Come to think of it, it does look a bit like he lost it. Maybe Leviathan shot it off!

Harby is the Leader of the Reapers, and the Leviathan tried to kill harbinger, but failed. Hence why it killed a Reaper that was suppost to be Harbinger, but missed the shot and took out Harbingers front leg, and hit the other Reaper. Causing it to be an out cast.

Interesting theory.
