Knock back
Stun : 3 seconds

Dragon Kick

Required : Level 3
Flying in the air to give a powerful kick on target.

Activate on target

Physical Force : x3
Damage : 100%
Knock back
Stun : 3 seconds
Range : 12 meter

Upgrade  : Critical damage + 10%

Unforgiven
Required : Level 5
Chain of attacks toward single enemy.

Activate on target

5 hits
All hits are normal damage
Finishing move maybe throw or locking technique

Upgrade 1 : Chance to stun 50%
Upgrade 2 : All hits are critical damage

Harmony
Required : Level 7
Martial artists know their way in combat, reading enemy movement and tactic

Sustain

Attack : +20%
Defense : +20%

Upgrade 1: Critical chance +10%
Upgrade 2 : Critical damage +25%

Well, this is just an idea :P

Sounds interesting. Although if there is to be a fully supported unarmed option in DA3 (which I doubt), for me to find it believable the class would have to be very magic-y.

How would such a class/specialisation fit in the overall narrative of the game?

This would be better if it didn't sound Oriental...
There aren't even any Asian people to teach the white people how to fight Kung Fu...

Since Alienage Elves are forbidden to use weapons, some of them, in some part of Thedas, could develop such fighting style.

I could go for an unarmed fighting style, but I would be more in favor of "dirty" fighting sort of thing than this, which tbh sounds too much like a stereotypical monk to me.

Monks were dirty fighters?

Well, we know Mages are capable of enhancing physical performance through magic. We've seen that with Arcane Warriors, Magic scales into Strength. We know from various spells and auras that Mages are capable of shielding themselves from physical attacks, to a certain degree. We also know that Mages are capable of increasing a person's rate of movement.

All of which would be ideal for a Fast-Paced Unarmed Specialization.

Some form of permanent aura that increases armour by a certain amount means that armour wouldn't be required. Causing physical damage to scale with Will or Magic would allow for reasonable damage. Creating various forms of "Magical Fisting Things" (to use the words of Isabela) would be entirely possible with a class that's built on magic.

I'm fairly biased, i'm a huge fan of the Monk class, but it's an idea that would be entirely possible. I would also, personally, find it enjoyable to play.

Exactly, surely if there will be a City Elf rebellion or something, they would have such fighting style.

Some Karate school have been developed by peasants and farmers as far as i know, they are not samurais or soldiers, so they develop unarmed fighting against pirates and bandits. So maybe similar situation can be applied to City Elf?

it doesn't have to be Asian-like, maybe making it a mix of WWE style and boxing?

but DA2 already have too much Kung Fu in it, if anyone realize it or not...look at how Rogue-class fight

I think both Warrior and Rogue class can have this combat style, and it can fit all Specializations.

Templar, Berserker, Reaver, Shadow, Duelist and Assassin ..all can fit in. It just a combat style, instead of using weapons, using fist and leg.

The animation may include using elbow, knee, head, human body as weapon

Damage calculate on Strength, Dexterity and Cunning

Well...mage also can have this combat style...Force Mage, Spirit Healer, Blood Magic...all can.

How apostates want to hide they are apostates?
By not using staff

I dont support the idea, because there has never been a person on the face of the planet in all its history who ever became a better fighter by putting a weapon down and fighting unarmed.

However, I could tolerate such an idea if it was a mage specialization, where the mage learns to channel the magic into their bodies to enhance them and when they strike their opponents they are impacted by magic. You could even make a corny excuse about how the magic flows through the mages body easily but will not flow through a held weapon.

Well, if put it that way...no single person on earth in all it's history kill a dragon by using dagger/knife...

Yep, I agree there. I'm not really into the whole monk thing for a franchise like Dragon Age. Although, for some reason I can see the Desciples of Andraste being monks, rather than reavers. I mean, monks don't have  to be good, do they?

The only precedent I know of in DA currently are the Silent Sisters, who train in unarmed combat.

Sylvanpyxie wrote...

Totally not what he said. He said "... but I would be more in favor of 'dirty' fighting sort of thing than this." He is referring to a street type of fighting, rather than a refined martial type. Going along with this, you could certainly have such fist weapons as brass knuckles or the cestus, and just beat your enemy to a bloody pulp.

Unfortunately, I think this is the reason a fighting style of this type would have to have some sort of magic element to it, hence going back to monks and their use of chi as a power source and so forth.

Or you could make it "magical" warrior spec like Templar and Reaver.

edit:  Though I believe there is an unarmed fighter in the books.

Thanks.

The numbers and skill name can be changed due to balancing and theme. Just replace those numbers with "X"

The only problem is damage tier, since all other talents use weapon tier for damage multiplier...maybe we can use similar to mage? For a mage, magic points add to damage directly to their skills. While this one it is not the case, for auto attack there will be no multiplier...unless there are specific items and gear for unarmed combatant, such as robes, sash, head gear, gloves, boots...ect

I change my mind about WWE style...i think most suitable style is kick boxing, punch, kick, using elbow and knee...mostly hit enemy rather than throw and lock...but of course not too obvious kick boxing, just make it DA style of kick boxing

Yeah Utha the lass who walks around with the architect is a silent sister in the book and beats quite a large amount of darkspawn to death.

Personally I wish there were far more unarmed combat systems in games so i'll always support this stuff.

This is SO inaccurate.  Weapons are tools--specialized tools.  In some situations they are appropriate, and you use them.  In some they are not, but your hands ARE.  Or your elbows.  Or knees.  Beliefs like this are part of a mythological view of combat where the point is to "inflict damage" on your opponent and the winner is whoever can do the most damage.

In real life, the point of a fight is not to "do damage" or "get kills".  The point is to accomplish your objective, whatever that may be.  Or, as Sun Tzu put it: perfection in war consists of so demoralizing your opponent that he gives up without a fight.

In games, the reality is swept away because there's usually no objective other than "kill all of these dudes" and no way to accomplish that other than to "do damage".  So, if they do unarmed combat at all, it's just another way to "do damage".

I, personally, wouldn't mind having an unarmed path that consists 100% of CC and instant-kill effects, none of which actually do any damage.  That would actually be interesting and add some much-needed variety to the game systems.

It's not like monks don't exist in other rpgs. If Bioware wanted to add something fresh to the franchise, then why not hand to hand combat? As acrobatic as rogues were in DA2, I could see them using their hands and feet. I'd just picture a melee rogue without the daggers.

Yes, actually that where the idea comes from. Rogue attacks always jump first, why not making a flying kick?

Did you know that ninjas were originally farmers who rebelled against Samurai who held their status over them. And since they were farmers without official training or specialized equipment, they developed a style to avoid honorable combat whenever possible. To a ninja, cheating was simply a clever way of winning. Blind the opponent, cripple them, poison them, and kill them them from behind, while they're down, and it wasn't fair at all.
