That was exactly what they were described as, a reserve and slower. However, while I can imagine the Reapers themselves just floating out in dark space sleeping, if they have Black Arks and Collectors, they'd need a station of some kind to dock the ships to and somewhere make/house the Collectors themselves.

Possibly, unless the Black Arcs can attach to each other to make larger structures while inactive.

But yeah, time will tell!

True, it's not confirmed they have a base, but that seems to be the implication from this info.

Here's Hackett's message:

Admiral Steven Hackett wrote...

Soldiers of the Milky Way –

Congratulations must be extended to the troops that helped pull off Operation OVERDRIVE. Through your ability to mobilize quickly and work under pressure, many lives were saved. I want you all to take strength from your accomplishments today. You will need that strength in the days to come.

We have received eye-witness testimony of Collectors on the battlefield. This has been confirmed by our researchers who have been busy analyzing the Cerberus data recovered from Operation PATRIOT. The Collectors emerged from dark space on relatively low-velocity transport ships, allowing them to maintain a low profile while our attention was focused on the Reapers. It is believed that their arrival was meant to function as deadly reserves, wiping out pockets of resistance while our troops engaged the Reapers.

The Collectors are formidable enemies, but they will not find us so easy to wipe out. When the time comes, you must all be ready to face them.

I don't really see how that's confirmation (or much of an implication) of anything, but as Andromidius said, time will tell. Speaking of which, do we have actual confirmation that Bioware's writers have anything to do with the MP operations? I was under the impression that the MP team handled all things MP, including the Operation briefings and after action reports. Given the fact that we still have heard nothing come of the recovered Reaper destroyer memory core from an Operation 3 months ago, I'm not really sure how much is invested into these Operation texts beyond, "Hey cool, this is what happened" rather than any significant SP connections.

The original endings disagree with you.

Is it just me, or are Collectors on Silver brutally difficult? I can shoot a Collector Trooper in the head with my Widow II and they'll still be alive. And I have bonus to headshots. Seriously?

Oh, and what pack should I buy for Eviscerator/Widow upgrades? Veteran or Spectre? I've not had an upgrade in a long time, mostly useless junk like SMG's!

There appears to be a bug with single shot sniper rifles - like in 30% of cases shots do not register.

They take damage, just like 80% of their health pool.  Which isn't cool when I'm using such a slow powerful weapon, shooting them in the head with headshot bonuses!

I've been seeing the same thing with the Kishock and Widow (X). The Valiant seems to have the same issue, but it has more shots so I can triple tag a mook. I remember when I could headshot 3 mooks in a row, now?

Get Veteran until you max your uncommons, then go Premium Spectre all the way :)

Okay, you've GOT to be kidding me.

I got dropped from a game. AFTER we extracted. Literally, its frozen on the victory screen with 'communicating' in the top left corner.

And thus I lose all the credits I just earned because of the stupidity of the system. Yay?

With regards to headshots not killing Collectors in a single shot, could it be a Shieldgate bug?

Just remembered this, but did anyone notice that the banner for Lone Wolf is Shepard at the beam after being hit by the laser? It probably doesn't mean anything, but it struck me as a strange picture to use.

Yeah, I noticed it.  It stuck out, but the one that I REALLY thought was weird was the Death Guard banner that had a red hologram of Harbinger floating in the corridor from the Citadel in the ending.

Bioware does Warhammer games, right? :?

Prior to the Emperor's discovery of the Legion's Primarch, they were known as the Dusk Raiders Legion. Their signature strategy had been to attack their foes at nightfall. The Dusk Raiders' armour was unpainted, but with their right arm and both shoulders coloured crimson. This was done with the intent to show their enemies that they were the Emperor's red right hand, relentless and unstoppable. Many enemies simply threw down their weapons at nightfall so they didn't have to fight the terrifying Dusk Raiders.

