Someone on the Mass Effect team is a David Lynch fan?

This explains everything.

lol totally.

I do agree with the posters who say that the 'middle player' isn't satisfied by what Mass Effect 3 offers.

(High Player = ITers, lore-buffs, story analysis, 'art', etc)
(Middle Player = Attachment to plot, want payoff for decisions made in story, gets to see characters they like a lot)
(Low Player = action, pure gameplay mechanics, graphics quality, weapons and armor)

"Don't get too attached to plot" is an important message, but it alienates the Middle Player, who is the majority of group that plays Mass Effect imo.

Pure GoW/CoD players are still the minority for Mass Effect. So are us ITers and people on the forums analysing every little thing.

That's Bioware's mistake, and I hope they can make up for it...

Masster -- I skimmed a couple hundred pages, but then found the vids were helpful, too. From Mark 1, I am so amazed at how almost universal the belief in a hallucinatory ending used to be. Now it's treated like a badge of shame when it is, at least in my opinion, such a real part of the narrative -- even now, in post-EC land. The culture of BSN is so... odd sometimes!

Still feel like ITers will have the last laugh.

Ah well, back to the reads! :D

Certain minority opinions have tended to have good track record on the BSN, even while they're ridiculed for months and months. (in leadup to ME2 and ME3 as well)

BSN is full of BS, but you'll find that diamond in the rough once in a while, like in any forum.

I was just remembering something odd.  Remember the Emily Wong twitter death?  Near the end she started to talk about an anti-Reaper device that her little group picked up and eventually tried to use against a Reaper.  Naturally, it did nothing and we all know what happened next.

It always struck me as strange that they had an anti-Reaper anything or that they'd try to use it on a Reaper ignoring intense antiship bombardments.  Then it just occurred to me: what if the device itself was a hallucination?  Could BioWare have snuck indoctrination into the prereleasemedia?

Edit: never mind, I retread the feed and it sounds like a Reaper blackstar

All right I am going to bed. But before I do, it seems like every day most of us barly come on here. I guess it's do to work, school, and other games/ family matters. Well I hope that's the case. I would hate if something bad happened to any of you, and with that I go into the dream world.

You wanted to use the crucible to destroy the reapers, you talked to the catalyst, and now you no longer want to use the crucible to destroy the reapers...

Whoever said I didn't want to use the Crucible. From an IT perspective. The whole decision Chamber is contrary to the narrative of the story, thus it's not real, it's a dream.
Refusal is the only answer.
I want Shep to break free from the indoctrination-induced dream by denying all the options the Godbrat presents to him, and wake up in the rubble so he can finish the job and use the Crucible properly.

The thing you're missing here is key. Shepard influences the illusion as well as the reapers. It is Shepard's own mind, after all. Shepard puts the option of destroy in there, subconsciously. It has to be there. It is also key for indoctrination. Shepard must want to go along with the reapers. To do so, Shepard must abandon his/her previous beliefs/goals. The lies about killing Shepard, the geth and EDI are just thrown in by the reapers so Shepard won't follow through.

I agree.
Mass Effect was always esoteric and deep.  I believe in the Indoc. Theory 110%.  im no scrub; ive played all the ME games.  Everything about the theory adds up: the dreams, the hints/lore, the irony of final choices, etc.  Oh, and LOGIC lends itself to this perception.

The theory is strong and because the true fans are behind it.  The people who dont care and/or like the endings are just going with the other , equally-correct perception of the endings.  The literal interpretation is simply choosing between your organic side or your synthetic side.  synthesis has its own theories, such as the Leviathan starting the original plans with that intent.

Exactly. People are just hating IT because other people hate IT. It's basically how all hate spreads. That's the only reason sexism and racism are still around... People need to stop blindly following others - because eventually they'll realize they are all just following each other, going nowhere.

So let me get this straight some people are pulling " it's just a game, and anything can happen in a game that makes no sense." Really if that was the case the Normandy can take on the whole Reaper fleet, and win without getting a sratch. To be honset I think Omega is already done, but they are adding something else in the files for the next dlc, or maybe something at the end. Maybe something else after the breath scene? Anderson calling Shepard's name like he did when Shepard was knocked out for a bit? Speculation

Simple post-production: additional audition, rendering cinematics, bughunting, etc.

