War Assets against the Crucible being a Space Battery:

What's interesting is that the one that proves it's not a battery is the one just added in Leviathan.

-- Snip -- to avoid quote pyramid of doom

Hmm, so the features of the crucible are that:

- It's powered by a reaper tech
- Has a custom-built VI to control reactor output
- Converts dark matter to dark energy (maybe a bit of a reach on this one)
- Has massive parallel processing capability and the ability to communicate with other AI/VI systems
- Can plug into the mass relay network and take control of it
- Can detect reapers anywhere in the galaxy when so connected
- Can discharge a massive amount of energy
- The energy discharge is not deflected by the magnetosphere of any planet in its path - so anything on a planetary surface will be affected the same as anything in space

There are two side-effects to discharging the crucible:

- Huge pressure build up in the crucible structure
- A small, localised distortion to time

The AI/VI capabilities are interesting - almost as though the crucible could qualify as a synthetic life-form of sorts. :alien:

Yoinks! My first top...

So I just came out of that thread made to mock IT. Is it just me or could you guys imagine having an Illusive Man conversation with that guy seival? Actually you guys pretty much did lol.

You should see his Normandy crash scene support thread, or his stargazer support thread. From the look of it, Seival isn't a person you could argue with.

You could argue with him.
In the same way that you could argue with a waterbuffalo, or an enraged bulldog with a frowny face stapled to one of its testicles.
That is, you're free to argue, but the guy's both angry and dumb as a box of rocks and probably won't listen...

DO IT!

I’m planning to go for the whole weekend, just trying to find a hotel now that is somewhat reasonably priced but since this is London we’re talking about that’s proving difficult.

Anyway I went last year and it was a lot of fun hanging around with the Dragon Age cosplayers [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/grin.png[/smilie] Looks like it’s a lot better this year, more guest stars and things going on in the expo hall.

Casey Hudson has said it. Mac Walters has said it. I have sadi it. I will say it again. The Extended Cut is the "end of the endings". While there is more DLC coming for both Single & Multiplay and that DLC may have some effect on the endings (such as the new dialog with teh Catalyst from Leviathan), there are no mote endings for Mass Effect 3 planned.

You can continue to hope and you can believe what I say or not. It is true that things do change given enough time (This is not lying, plans do change. Take for example that ME1 will now be coming to the PS3 as an example). That said the team is not currently working on new/more endings and has no plan to start. We are working on ME3 DLC and teh new Mass Effect game, not new endings.

All I want to ask them is that why is it that in Synthesis the people of the galaxy forget about the war with the Reapers, and why EDI doesn't sound like herself.

Because the ME3 endigs put symbolism in the forefront rather than in the background where it belonged.

Estebanusister. Since we operate in different timezones, I thought I might not have a proper chance to say goodbye before you have to leave. I'm not very good at this, so I'll repost something your brother said.

I feel that there's a certain reason why we're here. And it's not because we all just have the same opinion. If anything, these last 3 threads have shown that.

It's because we care for each other.

We don't judge people in here, we don't mindlessly attack each other here, we don't less of other people just because of some disabilities they may have in real life. We are one big family on these forums, and the bond between each of us, indoctrinationists, literalists like Hagar and Epyon, is strengthened by each new person here, be it lurker or newcomer, who'd like to share his thoughts with us. This has made that bond that ties us together as a family nigh unbreakable. And it's all because we worked together as a family to ensure that there at least is one place in this forum where you can (largely) escape the hate from outside.

I am proud of all of you here, and have to say that my feelings for everyone here is stronger than I ever imagined any internet relationship could be like. And I am proud to call myself a member of this family.

So there you go. That's what I want to say, I think. I speak for myself, and the IT community when I say:
Good luck Estebanusister; you will be missed. Posted Image

We hope to see you when you return, and hopfully by then we'll have and end - once and for all.

Fellow ITers! Salute! Posted Image

Yeah, I still don't believe in the reveal.

They'll leave it ambiguous forever, unless ME4 is a direct follow up to ME3.

I'd have thought that after all the bull**** that has come forth from "community co-ordinators" that we'd have learned to take everything they say with mountains of salt, particularly where it contradicts what appears to be the case from the content...

I have a little idea for a concept art.
Are you familiar with the propaganda cards in the early 20th century, where some new leader of a certain ideology positions himself in line with presumed predecessors?

