I didn't know throwing a smart choke on a shotgun made it a damn sniper rifle. Thank you for this information sir, now I can hook up a smart choke and go from point blank to 10ft on a select few classes.

Why nerf any gun? 90% of the guns now completely suck past bronze, so you guys repeatedly go after the style/type of guns you don't like till they all suck? Why not restrict everyone to the orginal guns only, get rid of silver, gold and platinum. Then no one can be upset or demand a nerf to a stricly pve game.

It is a new gun and I for one would like it to actualy be decent.

Oh give me a break...even with smart choke the gun still sucks at a distance...keep it going with ridiculous demands and you will soon be the only one playing the game as any fun factor will have been removed. The weapon is perfectly fine , especially for the squishy Shadow.

1. You know nothing about how I play the game. I was pointing out that the gun has drawbacks to compensate for its strenghts, making it a rather balanced weapon which is useable for gold and platinum matches.

2. We're not all college students... I work hard enough to play for fun when I get home...

Also, I can assure you the Protoman is a good player, we run Platinum games all the time, and not the farming kind either-Bioteams, tech teams, DPSers it does not matter. I am sure you do the same based on you reputation so I'm sure we could run some good games.

Smart choke doesn't help with starting accuracy - to my knowledge, it just decreases the spread from each shot, right? By that logic, all the smart choke does is make it so you can go full auto without worrying about the reticule getting bigger with each shot, right? - nothing to get all hyped up about. It's got decent damage at extremely close range - considering how most people you need to kill at close range will insta-kill you given the chance, or stunlock you into oblivion, I'm pretty sure the Piranha is fine as is.

OP must be used to gold weapons sucking and is shocked to find one actually being gold viable. I myself still prefer the Talon - as it should be, UR trumps R.

I wasn't defending the Piranha, I was telling the crybabies to STFU about nerfing all the time. I don't like the Piranha on Platinum. I go with the Scorpion instead for my back up. I like to give the Banshees pasties with it.

This game isn't equal, the players aren't equal, most player's loadouts aren't equal. There needs to be some badass guns in the game. There sure are enough craptastic ones.

The OP said he is surprised at how much people defend this gun. I am surprised how hard he is lobbying as a nerfherd. hopefully BioWare will leave it alone.

 To those who cry the Piranha with a smart choke = mid to long range: N7 Crusader. Nerf its
accuracy then, based on that logic.

You don't use a SHOTGUN to SNIPE. That is what a SNIPER RIFLE is for. 
If the Piranha gets nerfed, its more than likely that more people will lean towards
the Destroyer, TS with Marksman, and GI for their weapon damage buffs. Not to mention additional gear too.

And we all know what happened to TC because of more people using the GI more than other classes.

Do you nerfers really want to nerf such a excellent shotgun (mine is at X = what a million creds spent on Earth's release date  will get you) and risk losing these three powerful classes to the fate of the nerf hammer, of which one just barely escaped its ruthlessness of nerfing? I sure don't.

Don't nerf it. Buff the Kitana, the Scimtar, and the Disciple. Give them some love.

No it isn't, and there's empirical video proof showing otherwise. The only way to improve it past measured specs is elevation. Your argument is subjective and flawed.

so many weak arguments, I'll have to respond in bulk.

1.) Smart choke most certainly does affect effective range on shotguns. This is a fact which cannot be debated.

2.) The N7 crusader is nothing like a normal shotgun whereas it fires a slug, not pellets. It cannot bypass shield gate and puts out nowhwere NEAR piranha levels of dps. And don't get me started on the weight comparission.

3.) 90% of the guns do not suck past bronze, they just aren't instant win end-alls like the piranha.

4.) Once more I'll say that this gun can still be good but it has to be toned down from what it is now. Cut Clip size, reserve ammo and fire-rate on it by a bit and it will still be good.

The off the wall false agruments you people throw at me just make me look all the more correct.
