Wait, you want to get rid of the two classes who can make Shotguns accurate even if they're also unable to dodge and can't fight up close?

Really?

Those 3 classes get accuracy, ROF and damage buffs that make shotgun such as Claymore and Piranha into sniper rifles. Meaning they can be used from safe distance from cover with MASSIVE damage output. That's not what shotgun is for.

Crusader is a sniper shotgun for example. But it fires slugs that don't ignore shieldgate.

GPS can snipe too and is a little OP but you gotta charge it to make it really powerful.

A shotgun is suppose be a mostly close range weapon (Crusader, GPS excluded), yet some classes, such as Geth, Destroyer and Turian can make them into sniper rifles that ignore shieldgate. You can snipe with those classes across maps with no problem.

So just disable the accuracy bonuses those classes gets for shotguns ONLY. I mean I get that Smart Choke tightens the pellet spread. It's a physical mod that goes into the weapon. But making a shotgun accurate using space magic built into your trigger finger is stupid.

Problem solved. Now we can have our Piranhas, Raiders, Claymores and new weapons too.

I don't understand what the problem is?

It's crying because 2 - 3 toons can use a shotgun as a better sniper than an infiltrator with their sniper ......

I disagree, I think shotguns are fine the way they are and to use them like a "sniper" as you say they need to be in a class that is built to make it like that, and to put on the correct amps and mods.

So its not an open problem like how the krysae was.

Just to add to your point, shotguns IRL using a standard 12 gauge shell are effective at +100 meters.  It makes no sense for the effective range of 22nd century weapons to be nerfed.

If anything, the effective range should be increased.

do we really need anything to be changed for the worst with platinum ?

According to the nerf ducks that worship the ground of the 0.01% of the community that can solo platinum with a level 1 drell with no skill points spent and a preditor X ... Yes we apparently do still need to be nerfed while the enemies get buffed.

how ironic is it that you don't hear the people who can solo platinum complain

Hmmm, there are some good points made by OP. I do not see the crusader as needing a range limit... considering it's trash anyway.

I do miss the shotgun they had in Doom. That was a nice gun!

To be fair, I always hated the shotguns that are only effective from few meters. I don't exactly support this idea myself.

In game mechanics don't reflect real life ones, however. Nor should they =P

This is a horrible idea that would gimp the one true advantage the Turian Soldier has. I don't get this argument that accuracy bonus is the problem, but somehow the +300% damage capable with the GI is fine...

Look if the GI would need to get close to do that 300% more damage - fine. He's squishy, uncloaks and gets shot to pieces. But now I can stay there on top of Dagger and 1 SHOT BRUTES with Claymore. same with Turian or Destroyer.

You know. I love GI + Claymore combo. It's stupidly powerful. Some guys will be busting thei ballz running around the map and getting shot at, while I'm just sniping from range and scoring 150k+ on Gold EVERY SINGLE TIME without breaking a sweat.

No. He is proposing getting rid of the accuracy bonuses said classes get for shotguns only. Those classes would still be better with any shotgun because of their damage bonuses. The Turian Soldier suffers a bit more from this than the GI/ Destroyer, but that is a sacrifice I'm willing to make if we are to prevent guns like the Piranha from getting nerfed and made useless for all the other classes. I'm pretty sure the Turian Soldier has buffs coming anyway, and the class was always intended for rifle use.

They don't because they just move on to the next best weapon as their fallowers then cry for that to be nerfed. Epeen damage is what runs the nerf/buff threads that BioWare fallows. If someone is better than the nerfducks at anything then it is suddenly over powered and need nerfing. Then the lifeless players that can solo the hardest difficulty without even trying just move on. It's how it works. The nerf ducks just ruin the game for the average players.

Or we could make Sniper Rifles actually function like Sniper Rifles instead of overly heavy pistols.

Stupidly powerful yet I never see anybody use it along with the like 2 players I have seen do it not do anything close to what you suggested. What are you basing this on? Bronze?

My GI is specced to use the GPS, so I'm not specced into the accuracy talent in Hunter Mode. Sometimes I switch over to the Claymore and It still works like a charm :)

I snipe atlases with AP ammo from a decent distance with him with the smart choke :(

It says GOLD there in the post. There are people here in these forums that will confirm you that I have done this and I can do it now with EASE.

Better fix:

Javelin/Widow/Mantis no longer affected by Shield Gate

R6 Evo of TC now 50%.

Where's my check, BioWare?

I always had a hunch that accuracy bonuses is a little glitched, what i mean is it affects shotguns in a much better way than other guns. Example is the piranah with a smart choke and hunter mode makes the spread like 200% smaller wen the bonus is not nearly that much

GPS is tricky to use with a GI. You have to charge it and you have to be careful not to break cloak while doing it. So GPS is kinda okay. Powerfull, but okay.

When you have classes that are primarily gun reliant, of course they are going to be better with guns...

(edit:  my /topic seemed too condoscending and did not mean it to be. My apologies. :)   )

Take a Mosberg 500 buckshot and shoot at some barn door.

Now imagine I'm a freaking awesome soldier. I shoot the same Mosberg at the same door. You think the spread is gonna be less?

I don't know. I think Hunter Mode and Tactical Cloak together just throw a lot of things out of whack in this game. Changing one class of weapons will do a little to ameliorate that, but there will still be numerous balance issues that will be complicated by the GI.

Do we know whether this is a change that could be made without a fairly high-level patch, anyway, though?

Edit: readability

Applying some real-life mechanics to video games would not hurt anyone.

It's a slight nerf to prevent more SEVERE nerfs.
