I guess I don't give them credit for a vague ending with no closure. So yeah if DLC doesn't provide that then I'm going to want some answers. Bioware isn't getting another dollar from me until one or the other happens. If they want to lose a customer until ME4 launches years from now, then so be it. And honestly ME4 with synthesis as canon can burn in hell

IMO, it's already burning in hell, along with the entire rest of the damn series.

I'd say it's sizzling, there still is a chance to save it, but if they fail, it will catch fire and burn.

Oh, that's a damn good comparison... which I unfortunately do not agree with.

EDIT: Top!

The fans absolutely deserve a straight answer by the time dlc is all wrapped up. We've been defending Bioware and our loyalty should be rewarded with at bare minimum the truth

Damn right. This thread has withstood countless troll storms simply for believing theres more to this backwards ass ending than meets the eye.

But would you accept the truth freely, even though it wouldn't be what you want?

I would. But given the overwhelming evidence gathered, one can make fairly safe assumptions as to what the truth will or will not be.

I expected that answer...

You all seem to forget, that mass effect is a very personal journey at it's core essence. You can't be told what happens in your story. The story is there for you to live it and understand what it means for you personally.

As Rifneno more or less put it:
"Pay me to have you write the story for me" or something like that

Look at it this way - ME2 was a huge success. After it - given that ME3 is the last game and the series ends -  they can do ANYTHING with it. It porbably got high profit on preorders alone.  It could be the worst game of all time, but it would still be a success financially.
The only thing that is at stake - is your future rep. - which really isn't at stake either. With ME3 coming to an end no future IP would be tied to it's merits, so not really a factor - bioware already got all the negativity for DA2 (that is a serious blow - they still have to make a DA3, and fantasy RPG are much more plentifull than Sci-fi RPGs. In that sense Mass Effect is a monopoly - you can go as low as you care to and still profit - custumer has no alternative.)

And so, when you are at a point that you're about to make a game that already is profitable by pre-orders alone, and will be profitable regardless of its quality - you can really do anything with it.
And sonce you can do anything - WHY NOT DO THIS? Why not split your game in two parts? Movies are doing it all the time. (ever since Back to the future they usially make the second and a third part on one single budget and treat it as a single movie, while they are filming it. Recent addition is splitting the last part of your huge franchise into a two parter)

Really? Why not do this?
You'll be fine profitwise anyway.
Dmage to your rep... This is EA we're talking about. What rep? Can you really tell me that something can damage their rep at this point? They are ALREADY the worts company in america. Gamers hate them worldwide. They are the FOX of gaming. Even worse. There can be no damage to their rep. Only possible outcame - if they do something creative, like the IT - their rep will actually improve! If they fail at that - they lose nothing.

And that is the most expensive story telling you'll ever get. ))

And that is not true by the way. The uber story - it is up to you, but the parts - they provide you with them. And there some most awesome parts outthere in ME universe.

Personally I actually don't mind the whole have six hours of filming and release it as two movies. The only thing I want to see is entertainment for 2-3 hours. Imagine they split LotR III into two parts. Instead of a 4 hour marathon you get 2 movies of 2.5 hours length. If the quality is the same, I'd enjoy it.

A franchise in the gaming industry that has taken a similar route is the Starcraft II franchise. At the beginning they planned to have three campaigns and a Blizzard style addon. Now we have the main installment and two addons, each with their racial campaign. If the content is just too vast to be deliverd in one installment, I'd rather want to have it cut into two games than have half of the content cut, because of time restraints.
This does not mean, though, that I support day one DLC or a drop in quality!

Oh, don't get me started on SC2 - that's the biggest rip off in the history of gaing and NOBODY complains, and everyone adores Blizzard.

That's why they are Blizzard. Though comparing the hours spent playing that game and what I paid for it...
I think I have a good score at €/hour.

I can't seem to successfully get it. Something always ends up going wrong, ad I end up either getting Emi's or Hanako's.
