It sucks because the character design and voice acting were spot on. If his character had been written better he would have been spot on. I was excited about Kai Lang. :/
exactly, thats what my title means behind the fun Dark Knight reference lol

Character design?
The man looks like a Power Ranger.

That's not true. Shepard already became an idiot right after the end of ME2 when Shepard chose to let himself be detained for six months while doing nothing at all against the imminent end of all life in the galaxy via unstoppable death robots.zeypher wrote...

But really, considering the end of the game, he makes perfect sense
Not reeally though. His ability to render all weapons aside from the M-3 Predator and M-8 Avenger useless is really annoying. Especially when its about 6 shots from a fully ramped up black widow to kill him. I kept yelling at shepard to pull that rifle, especially when he's running off on that car. The rifle designed to pierce TANKS would come in handy there with making him crash and die.

Actually going through ME1 right now. I am surpirsed how stupid his repsonses can be. Also just a head if you counter you choose him to say this. No I do not for some of them, some of them all three options are exactly the same. This is a Space Opera, the hero is not going to be the super-genius, he is the everyman.
Also what hurt ME3, is their villains where not charismatic or compelling compared to the previous two games. That is what hurt Kai Leng, little depth of him in the game, and writing for the VA was bad, while the VA was good. Which made it okay. Nothing though like Saren and TIM in the previous games.

Very nice. ;p
And I totally agree. I'm glad they killed off the baddie in 1 and made room for new enemies, but I wish they had made it someone that was less obnoxious and more legitimate and believable than the "evil" certain someones the KKK were "heroically" fighting off in The Birth of a Nation.*Cthulhu42 wrote...
Are you implying that Shepard didn't have his/her fair share of moments of extreme idiocy back in ME1? Because I recall Shepard comparing the FCW to the genophage and asking if asari could reproduce with their own species.zeypher wrote...

The difference between these lines is that in ME1 you could usually (if not always) decide to say stupid ****, where in ME3, oppositely, you can't (would you rather say something stupid, on your own will, and be embarassed and take whatever consequences as a result of saying it, or have someone else completely trash your reputation/fail to represent your opinion/get you into deep **** by talking for you, and saying something stupid?). The only problem (and this applies to all of Bioware's recent games) is that the paraphrasing isn't always effective at telling you what you're going to say, thus you may expect a different result and be dissappointed or frustrated by what you actually get - it's happened to me more than once. It's one of the reasons I liked Dragon Age: Origins better on the matter of dialogue trees (and, note, I think I like Mass Effect more on a personal level).
Though I think most lines were, indeed, more intelligent. Or, at least, better written. But I'm getting way off topic.
*(To clarify the metaphor, if it sounds like it's something else: I'm saying Kai Leng is as ridiculous a villain as the "gonna rape all your wives" "evil" black man stereotype of a pro-KKK silent film made in 1915. Albeit much less offensive.)
Please....a lot of ME1's lines, especially early in the game nearly reach "whats a paladin" levels....sorry but as an officer, he should have an education on how the galaxy works.
It doesn;t matter, even if a stupid line is choosable, its still stupid. "Whats a paladin" being an example. Nevermind no paraphrasing in Ultima IX.
ME3's dumbest line is far smarter than ME1's or ME2's.

Benezia is the worst Mass Effect villian...her lines were atrocious and her VA was bad.....just because you have a Star Trek vet doesn't mean she is a good VA.
As an Officer and an XO, there is no excuse to his or her stupidity in the beginning of ME1.
Whats a paladin....its close to this at points of ME1.
