...............there are people out there who are playing ME3 without the Extended Cut.
If i could play Mass Effect without the extended cut - i would - sadly i was t oeager to see what it is, and 'purchased" it - which tied it to my account forerver, without any option to disable it.
I was thinking... isn't it possible to simply remove the DLC?
You'd think that if you reinstalled without the DLC, you'd have the original ending, right?
Or do they force it upon you with a 'necessary update' or something?
They force you - it is on auto check, and there is no way to disable any of the DLCs - so if it isn't there when you start Origin - it will dawnload and install on auto.

Unlikely. Real reason is likely to maintain people's interest in the series by not explaining the ending. That will eventually happen but until then the ending is there to challenge the audience.
That would mean they would stop developing Mass Effect franchise sooner rather than later. I don't see that happening. I'm up for prequels but most people want a sequel. In order to do that they must unveil the mystery eventually.

Interestingly enough, the red room (the lodge) is a place where, if you make the wrong decision, an evil spirit will possess you.

Some have speculated that they may continue it centuries into the future so that some form of Synthesis has already happened. IF IT, then it will be Shepard trying to find another way to take down the Reapers or, an alternate (and perversely attractive) option: working for the Reapers.

And so? What's the difference? It is still tied to Origin - you cannot launch the game without launching origin first - each time you launch origin it checks whether the content that is tied to your account is up to date.
I actually spent a lot of time talking to origin support about it - the confimed - there is no way to disable the DLC once it has been purchased - there is no On/Off. It's just that Extended Cut DLC is so unique in a sense that it is an alterative version of the game, and not some addition - so once you have extended cut - the original is forever lost for you. Which is very sad. Even extended cuts on DVDs almost always offer you the option to watch the original theatrical version. Alas, the Extended Cut is more like the new version of the Original StarWars Trilogy - once it is out and changes has been made - good luck finding a version of the movie where Han did shoot first, and Anakin's ghost at the end of Return of the Jedi is not Haiden Cristensen.

Also if they're going to use IT and the next game is a continuation of ME3 it kind of spoils the surprise a bit don't you think? Though honestly if at the end of the DLC cycle there is not definitive answer one way or the other, or there's no hint of it being expanded on in future, I'm done defending Bioware and I'll join the group saying 'Yeah Bioware f***ed up royally' You can't leave things like this up to speculation forever, it just pisses people off and then they stop caring about the series all together.
We'll see what happens. Let's just cross that bridge when we come to it.
I’m just getting tired of speculating, I’m not asking for my hand to be held or for everything to be spoon fed
to me, I’ve had to analyse some of Lynch’s films before so I know how to
get into the knitty gritty details of something and draw conclusions. IT will always be my canon but I would obviously like to see some kind of payoff within the game/series itself. Whether it’s Shepard getting up from the rubble and finishing what they started or just some kind of acknowledgment that yes, this is what’s going on, I’m not fussed.

Actually I think they'll avoid committing, but it does make a future ME game difficult to envision if they don't go back in time. I have a couple of ideas as to how they could but it'd be a lot easier to do as you say, canonise something and go from there. Or just pick a previous battle (First Contact War, Genophage etc.), come up with some new cool ideas, and go from there.Humakt83 wrote...

Given how huge the Reaper threat was, I imagine it would lose some of the drama if they did go forward in time. Especially if it made the trilogy less important retrospectively. They gotta tread carefully now whatever they do.

Bring up Game Details by clicking the i icon on the game's pop-up window. Right click on the progress indicator for the DLC you wish to cancel and choose either Pause or Cancel.demersel wrote...
