They would be good people for letting us live in a false reality? IT will always be the headcanon of the IT thread if it's wrong. But everyone I've heard including myself would prefer a confirmation or denial instead of this purgatory.
I hate not knowing...
Ah, but that would go against what's good for the company, wouldn't it?
Look, at the end of the day, BioWare is still a business. They're out there to make money, not for any moral reason (that's what I believe, at least). If the IT would be debunked, imagine how many people would rage quit BioWare and not buy any of their precious DLC? Because, to be honest, I really don't think many would.
Just think about the time when the EC was released. A lot of people quit the IT then, and several more in the aftermath. That was for the soul reason that the EC didn't include the IT. Many former ITers vowed not to buy any DLC afterwards (I've actually talked with quite a bit of them, Liggy002 comes to mind). Now imagine what would happen if BioWare's most hardcore fans, those that have defended them since the beginning and who fought to make people realize that there was more going on in the game, would be told by the very company they tried to defend, that they were wrong all along, and that they've been allowed to believe in a theory that was wrong all along.
That's right. A total abandoning of the company by some of its most loyal fans. Not all, of course. I'm sure that if this would in fact happen, many of the IT reguars on this thread would continue to support BioWare even after the IT were debunked by them, but all in all, that's a a very small part of the IT community in itself. Many would leave, I daresay even most of the community would, while the most loyal fans would probably remain.
Tabula Rasa. Almost all is washed away, leaving only the strongest behind.
So the company does the smart thing. They let it remain valid, and assure as such that many people would buy their DLC, and maybe even their next game, in hope of having the IT confirmed. It's a cold, pragmatic stance, but it's the smart stance. They assure that they'll get a lot of money through their fans this way, and in the end, money is probably all that matters to them.
Not saying that any of this is true, of course. It's just a thesis I came up with. The worst-case scenario thesis.