The Great Crusade
Formation

When Mortarion was found by the Emperor upon the troubled world of Barbarus, he was swiftly given control of his Legion. Upon first seeing them he told them, "You are my unbroken blades. You are the Death Guard." The Legion's name was then changed in accordance with this decree, and Mortarion's words engraved above the airlock door of the Battle Barge Reaper's Scythe in honour of the moment. Their armour's colour was changed, and whilst their main armour remained unpainted, the trim colour became dark green

Culture

Originally the Death Guard believed that humans should be free of oppression and that hardship should be faced with faith in inner strength, strong will and stern resolution. During the Heresy, these beliefs were twisted into contempt for the weak and the conviction that individuals were not fit to judge for themselves what was best for them.

When the Legion was trapped and infected by Nurgle in the warp, their arrogance and contempt for weakness turned against them. Their surrender to Nurgle caused them to become self loathing and now they seek to spread ruin and decay in order to let their own fate appear less shameful in comparison.

lulz...

Hey guys, I've been lurking a long time trying to find my damned EA acount.

Here's an idea on the Ending choices and the Crucible that came into my mind after the Retaliation trailer:

We have already said that it's an Indoc Attempt, but what if the choice we make is what we are gonna let the Reapers use the Crucible for (Crucible being a trap). Think about it we struggle to find any sense in what the "Catalyst" says but what if he is not lying in the sense that he is really going to do what he says but to us (Humans).

If CONTROL: We Succumb, we become the Collectors of the next cycle cause we didnt accept to Ascend but to be Controlled.

If SYNTHESIS: We Ascend , we willingly accept to merge ourselves with the Reapers and accept that they're our final evolution. (Synthesis cant be forced).

If DESTROY: We choose to be ANNIHILATED, we fight back so the only thing they can do is to Destroy us.

If REFUSE: We just fail so hard cause we dont realize it's a trap and also we cant find a way out, so we're trapped in our minds waiting to die.

Any thoughts on this idea?:wizard:

And yes. I demand that this picture become the emblem of the IT thread and be added into OP. It is really overdue.

P.S. - M4 - part 2 lyrics should be added too.

I have wondered about you
Where will you be when this through
If all goes as planned
Will you redeem my life again?

Fire the fields the weed is sown
Water down your empty soul
Wake the sea of silent hope
Water down your empty soul

Fight your foes you're on your own
Holy war is on the phone
Asking to please stay on hold
The bleeding loss of blood runs cold

And I need you to recover
Because I can't make it on my own

I was just thinking about this when playing this while making dinner at home a couple days ago! :D

I have wondered about you
Where will you be when this through (general idea of Shepard on a journey)
If all goes as planned
Will you redeem my life again? ("there is no redemption for what you've done" -Kenson, haha)

Fire the fields the weed is sown (REAPERS)
Water down your empty soul (REAPERS)
Wake the sea of silent hope (LEVIATHAN)
Water down your empty soul (Shepard's trial, INDOCTRINATION, trial by fire, and water)

Fight your foes you're on your own (Shepard is alone, in the end, always)
Holy war is on the phone (Reapers = angels, Shepard's allies = demons ... Christian allegory turned on its head)
Asking to please stay on hold
The bleeding loss of blood runs cold (??)

And I need you to recover
Because I can't make it on my own (see pic above!)

Just as Xil clings to the idea of all the endings being valid good endings, I refuse the idea that all of the endings are bad endings. I think Destroy or a possible successful refuse will be the best endings. The other two might be like Shepard dying in ME2 or (so as not to alienate the goofs who chose those and bought into the hype) they could just be larger hurdles to get over to defeat the Reapers or not at all depending on EMS and assets.

I'm with you there. Bioware did mess this up imo, in some fashion.

However, if IT is true, there will be investigations of how Mass Effect foreshadowed it, for many years to come.

I'd go with them being simultaniously larger hurdles AND more 'interesting' stories. Destroy is the classic Shepard-hero story though.
