I think the cake was decided to be a birthday cake for Shepard, which would be sometime in April, I believe? There's also a jack-o-lantern, which would probably be a MP DLC based on the success-success-failure then MP DLC pattern for operations and the fact that it's time for one anyways, and a Christmas present, an actual Easter egg basket, and a box of chocolates for Valentine's Day, I think.

Actually, the only time we got an MP DLC immediately after an Operation failure was the Earth DLC. Some people think the cake is in reference to Mass Effect 1's 5-year anniversary (which is in late November), but it could very well be Shep's bday instead.

True, but we got Rebellion only a few weeks after Silencer. Still, the point about the jack-o-latern meaning Halloween still stands.

So let's try again...

Leviathan - August, Cake?
Omega - October?, Jack-O-Lantern? (Reference to Halloween, hence October)
Act 3 DLC - December?, Present? (Reference to Xmas, hence December)
Epilogue DLC - March?, Champagne? (Reference to Anniversary (1 year since launch), hence March)

Or is there something else that we are missing?

It would make sense to drop Omega on October 30th (close enough for Halloween). Launching it on November 6th (same day as Halo 4) would be foolish.  The week after that (Black Ops 2), would be equally as bad.

Has there been any updates on how we are doing with the op? Trying to decide if I really need to go smash some Atlases before bed...

No. They only updated one Operation on the fly and never did it again. However, given that the goal is 1/5 the requirement of the last "Kill bosses" Op (3,000,000 Banshees), we should pass it with ease.

Can't recall any DLC launches coinciding with AAA releases up until this point. Dropping alongside the two biggest selling franchises would not be bright.

But now we have a fourth option.

It's a perfect fit for the Indoctrination Theory because it gives us the option to say NO! without messing up what was the authors original vision. The fact that it kicks you in the nuts a moment later is immaterial because an IT fan thinks it’s all a dream anyway.

It is material...

Before the starchild, Shepard wanted to use the crucible to destroy the reapers...
Now he doesn't...

Successful mind**** is successful...

I don't think I've seen him around lately.  But you're right, I shouldn't tempt fate like that.  I don't know if BSN has the bandwidth for another series of Arian's walls.

What...in the hell... is the Strawberry Chocolate Cake a symbol of o_o. I gotta figure this out, did anyone else come up with something compelling?

Posted Image

Anniversary? Birthday? ME1 released Nov 20, 2007. Bioware celebrates with cake? Hm, coincides with Thanksgiving also, and the absence of a Turkey. Other symbols, obvious holidays. The Cake, not so much.

I just had a thought...do you think the Leviathan dlc was kind of a "Indoctrination primer" for new mass effect players?

Yes, but don't forget we now have 2 alternate-reality/in your mind events in ME3, and one in ME2.

Overlord in ME2, Leviathan and the Geth consensus in ME3. The consenses is important because it's in the base game.

EDIT - Also... how is it that EDI becomes alive in Synthesis? Before synthesis she is "remote controlling" the EVA body. So the body isn't really EDI. After synthesis are there 2 EDI's now?? Or is she enthralling the EVA body? I am truely confused...

Nice catch.

Wow. Replaying ME1, Sovereign's speech of Virmire still gives me the chills. I just can't believe they could write the Reapers so well early on and then drop the ball this hard.

On a related note, you probably need to rethink your romance flagging process if an experienced player with console access has to leave someone holding a fission bomb to avoid winding up with them.

Reality of IT being made a part of the ME3 franchise? I'd peg it at 35%.

BW has a history of at least trying to incorporate customer input, some of which can be seen in DA2 and ME3. Examples include the Reporter (Kaleenah Al-Jilani?), Zeveran (former Crow) and the return of the Original Squad in ME3.

The EC showed that BW (or EA) had some panic going with the very, very large reaction to the original ME3 ending. Most telling was the donation drive with over 50,000 (probably more like $80,000, not sure) votes given to show disapproval.

Over 833.33 brand new ME3's could've been bought with that, and probably paid a years salary for some programmer. People take notice of that kind of thing.

For IT...frankly it has a lot of thought, imagination and downright brilliance paid up. But it has no monetary value, nothing to compare with. Where does it go from here?
