No, listen. Overlord, David, was trying to upload itself off world. After destroying the satelite dishes you denied it/him access to comm buouys. The Normandy was the nearest transmitting source capable of taking in the VI hybrid. Thus, at the end of the Overlord DLC you have to stop the VI from uploading to the Normandy (The station PA speakers explain this during the fight.)

I could just never understand how David/VI managed to control you like that. I mean by "uploading" you into that virtual world.

Did he manage to take control of the VI for just an instance? Allowing himself to be saved by you?

Why didn't the VI just disable all the doors and stuff? Why lock your squadmates in that room but let you escape?

Maybe it has something to do with your cibernetic implants?

My guess is that this was the organic side struggling. You also have these shoutouts "PLEASE, MAKE IT STOP" but still the Geth are attacking you. Also the Geth you fight seem to be just virtual representations of the forming conciousness, same as with the upload which is also just a representation.

Also I like the similarity of the bubble/data node around David to the data nodes in the Geth mission, and the bubble Legion is in in the Dreadnaught mission.

high ems: The door opens, Shepard has hope and sees her friends get out (that is also why the LI is always the first to get out)

I thought Joker always got out first? (I haven't done the endings for a long while, and have only done 1 EC playthrough)

Ok, the first variable after Joker. But that doesn't change much of the point I was making, does it?

Overlord had a lot of connecting context in ME3!

Yea, the delivery of music and dialogue during Overlord tops LotSB for best ME2 dlc for me haha

Wait why wasn't David seen in Grimssion Academy? Didn't we could send him to the academy? He should be there, but is he? I never played Overlord to be honest.

Exactly! Overlord has been my main argument against Control and Synthesis endings!

Hmm, small wonder, if you free David he lets you into the armory at Grissom Academy. "Lots of guns"

Which ending do you use a gun?

I know, I know, I really pulled that one outta nowhere but there isn't much else to talk about...

That was actually a reference to the first Matrix, which is ironically also something we see on the sheet for the ending :P

He is in Grissom Academy if you played Overlord (and sent him to the academy obviusly, but who dsoent?) and he unlocks a armory containing a few upgrades.

Though that is minor compared to the small conversation with him. He clearly is feeling much better and says:

"I have been counting" - David
"Anything in paticular?" - Shepard
"The number of days you lengthened my life" - David.

It is a sweet line. He also appologizes to EDI for trying to hack her if you have her with you.

Also, question for everyone: if the scene with Shepard, Anderson, and TIM is all in Shepard's head, where do you guys think the real TIM is?

Omega?
Certainly his motivations for taking the place need to be made more clear...

Oh man, I know it's not really a possibility, but how fantastic would it have been if Omega was post-ending (like Arrival) and TIM, presumed KIA of course, walked out at some point during Omega?  That'd be quite a teaser, either for ME3 or the future game.

What did Martin Sheen always say while laughing at us? "I'm not done yet." :D

I always consider that.

I mean, he could just mean "I'm not done in Mass Effect after Mass Effect 2, so you'll see me in ME3." but I'm not 100% sure.

Man, that reminds me of just how much I wanted the fight with Kai Leng to be some kind of awesome hand to hand fight between him and Shepard.  Why BioWare?  Whhhhhhyyyyyyy!!!!????

ME3 had lots of tear inducing moments...Mordin is still the one which touched me the deepest, the scene, the music, him singing "Scientist Salarian" as he works and the knowledge of what you have accomplished in that moment made me cry deeply :crying:

Off course his sacrifice is entirely pointless if you pick Synthesis <_<

Sorry guys out of the place question but i want to know did Bioware told us why Shepared can't be indoctrinated? because i remember in the arrival he knocked off by object Rho and spend complete 2 days in the influence of Harbinger. So why he suddenly woke up? any explanation?

Haha I don't think Marine hand-to-hand would have been a match for Kai Leng's... whatever he had. Besides it probably would have turned into an "omni-blade vs. wakizashi" fight.

Adding a scene that combined forcing the omniblade down my throat, the addition of swords into the far future, and Deception Kai Leng probably would have made me sell ME3 before I watched AngryJoe which led me here :)

I don't remember Bioware saying that.

(Take note I'm not attacking you =]) In fact I remember Bioware saying quite the opposite- That IT is just a valid interpretation of the endings as any other. More so than some, actually.

And, DWKU, this whole thread is devoted to an explanation of what happened during Arrival!
If you prefer visual media, in my opinion, Prettz Zell (youtube username) has made an IT video that really goes into Arrival and more!

To be honest with the strength enhancements Shepard has gotten (going toe to toe with a Yagh anyone) I think a fist fight with Kai Leng would have been a pretty short afair. B)

They never did. Only two things:

1)Shepard has a 'remarkably strong will'.

2)Leviathan calls him an 'anomaly'.

I think its important to understand Shepard's 'will' to be his Paragon or Renegade score!
Think back to Samara's Loyalty mission. Escaping Morinth's mind control powers is literally done through Paragon and Renegade. The middle path here only allows your mind to be dominated.

IMO there's a larger story of organic evolution being told here, that we haven't seen fully realized yet. Can't wait for when it is! :wizard:

I dont think Bioware has ever said Shepard could not be Indoctrinated and really there is no reason he shouldnt.

As for why he woke up it might be his implants. He has alot of Synthetic parts and it might have done so that a sedative dose which could normally keep a human asleep only knocks Shepard out temporarily. Just a guess though.

Well my bad, what i meant was probably if Bioware never told us that shepard is indoct proof then he was already in indoctrination process because he should have indoctrinated like everyone else at the base, hiting by Object Rho pulse and spending 2 days under Object Rho's influence is no joke.