Well, I will illustrate it to you with several examples:
Here we have an example showing how Mao tries to put himself in a line with other popular figures of the communist/socialist ideology.
Here we have an example showing how Hitler tries to put himself in a line with important figures of German history. By this, he tries to show the common populus that his rule is still in accordance with previous eras of glory.

Funnily enough, to the best of my knowledge, there are no examples for this propaganda amongst democratic nations.
My point is that someone more adept to Photoshop than I am should make a propaganda postcard featuring in this exact order:
Saren, Collector General, Amanda Kenson, TIM and Shepard. The main colour should be green.

There is no point in IT without a reveal. Doing that would be as stupid as the literal endings. If they don't reveal it, I won't be sure they intended it.

But I don't even care anymore. I don't care how it ends, because there is something much more important in ME than the endings: the characters.
As long as I get some closure with the characters, I'd be happy. I think that applies to a lot of people. Especially LI closure. Where are my blue babies? Posted Image

I don't have this closure problem at all... when I finished it, and realized what was going on, my mind was blown to know that I beat indoctrination. It was the greatest fulfillment ever... I couldn't sleep for hours out of sheer excitement.

I can even understand why they would leave it ambiguous. It's like a piece of art. You don't want to explain it, because the beauty is in how it can be interpreted in different ways. You want people to discuss it and wonder about it until the end of time.

It's like David Lynch refusing to explain his films. People just don't expect it from games.

I don't need a reveal to know IT is true. It is even kind of fitting to the theme to leave it ambiguous. It's like we're forever stuck in limbo.

It's just that I'd like to see the looks on the literalists' faces when they finally realize they have relinquished their form to the Reapers.

BU, maybe I'm misunderstanding, but I don't really see how any of these suggest the Crucible is not a battery or power source, except for Interferometric Array and possibly Dr. Gavin Archer.  The others either just say weapon in the text, or point to improving the power source /fuel consumption of the Crucible.

I don't think the word 'weapon' means much, because afaik most people understand the Crucible to be a weapon throughout ME3.  And usually the Codex stuff is written somewhat in-game (as if written by actual characters in the ME universe).

I don't think the power source stuff helps because, even though taken literally it would mean 'the power source of the power source', I think the actual descriptions are just talking about transferring power, so it could be just the overall contribution to the Crucible powering something else.

In other news, someone said something today that was (incidentally) a really good evidential point for IT... but I can't remember what it was, dang it.  (Though you guys have most likely thought of it anyway)

But will that ever happen. If Bioware just forget's about ME3 like that, i won't ever buy there games again. No matter how good it seems I will always think about ME3, and how they let almost everyone down, if IT is not going to happen.

I've said this repeatedly, and it's only my opinion, but Bioware will lose all my respect if they don't take a stand on their endings. Two valid interpretations is bogus. Where's the artistic integrity in a convoluted, unexplained ending that is either horrible writing or totally incomplete. And don'tquote me blade runner because it's unrelated. 2 hour movie vs 200 hr game-gtfo. Also, we know how the damn story ends in blade runner. Anyways, Both interpretations that are so fundamentally different cannot be equally valid. Either one or both is wrong, but saying both means Bioware is full of it. What is THEIR interpretation? Because if they don't have a stance then that means they don't know what the **** they wrote

Why would a battery need a battery? Plus, know one know what the hell the crucible is, except that it's a weapon. Not a battery, unless the galaxy's best scientists are just stupid (or indoctrinated). What good is the one about its energy passing undisturbed through a planet's magnetoshpere if it doesn't shoot?

If ITis true then we don't know if Shepard beats the Reapers. Period. Unacceptable. I didn't spend that much time and money to head canon the damn ending. No. Just no no no. I would be willing to give my money to Bioware again if they come clean, either way. Long as they stick with this "we'll never tell" I will NEVER trust them to tell me a story again.

Ok, sorry. I see what you're saying now. Yeah, I'm a Liaramancer too, the blue babies would have been awesome.

Do you have any idea what that last moment with Liara (the 'gift' in the FOB) is all about? I have no idea.

At first I thought it might be some mental conditioning to help protect Shep from indoctrination, then I thought no, this is where Liara gets pregnant. :o

Seriously though, I still have no idea.

All I know is that we're in the darkness, and there will be a light. Is it some kind of prophecy? Something that inspires hope?

Also, have you seen this? :D