Also the fact that they probably don't want to release it around the release date of Halo 4 for pretty obvious reasons...

FFZero wrote...

Also if they're going to use IT and the next game is a continuation of ME3 it kind of spoils the surprise a bit don't you think? Though honestly if at the end of the DLC cycle there is not definitive answer one way or the other, or there's no hint of it being expanded on in future, I'm done defending Bioware and I'll join the group saying 'Yeah Bioware f***ed up royally' You can't leave things like this up to speculation forever, it just pisses people off and then they stop caring about the series all together.

Agreed.

Is it just me or is Omega exploding in this photo?

Destroy good thing, save it bad thing. I like it that we can blow up Omega. Maybe Omega is some Reaper tech, or Cerberus installed Reaper tech on Omega. Speculations.Posted ImagePosted Image

Wouldn't releasing this pic be too big a spoiler for BioWare to overlook?

They didn't release it, somebody sneakily took a photo they weren't supposed to take

masster blaster wrote...
not really. they put their scripts about Leviathan in the dlc, so why not do a picture instead.

That was quite a major error, but they've stopped leaving quite so much stuff in the files...

Im sure thats just the lighting... then again, i know nothing of the story.  i thought cerberus had omega?  what does this have to do with collectors?  How will they incorporate all these elements?  (omega exploding, collectors, cerberus, aria)

ITS ALL TOO MUCH FOR ONE DLC!

@BatmanTurian Yup. Humanity is pretty stupid as a whole. It's unfortunate, but my view seems to be this:
I love individual people; I hate humanity. Make sense?

Nice!

This actually sounds like one of these quotes to get cited in the future and falsly referenced to Einstein.

Thanks! I don't know if someone else used it, but I did think of it on my own. With 7 billion people though, it's hard to be original. Posted Image

Watching this guy's video about the ending. He also supports IT and talks about it near the end of his video. Although he's got an extreme potty mouth, I'll just warn anyone.

Oh my god he is hilarious!

And yeah, its started to get to that point with me. I keep going "Does no one understand narrative? Foreshadowing? Anything?"

Yeah, that's the way I've felt for months and Arian and Bill definitely agree. Hell, most of this thread is probably right there with us.

I'll just pop in for a sec and drop some awesome examples of foreshadowing and good writing that Blur and I found in the last few days.

- "Now they've cut a swath, a no man's land, through the city.
"Definition: A row or line of grass, grain, or other crop as it lies when mown or reaped.

- Rupe Elkoss: Sanctuary's a scam.
Just awesome! It's a too-good-to-be-true dream world. Remind you of anything? Especially when you remember what they're doind there...

- Firebase Jade. Now, I know I already told you about how there are flies on this map and in SP, just because of one of Javik's lines. Incredible.
Anyway, while there has been some speculation that that map name came from this person's name, a more... likely scenario is that it is because of this.
Jade: A bad-tempered or disreputable woman.

Like say, her.
Crazy!

- For fun. You know how after listening to the Shepard VI, Shepard says: "I don't really sound like that. Do I?"

Well, the funny thing is everyone hears their own voice lower than it is to others. So it could actually be that since we're listening to Shepard from Shepard's perspective, we are actually hearing that lower pitched voice. Which means Shepard really does sound like that to everyone else! Whoa!

Repost for fun!

LOL. I know that. I was just surprised because there were seemingly more convincing options in that poll. I myself chose the Guardian. And there was Anderson & TIM too. The kid definitely foreshadows IT but it's only in the Catalyst's Chamber that we learn what purpose he'd served throughout the game. Therefore the Catalyst and his form are stronger catalysts of IT. Posted Image

EDIT: It's not the top of the world... Posted Image

The Catalyst's form is the Kid...
It should be included in the Kid option...

The kid and the Catalyst are inseperable and have to be considered together.

I don't know, if you play with subs on he is never called catalyst in the hole conversation he is always Child.

I always found this extremely interesting as well. When you first meet Legion, his subtitles say "Geth". But after you he gets his name, they switch to "Legion". Conversely, the "Catalyst" subtitles only say "Child" even after the extended cut. I think it's important.
