The application was purchased via steam and is the deluxe digital download edition, running under windows 7 enterprise x64.
From steam a user may select a number of options when double clicking the dragon age origins icon - to bring up the launcher specific to the game, or to launch the game without viewing the launcher.
In both these cases the game does not launch. The dragon age launcher can be executed and appears correctly, but on hitting "play" the launcher immediatly closes without any displayed error message.
It appears that the error message is being suppressed by steam, potentially as it is lauched as a child process of this application - I have no idea. When running the application daorigins.exe from the installation directory directly an error message is displayed complaining about incompatability with physxloader.dll in the windows system32 directory.
This file does not exist in the system32 directory. However, nvidia drivers 191.07 (build 8.16.11.9107) report that physx is already installed as part of the driver package when attempting to reinstall physx manually from the extracted nvidia installation package.
The error message appears as follows:

Attempting to run the application "as an administrator" and/or in compatability for windows vista sp2 does not resolve the issue.
Examination of the security and application logs at the time of steam app decompression does not show any attempt to place physxloader.dll in the windows\\system32 directory.
Any thoughts appreciated.
