Ahhh...but that's the catch. The female are dying even though they have the former lead scientist of both the genophage and the genophage retrofit working on the problem (Mordin)? And in most of my games Mordin is armed with Maelon's data...but he can only keep Eve alive before Shep et al get there? I think that Linron was using her connections w/in the STG to slowly "let the Krogan female die" (read kill here basically). Also it is a little convenient that Mordin slips the Krogan the information before the last female dies. Her plan was going perfectly until Shep shows up with the intent of taking the last female off planet - where she would be safe. So she has to act rashly...and contacts Cerberus.
We are given some in game hints that the Salarians know that a cure is possible - we are even outright told that they expected a cure to be found and that the only effiecient way to implement it would be through the shroud, which they sabotage. We know that the current person in the position of power (Linron) believes that uplifting the Krogan was a mistake - a mistake that she believes that they will do again to fight the Reapers. And that she tries to blatantly blackmail Shep into letting that aforementioned sabotage occur (even if it means killing Mordin).
I am telling you that Linron fits as the mole...and it provides a perfectly legitmate reason as to why the mole is never brought up again. They were not concerned with stopping the overall war effort - just stopping the cure to the genophage.
The females were dying bacause of Maelon's experiments, Bakara tells you this, I don't see how Mordin could heal someone if they are that injured. Also if you are suggesting Mordin is involved with the plot why would he sacrifice himself latter?
And that still does not explain the outbound transmission from the base.
Just call Cerberus to attack a super secret research facility let them kill everyone and destroy everything just to make sure a krogan female dies when I can just slip something untraceable in her medication?
Sorry but I don't see it.
Not suggesting that at all...on the other hand I do find it fishy that by the time Shep get's involved ther is only one female left alive, despite Mordin's involvement. Me thinks that there is more going on there then we currently know...and the Dalatross and her connections within the STG couldn't outright assassinate the female Krogans for two reasons:
1. There already is political instability (as mentioned by someone else), and this might be the straw that breaks the camels back - and causes civil war. Which given the current galactic climate would be disastrous.
2. Forget the battles that this may cause on the homefront...if the Krogan's source should leak that the Salarians not only found females but then assassinated them - and this prevented any chance of a cure. Not only would the Salarians be at risk of war with the Krogan, but they would most likely lose any council support as well.
Given the above, plus the statements of the Dalatross about repeating the "Krogan mistake", and the research into uplifting the Yahg...my guess would be that had everything gone to the Dalatross's plan, all the females would have died despite their tremendous effort to save their lives - but to make up for the potential loss of the Krogan, here is the new version, the Yahg.
