are you serious?

Yes. I detest the thought that destruction is the only way to go, when they've given us other possibilities.

Actually, in contrast, I show a remarkable faith in the narrative. I
see the Reapers for deceitful beings. They need us for food and
procreation. Why would they want to end the food and orgy party? The
lore is impossibly restrictive already. Reapers are evil, they always
have been evil, whether they're useful idiots or not. They use sinister
methods to change people, effectively killing who they were. Again, they
are the walking graveyards of trillions of sentient beings who most
assuredly would have wanted to keep their forms and not die in a cruel
and horrific way. The lore is already restrictive. This is how it has
always been.

And in the end, we were shown other interpetations, which I like better.

I support this. That way control and synthesis players will know they were tricked but won't be completely alienated.

No, it's still terrible. Arbitrary penalties will never work well.

It's the inevitable penalty for not paying attention to the lore and being tricked.

or they can start over at Cronos and NOT get indoctrinated.

Well, sure, I'm just throwing a bone to the literalists, since they think we believe only destroy should work and shep should be dead in the others. We don't necessarily believe that and it's a common misconception.

If the lore is so impossibly restrictive inevitably, then fine. But you possess a surprising lack of faith in the narrative if this is case.

are you serious?

Serious as a heartattack that won't kill you in synthesis because backupcardiacsystem.scr is installed on all totally-not-reaper units.

Could we just stop this discussion now? I mean there really is no point. With most people coming in here, you can just assume the will not believe a single word you say until it is proven in game. Xil on the other hand flat out said it. An you are still trying to convince her otherwise. I predict the chances of you convincing her of IT are as high as her convincing you of control or synthepiss. Really. Just agree to disagree and let it go. (it=xil)

You like it better because Reaper Used Car Salesman sold you a new car with no engine inside.

" And in the end, we were shown other interpetations, which I like better."

Right. My decision is special and shouldn't be wrong because everything should be fair.

It's not about what you like. It's about the story Bioware was telling. You completely missed the point of the story.

Personally I like when games treat us like adults and we have to deal with consequences of our actions rather than a magic storyteller holding our hands so nothing bad ever happens.

Ha, you guys don't disappoint. Since Xil-pathizer has thrown out almost two dozen conflicting theories for what it could all mean, I thought I'd try my own. But it always comes back to that damn "High EMS Destroy Breath Scene" doesn't it? I think Controllers and Synthesizers just have a bad case of Shepard's Alive Envy (kinda like penis envy, you just can't hide it behind flashy stuff as much).

As far as the "Oh woe is me, I didn't want to commit genocide" bullcrap is concerned: Would you, Xil-pathizer, rather commit genocide on one race, or pardon (being the kindest word to use; I was going to go with "worship") the genocide of all races in all previous cycles since the first Reaper was created? And if you give me that bullcrap about "Reapers are the preserved blah-blah-blah," you chose poorly. Here's a hint: Something containing DNA does not contain life.

We are not trying to convince her. What we're trying to do is to have easy fun, and if we're lucky give her some brain damage, if we point out enough holes in her logic (danger, danger does not compute does not compute routine)

It is exactly like with a huskhead in game - there is really no point in poking it, but you just can't stop until it explodes. :wizard:

The Reapers lack free will, and the actual perpetrator, the Catalyst, has its personality deleted in my own ending. So that's not an issue.

What these guys said.  Let's hope the ME3 backlash doesn't stop games devs taking this risk in the future.

Well it's not working since she's in ignore mode. Maybe you're having fun, but reading all that mental diarrhea really annoys the hell out of me. And here's a hint: what if, she's just trying to get a good laugh out of you guys as well, well i guess you're providing her with a hell of a time. Any reasonable person would've by now caught that control and synthepiss are not what the ENTIRE FREAKING GAME SERIES were going for. But she just finds more and more sometimes were f***ing stupid ways of supporting those choices.
