level V and (if my calculations are correct) an extra 100 or so damage per shot isn't really going to make much difference considering how much health/armor/shields/barriers enemies have on gold.

I wasn't willing to use a respec card to find out myself.  I'm thinking a slight damage boost, 35% RoF boost and a third round in the clip. I'm sure the people that already like the gun may think this is going overboard but I used it on a GI and found it underwhelming. I can only imagine how bad it must feel on something else.

The Wraith is more accurate, and can be effective at a much longer range than the Piranha.

The Piranha is only clearly superior on Platinum, where the majority of the enemies are so large that they are impossible to miss.

A Piranha isn't going to OSK a Centurion with a headshot from 30 meters away.

Well the wraith wasn't killing a marauder with a headshot unlees I was right on top of him. And that was with a class with a damage bonus.

The Wraith just needs to eliminate that hideous delay before reloading, otherwise it's pretty much what's on the tin, a higher damage/lesser capacity Eviscerator.

I've said before it should act like a double barrel shotty

2 QUICK shots, then reload

So yea, jack up the RoF to over 9000!!!!

Not sure if this was pointed out before, but the reload delay seems to be a result of simulating recoil.  Meaning you only get delayed reload immediately after firing a shot.  If your gun has already been empty a moment, it's as simple as 'Cluck-clunk!' and you're good to go.

I know that's hardly a cureall, just a little tidbit to keep in mind when using the gun.  I for one wouldn't mind seeing that feature disappear.

I still feel a RoF boost is needed, regardless of anything else done to it. This would also help alleviate the reload time somewhat. I like the idea of adding bonuses versus armour at the very least, seeing as it and the Eviscerator were supposed to be more effective against it in ME2.

Used it all through campaign as a vanguard, don't like it too much in multiplayer, I prefer the eviscerator, it's lighter and you have that extra shot. It does pretty good damage as well.

I certainly wouldn't object to an extra shot in the clip or an increased ROF, but this ^ is something I really think the gun could use. While I love the gun, it's delay before reloading is awfully slow. If I have any of my own complaints against the gun, that would be it.

IMO Wraith should have more accuracy to make it competitive with the Claymore, GPS and Graal as a "one-shot" (headshot) shotgun, with the consideration that it should be used more as a caster sidearm due to its weight. Could also use one of those "hidden multipliers" to make it competitive with the scoped Talon. More damage up close really isn't the answer, there's already the Piranha and Reegar. That said, the awkward fire rate is definitely off putting, especially when you hit a body shot and don't do enough damage to stagger. I wouldn't support clip size 2 -> 3, but more ROF would definitely be nice.

I only have it at II but I really like it. It was the first gun with which I beat U/U/P, so I guess there's some sentimental value there. Then again, I also like the Kishock, Javelin, and Vanguards while not host.

Gotta admit I support a 'hidden' multiplier for one defense type or another, especially after seeing that the Talon has had them all along. That's dirty pool Mr Talon.
