Mike Gamble said it wasn't, so I'm proposing an alternate hypothesis...

Looks like an explosion to me.

Omega could be blocking the super-massive black hole, because otherwise everything looks the same.

You make a good case.

Could still be collectors and Harbinger then.

Or Omega is being used to run salvage on the Collector Base...
Doesn't Omega have awesome debris shields or something?

Well those people that left after the EC are either Synthesis supporters, or Controllers. Paxxton is special because he likes IT, but for now he is Control person.

Also it's funny that when those people left we got a lot of new people. Some went back to lurking, but ya. Actually I don't mind if lukers told us what they are think. Even if it's old stuff we talked about. It doesn't hurt to improve our old debates.

I remember it possessing them because Omega orbited in a dense asteroid belt.

Also Omega has weapons/ Omega systems that control the station. It makes as a great new base for the Collectors/Cerberus.

Ah, here we go.

" To prevent future collisions, the station is ringed with enormous mass effect field generators that redirect
incoming debris. "

Because Omega is coming up, I decided to finally do some research into arias to see if one of them contains a connection to Aria T'loak.

The best connection I've found so far is to Mozart's The Magic Flute. The parallel that strikes me the most is that the Queen (if you are feeling dramatic) of Night asks the protagonist to rescue something of hers, her daughter in this case. The protagonist finds out during the rescue that the Queen of NIght is the actual villain. The Queen of Night has a famous aria with a name that translates to something like "Hell's Vengeance Boils in My Heart" which she sings to her daughter.

Another connection is to the famous Toreador's Song from Carmen, another aria. Aria herself wears a toreador jacket. You could even say that bull-tamer is a good figurative description for someone that "tamed" krogan. Krogan are quite famous for charging people at a moment's notice after all :P

I have a feeling that her last name must have some relation to the allusion the writers were trying to make, but I have yet to find a connection.

One possible reason Cerberus could want it...
It's perfect for the Tartarus fields...

Another possibility is we're looking at the system's star Saharabarik being eclipsed by Omega, and the "debris" we can see is either an asteroid field or a cerberus blockade...

What was with that old Krogan in ME2 on Omega. Didn't he serve Aria or work with her or something?

Edit: I can't remember the exact circumstance; I just remember a side mission with a particular Krogan on Omega. It comes with the Toreador allusion, if I'm not mistaken.

That'd be like sending the Citadel through a relay..

I'm hoping for all sorts of ME2 nostalgia with Omega, throw in some Suicide Mission music, Collectors, Harbinger, mix in a bit of a Cerberus subplot, let Aria get some much needed revenge, blow something up.. it could be epic.

He was the old ruler of Omega, but she "tamed" him and his lackies by using her own feminine wiles andthose of her asari..."entertainers."

Nice. It goes along with the Toreador allusion. ^_^

Wait are you talking about Patriach. The old Krogan who I bet if you saved him is running the resistance on Omega. Trying to reclam it for himself, or for Aria.

I imagine the T' in Aria's name is an asari thing, like Liara T'Soni...
Loak is indonesian for second hand, often used with other words to describe flea markets and junk dealers...

I hope he makes an appearance if he's alive...
It doesn't have to be a big role, just something awesome...

Yes the patriarch was his name. It's all coming back now. ;)
As for him leading a resisitance, I don't know. It could be a possibiltiy. You would think somebody would be leading a resistance if Cerberus tried to take over Omega.

Sorry patriarch. The krogan forms ruler of Omega right. Also um with Omega's mass effect fields, defence systems, docking bays, armory, tech, and fresh new supply of test subjects/ Reaper soldiers. Omega is a good new base for the Collectors, or the soon new Collectors ( Cerberus.
