Was the Ending a Hallucination? - Indoctrination Theory Mark III!

Since alot of people seem to like refusal, or at least think it better than control and synthesis, and consiering how alot of people have tied it into IT, do you think that the Refusal ending was planned to be included in the game at some point? Maybe in future DLC rather than in the EC since that wasn't planned? Or does it seem more likely that Refusal was just another ending they added to please fans that wanted an option where the Reapers win?

That is an excellent question. There has been some debate in the past as to whether refuse is better than destroy as well. I dare not claim to know the opinion of everybody in this thread, but I think the general consensus was that it was not planned to be included in the game. It was only added in to please fans who didn't like the endings and wanted to shoot the kid. This is just another reason to pick destroy in my opinion. Being inactive will leave you in the hallucination, because the reapers don't want you anymore, and you have not chosen so you remain there.Arashi08 wrote...

Adding the existing scenes of Refuse and those slides plus some dialogue with the kid could've been a way to flesh out the endings.

My long response to that guy was actually serious.
Just challenging his views, is all.
No need to terrorize the thread more than we did.

Needless to say, I discovered our walled garden is much like Rivet City from fallout 3, while the rest of the site is nothing more then a wasteland of ignorance, stupidity, violent trolls, and... well... just stupid people with stupid/hateful thoughts.

Are you implying that we start some sort of Crusade Of Illumination?masster blaster wrote...
So what next the Synthesis thread. Or the other threads that disclam IT. If we are we have to make a group list to go into each thread, but only do quick strikes, not stay there for hours.

Are we so board and out of things to talk about ATM that we have to activly attack others for there opinion that just happends to be wrong?masster blaster wrote...

So is it just me or have we lately been going from thread to thread telling, and arguing with everyone that IT is not dead, nor did Bioware say it was?
It's true, I have been going around anti-IT threads lately, bringing up strong arguments and standing up for IT. I noticed others have done this too.
Careful though, we really shouldn't troll deliberately. I just had to challenge that guy's views in the control support thread. All I wanted to do was make him think.

Don't become the monster....unless they are trolling/flaming in the first place (then it's fair game =) we shouldn't be disrespectful, like DD said. Not talking about what happened in fixer's thread just to be clear. That guy...lol that guy earned it.masster blaster wrote...
Eradication to be more exact Restrider. Jk, but if we are going down that road I am okay with that. It's high time we fight fire with fire.

Jade had a pretty awesome thought that refuse was always their plan to reveal later, which may either cause victory through refuse, or breaking indoctrination though refuse, because it would not involve Shepard doing nothing after the speech in that scenario. Instead, they added it prematurely and in an imcomplete fashion to the EC to quell some fan-rage.Arashi08 wrote...

I think whether Refuse or Destroy is 'better' is an ethical question. It's an 'ends justifying means' problem. Genocide is such an atrocious and abominable thing that no-one could see it as a rational answer to anything. Yet in ME3 it is exaclty what we are asked to do.
Some could say that the fact the life to be exterminated is synthetic makes a difference. It certainly would have been interesting if the race(s) to be wiped out were organic races - imagine if all council races had to die to stop the Reapers. Or all humans.
Anyway, the alternatives are, put simply: join the Reapers, play God, or refuse to do anything. Ethically, the last one seems promising, but it entails letting all advanced races die: all Krogans, all Asari, all humans, everybody. So some might say that it is better to do this, to let everybody die, than it is to actually kill an entire race of sentient living beings to survive. It's obviously open to speculation. Never was supposed to be an easy decision.
Also, the Refuse point brings me to something I wanted to ask you IT guys. Destroy is the only ending where Shepard can rise, post-battle, in London, but as I understand it, many of you guys think that Shepard is unconscious in London all the way through the end. So why doesn't he wake up after all of the endings?
You could say that it's because, if he has become indoctrinated, he is no longer Shepard. But this doesn't apply to Refuse. Do you think that by refusing, he gives up on life and dies on the battlefield instead?
