I actually don't much like the Mars mission and music track :/demersel wrote...
I also think that Mars track is really the best one in all the ME3. Makes you think - why is the best mission with best music is the first one in the entire game?

So...about the possibly indoctrinated squaddies.... Liara, James, Kaidan, and Aslhey.....
The thing about them - you don't really do a loyalty mission for them. And in case of James and Kaidan, you don't even do the recruitment mission! (Ashley's recruitment is eden prime, and Liara's is Therum). You could argue, that Liara's loyalty is LotSB, and Kadan/Ashley loyalty is cerberus coup - which is REALLY stretching it. But James doesn't have even that! I'm really looking forward to that paragon lost series - maybe a ot of clues there (note how they didn't do it BEFORE the release of ME3 to hype the character).
Note also that Paragon Lost just happened to be delayed, shortly after the DLC schedule was also delayed due to the EC.
[dons tin foil hat] I wonder if they were worried that it would give away something IT-related concerning James before the dlc was ready? Do you hear that hum? [/tin foil hat]

You don't acually like me either - so it kinda fits the pattern. We just have different tastes. )))
Edit: and by the way Mars mission is awesome - full of pure win.

Non IT-related tidbit/tragically nerdy confession. Sometimes when I play ME games I have this in the background to make me feel awesome: youtu.be/HiRDJLcYua0.
Why have I never heard this before?
Check out the guy's other stuff - he riffs on all sorts of games. And Shooter Guy is both hilarious and applicable to Mass Effect, so this post is almost nearly on topic: youtu.be/ALd0ILisKvI.

The best ending to any game ever. Of all time.
Already the soundtrack makes this ending great. "Suicide Mission", one of the best tracks of the trilogy.

I knew that some track was missing... and it was this one.
I don't know, but it is actually one of the best of ME 3, imho.
Together with "Extraction", "Ardat Yakshi Monastery" and "Sur'Kesh".
It reminds me of the original ME.*Man-tears*

I agree entirely. I'm envious of those like the esteemed Bill Casey who are imaginative enough to fill in the gaps and be content with the endings as they are.Rankincountry wrote...
Now don't get me wrong - I admire the idea of trying to do something different with ME3's ending. I'm even down with the idea of the final fight being done through the dialogue wheel. And the ending (with EC) actually makes sense if you play through it with IT in mind. But ME3 needed a payoff to match ME1 and 2. Now I'm not talking about a bunnies riding unicorns farting rainbows while the reapers are turned into kittens ending here. I can handle a dark or tragic ending. The problem with 3 is that the emotional payoff is just not there and it isn't enough for the writers just to be clever. It's not like, say, The Usual Suspects, where there is all the evidence you need throughout the movie to figure out what was actually going on (took me about 3 viewings before I felt like I properly got it lol). Here, we have an incomplete picture and that bloody breath scene, and what feels like a broken promise from the devs.
Sadly my imagination sucks and my Shepard is obstinately stuck in that bloody pile. I would love an epic conclusion like that of ME2 where either Shepard kicks Harbinger's ass in a mental landscape, or Shep fights his way to Harby's brain in the real world and blows him up from the inside. Or we go through the Citadel relay to dark space and kill the Intelligence on its own turf. Preferably all three in succession!
And I was also confident enough to pre-order. The Collector's Edition no less. Of which I have made precisely one complete, beginning-to-end play through. Money well spent.<_<
I'm the same, except that for me the endings somehow aren't a trilogy-killer. I'm still slowly going through yet more trilogy runs (2 done, 1 nearly at the end of ME2, 1 just started) and I'm still enjoying it. So I guess I can live with the endings, but don't have the right sort of brain to get the best out of them. I don't know - maybe it's like how you learn to live with your partner's flaws when you're married

Mars in ME 3 is like Luna in ME 1.
Cool scenerey, cool music, I get to see one of my favourite characters again and we also have the VS on our squad again. We have meat-head James crash the shuttle. We have our first encounter with TIM and a climactic ending to the mission. And it starts the main-plot (though the Crucible plot isn't that great).
I've got to say, if all missions were as Mars, ME 3 would've been great (though Rannoch Arc and Tuchanka Arc do not need much improvement).
Just my 2000000 drachmae.

Heathen!
The first minutes of the Mars mission including the soundtrack gave me the flashback to ME1: I actually felt like this is what Mars feels like...or the Mars what I'm used to from 80's and 90's scifi movies.
And the synth beats kept pumping and beating like a violent atmosphere during a martian sandstorm.
I must say though, sadly, while ME3 had great tracks that are among the best of the whole trilogy for me, it just didn't have this big, epic one equivalent to "Suicide Mission". One would've naively assumed that if one game should have the most epc track, it would be ME3.
Something totally different:
You guys finally got me the point of tin-foiliness: Shepard's siluette from the cover, with the sharp Omni-blade and the Carnifex hold in that angle, looks a bit like Reaper legs if I squinch my eyes.

I very much like James, as yes his character isn't fleshed out as it should but he's definitely not a meat head. He's often the comical relief character, yes, but that doesn't degrade him in any way, just talk to him some times, he's much more then Traynor or Steve.Restrider wrote...

The TIM scene was cool, yes, but ended too fast. As there is also much tutorial still going on the pacing of the mission doesn't feel right for me.

Agreed. I don't get the hate for him. I find him quite drily amusing, The way he flirts with Steve is quite funny too.

They did it so because ME3 might've been envisioned as clearing the ground for the main confrontation with the Reapers in ME4. First deal with Cerberus locusts, then strike the Reapers without worrying about being stabbed in the back.AresKeith wrote...

Well, a large part of Cerberus being the bad guy is that they are all indoctrinated. So, once again, while the Reapers are the real enemy, indoctrination is the real weapon.
