I think that people forget shotguns must do large amounts of damage due to the fact that you are this far (<--->) from the Banshee/Atlas/Brute/Phantom that can/will instakill you.

Hmm... trade ONLY 375 shields for 17.5% damage, 15% accuracy and ROF increases... or speed/vision... yeah... that sounds balanced.


It's not even debatable that a class capable of achieving +300% damage will throw a game out of balance.

Wow...7 pages that fast? You really kicked a hornet's nest didn't you pally? :o

I think it could use a tiny nerf. From 8 to 6 shots, and an extra bit of weight (wouldn't bother Devastators or Batarians much). RoF, accuracy, and damage are all fine. Even on my GI on Platinum, I have to Amp the everloving hell out of it before it feels Godly. And if you gotta use Amps, I don't blame the gun outright.

This thread is one of the most entertaining ones in awhile-other than the lame apple struddel stuff. On subject, the Pirahna is going to get nerfed; the DPS is too high on every class and the accuracy is plenty fine with a smart choke-tip, hip fire it. The light weight makes the Pirahna the go-to-gun on all classes, even caster classes, because the dps will out perform any BE or TB damage. Take of your blinders people and take note of how many are using this massive DPS shotgun in lobbies.

It dosen't need to be nerfed into oblivion.  It needs to get toned down.

But just about everyone who has any desire to win uses equipment on Platinum... and equipment drops super fast now... playing Platinum, getting 2 Spectre packs per match = pretty much unlimited equipment. One match uses 3, get minimum 4 back... sometimes 6-8.

I see a lot of people who complain about the Piranha being OP, citing how amazing it is on a GI. They also call for an encumbrance increase to compensate. However, weight doesn't matter that much to the classes which make the gun shine, such as the Destroyer, GI, or Turian Soldier.

This would only prevent caster classes from using the Piranha, and I don't understand how that would make the gun less effective in the hands of the weapons based classes, which is what most people complain about and use for examples of how a gun is "OP".

No matter what, there will be guns which will be amazing on weapons based classes and mediocre on other classes.

That being said, I'd be okay with the Piranha getting a small damage or ROF decrease. It would still be a great gun, and there would again be more variety of guns in lobbies for all classes.

Boo-goddamned-hoo. My way is at least fair to the playerbase. So here's a fun test we can do right now.

All future posters, give +1 DNC if you want to nerf the Piranha.

Give +1 Jaimas if you want to buff all the other guns instead.

Both are excellent shotguns.  But they are heavy.  Without human 20% passive or Krogan/Cerberus shotgun passive both weapons at X give you a 4.08 sec Charge CD.  Plus they are charged shotguns which changes your play style.  The Charge, Shotgun, Melee playstyle from ME2 is really only effecient with the Reegar and the Piranha.  The Talon and Wraith are UR and the Crusader is promotional and heavy.
