I think Omega is not exploding for several reasons:
1. Why would be the Normandy heading to an exploding Omega?
2. You actually do not see any part of Omega being destroyed, it is just in weird colours with an exceptionally high brightness.
3. The second point is supported by the fact that the source of the brightness seems to be located behind Omega and you can also see some kind of accretion disc. This indicates that the source of the radiation may be a star/sun or a similar object.
4. In the top-right corner of the display you also have a weird colour effect, showing that the quality of the image is not that good.

Of course I could be all wrong, but I am convinced that Omega is not blowing up.

Wow I really don't know what to say about that maybe it's just the quality of the screenshot or maybe you have an option of blowing up Omega but honestly who would wanna do that? Omega is Awesome!

I am still of the opinion that the very bright thing you're seeing there must either be the galactic core, or the system's sun. Also, the Normandy is clearly flying towards Omega, not away from it. Now why would a ship fly towards an exploding space station?

I'm not sure if the Normandy is heading towards it in that pic. The prow is oriented towards the upper-left corner.

I'm actually not sure if letting the Council live is a mistake. When I played the no import Shep for my low EMS playthrough the new council is much more rational. Seriously in my opinion the old Council is pretty much indoctrinated (the new one is too, but in ME3 especially in most cases they are just irrational and how does Cerberus get the info about the archive?). Think about it, in any mission you get from a Council member the Reapers never try to actively stop you. Not on Palaven, that's just the standard force, neither on Sur Kesh, Cerberus, neither on Tuchanka, seriously? "Only" one Destroyer? Neither on the Citadel, Cerberus again, neither on Thessia, again Cerberus.

Couldn't Udina be the source for Cerberus?
For all we know he was a somehow aligned to Cerberus during the coup. And as I stated way earlier, if you let the Council die in ME1 and followed Udinas plans to install a only-human Council, the speech he has matches Cerberus ideology for the most part.

With feigned confusion, that was a joke. With amusement, I think everyone knows the answer to that question, it was just a stupid way of saying how happy I am that support hadn't died down for IT, it makes me happy I guess.

Sarcastically, really? It was a joke? I never noticed.

With genuine confusion, I am not sure if you got the feigned part or not, with major annoyance, I hate not being able to use visual cues.

I have to say, it looks like the scene from Aliens where Ripley, Newt, Bishop, that one guy, and the Alien Queen are speeding away from the colony being nuked. It almost seems like an homage. I could be wrong, but that's what it looks like to me.

EDIT: maybe there really are Collectors working with Cerberus and the station has to be nuked to stop whatever crazy, nightmarish stuff they're up to. My guess is that the civilian population is already gone, taken by collectors. Perhaps they're trying to build a human reaper there.... AGAIN.

That would be insane! Maybe that's the reason why Bioware doesn't wanna reveal the collectors.:D

New human Reaper being built on Omega wouldn't surprise me.

Very possible.

And then Cerberus would be involved, which would make Shep's line from the end of ME2 even more ironic.

"The next thing I know, you'll be wanting to grow your own Reaper."

Add the fact Omega could house a reaper factory that can clone new collectors. The collectors that you killed already are clones anyway, what's stopping the Reapers making more? Also Omega is hinted in Retribution of being of Reaper origin. Makes sense.

Cool thing I found out too. A synonym for Retribution happens to be Retaliation. Retribution - Deals with Cerberus experimenting w/ tech taken from the collector base, and hints at Omega being of Reaper origin. Retaliation - MP DLC dealing with the return of the Collectors.

On Omega blowing up...I think it is. First off the asteroid portion of Omega is illuminated and bright. If it was in front of a sun or core it would be making an eclipse not being illuminated in BRIGHT orange. (compare) 2nd the reason for no debris is because its still before it breaks up into pieces.

Until Omega comes out I am staying with my original opinion. BioWare has lied before, why stop now? To say that is Omega blowing up could spoil the plot....possibly...

Does Omega orbit a red star? Anyone have any lore handy from the game or wiki? I can't find it in the wiki honestly.

Found this though:
http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Omega

"The Adjutant attack turns out to be only a prelude to an attempt by
Cerberus to conquer the station and secure exclusive access to the Omega
4 Relay and its treasure trove of Reaper technology. Aria unites
Omega's warring gangs to fight against the Cerberus occupation force,
but General Petrovsky outsmarts her by taking the entire station hostage
and
threatening to destroy it level-by-level. "

So if it's not blowing up, it's either about to discharge or establish a connection to the Crucible.

It seems Petrovsky has something up his sleeve that would allow him to destroy Omega anyway.

I like it how they stripped Marauder Shield shields to 1/3 or 1/4 on Insanity post EC. Seeing this makes me nostalgic.

Dunno but iirc it took more than 4 shots on Insanity to kill MS.

The funniest part is Harbinger moving backwards and saying "I'll direct this personally." Posted Image

After depleting the shields it takes 3 shots to kill a Marauder. 2 headshots remove about 90% or 95% of their health.
