There is more than enough proof to convince me that IT is real, 99% of clues were already found and discussed.

And frankly, the EC did change the ending, it made it REALLY ****ING OBVIOUS that the catalyst was a reaper intelligence, rather than something different, right down to dropping all pretense if you shot it (like, oh, probably half of all players did at that point...)
