Bring up Game Details by clicking the i icon on the game's pop-up window. Right click on the progress indicator for the DLC you wish to cancel and choose either Pause or Cancel.

And it totally does work, right? I mean you are sure that there is actual batton to pause or cancel the install? :)

There's a context menu with those options. I saw it today.

Woah I've been a way for a long time!

But I have to agree. Along with the founders leaving the company partly because of negativity from the fan base. If IT was the greatest thing they could ever pull, why not tell the world so that you can end the negaivity?

Possible reasons for the delay:

1. They want to avoid inflated player expectations.
--The last time BioWare started making a bunch of promises about content, they ended up not being able to deliver (no ABC ending) and people were pissed.

2. Time is not considered an issue.
--BSN is a small subset of the playerbase, and BioWare knows it. Most players have either moved on or accepted what they have been given. Many of the IT and alternate ending supporters that have moved on will come back no matter how long it took to actually get the new ending. People tend be forgiving because grudges take effort, and above all people are lazy. The other players will be happy with whatever they get.

3. BioWare needs time to actually MAKE the content.
--They were expecting to get more time from EA to finish ME3. When BioWare found out they weren't getting it, they figured that by putting out the IT ending later as DLC they could get around EA's pushy release schedule. The fans were especially pissed by the original endings so the EC was released as a quick method to aleviate some concerns, but it delayed the release schedule further.

4. Internal problems.
--BioWare's relationship with EA has not been smooth, and a lot of pressure has been put on them to perform after TOR's failure. The founders' decisions to leave the industry may have been finalized because of the ending debacle, but people don't generally leave the company they founded AND its industry just because of fan outcry about a game that was a financial success. Drew leaving earlier might indicate that BioWare has been having issues for some time now.

5. BioWare did not actually intend IT, but is going to support it because of the fan outcry.
--They need time to make the content because they did not originally PLAN the content in the first place. Chris Priestly's IT poll over on holdtheline a few months ago with 80% of people supporting IT was market research. Back before the EC, fan support of IT was very high, and the plans to develop content for it were developed as a result. This could be why BioWare wants to let people know clearly that they still consider IT valid and are neither confirming nor denying it.

One or multiple of these could be the case.

Ok. And the big question - can you use it not to install the Extended Cut? :wizard:

Destroy good thing, save it bad thing. I like it that we can blow up Omega. Maybe Omega is some Reaper tech, or Cerberus installed Reaper tech on Omega. Speculations.:D^_^

Hey, just a word of advice to everyone, you might want to try updating the individual pieces of DLC as well as the game itself if you haven't been doing that already. I have a few hundred MB of data downloading as we speak.

Wouldn't releasing this pic be too big a spoiler for BioWare to overlook?

Girl: What do you do for a living?

Gamble: I write for Mass Effect.  Would you like to see a preview of new content?

Girl: :o<3

Gamble: B)

Or at least, that's how I imagine it might have gone. ^_^

Whoa! Same here. Updating Earth atm.

BioWare should really adopt Microsoft's approach to patching software. Releasing Update Bulletins describing what and when is patched.

Dwailing, it was probably more like this.

Girl: What do you do for a living?

Gamble: I write for Mass Effect.  Would you like to see a preview of new content?

Girl: You mean you wrote space magic?! Someone isnt getting lucky tonight!

Gamble: I- er- no! It was indoctrination, you see!

Girl:

Thus IT was born.

I hate the fact the people are calling all of ME3 just bad writing.

The circular logic is pretty hilarious.
"The ending is terribly written"
"And how do you know that?"
"Bioware are awful writers"
"And how do you know that?"
"The ending is terribly written"

Shepard's resolve has started to wane, because he let up on that diamond hard core of anathema. He is willing to accept that there is some part of the Reapers that is useful, and can be turned to good purposes, even if it means seizing a base where people got liqufied.

The fact is, the Reapers, by their very nature, are damaging to others with their existence.

Thanks for the answer. Just having a problem with this.

Shepard also uses the Mass Relays, the Thanix cannon, Reaper IFF, the Citadel...

Shepard always saw the Reapers' technology as useful, even when it was dangerous. Shepard keeping the base is just one more thing Shepard saw as useful. Why is it so different than all the others?

I knew that was coming, I KNEW it. I KNEW I would have to explain this one.

Ok, the difference between the Thanix Cannon, (perhaps) The Citadel (We don't know if there really IS a "calming" and "denial" effect or not) the Mass Relays, Legion's Reaper Code, and other various things, is that they are re-purposed

When Legion disseminated the code among the Geth, he was NOT spreading the Reaper Code, Legion had used the Reaper code as a jumping off point to make his own code, paring out the parts he didn't like, he wasn't using Reaper Code, he was using his own code based OFF Reaper code.

The same applies with the Thanix, we aren't using Sovereign's actual main gun, merely the technological principles it's based on, we took their knowledge, made it our own and seized it for ourselves, it wasn't given to us, we stole it. We took it by force, we made our own future, taking longer, and gaining a lesser understanding of it, but we didn't sacrifice ourselves, our autonomy, for the future promised by the Reapers.

Using the base is choosing to make use of a tool that was used for something that was, to be entirely honest, out and out evil. It would be like trying to use the butcher knife that Michael Myers used for his murders as a butcher knife again. Not that there is anything wrong with the knife itself, but you are basically signaling that the lives taken BY that tool meant nothing to you. Keeping the base has no practical or impractical effect, it is entirely symbolic.

The Mass Relays likely do not have the tell-tale marks of Reaper tech, because, if the they had included them, what civilization would make use of a technology that destroyed the mental faculties of anyone who used it? They would develop their own, safer method, which is what the Reapers do not want. They want to lure organics into their net, they want it to appear safe, just like the FTL protocols that keep FTL drives from activating if there is something in the way. It appears to be a safety measure, but in reality, it's designed to keep organics from ramming ships into the sides of Reapers at light speed.

They manipulate, they control, they deceive, it is their nature to do so."

I don't think Omega's being destroyed in that pic, the Normandy is heading towards it by the looks of it.
