It's really not that far-fetched, IMO. Maybe it's because I've done a lot of cinematic analysis, but it's asolutely a HUGE clue.
After having played the ending and considering the possibility of indoctrination, the scene with the kid at the beginning of the game is what convinced me 100% that IT is true.
We see a ship flying, the camera zooms out, oh it's not flying, it's being controlled by this boy.
Symbolic meaning of this scene:
1. It's an illusion!
2. The kid is in control!
3. Things are not what they seem when this kid is around!
