I really didn't like how they made Cerberus feel like the main enemy in ME3

It always felt like there is much more to it, like the semi husk Trooper on Mars, and the one Trooper at the end of Sur-Kesh, the explanation of Sanctuary was a bit lame.

Maybe because it didn't actually explain anything and we don't yet know their plan at all?
Things that are part of their plan - mars archives, citadel coup, sanctuary - all as far as we know succeded. They also got some sort of deal with the salarians, namely the Dalatress, since they do some dirty work for her. (Sur-Kesh, tuchanka bomb) - but this work is payment. Payment for what? We don't yet know.
Eden Prime dig site - also is part of their plan.
Benning is very weird too. - we don't actually know what exactly happened there.

Plus there is Omega, that is not even touched upon yet.

Belive me, we haven't even started to see cerberus in action.

News (even leaked rumors) are pretty sparse in regards to Omega. Seems pretty tight-lipped for the most part, even though there's been plenty of recent venues for BW to talk about it.

Was Levianthan this quiet? I can't remember.

Nope, but after we basically gutted every file they released I think they've been a bit more discreet.
Some of the only stuff that's been revealed are:

-New Omega & Citadel Levels (possibly two distinct DLC but not necessarily).
-Omega will become a hub world (although we don't know if just during the DLC.
-They added some files for a new multiplayer game mode that included a collector HUD overlay in the last patch.

Seeing this thread makes me sad.

Not because it still exists, but because more and more it seems like Bioware has no intentions of using any aspect of it. Honestly, I had hoped that this would have been true, and wished it was part of the game. More and more, it just looks like bad writing and missed opportunities.

I'm guessing you haven't played Leviathan, the DLC in which they included a mind control scene that exactly mirrors the first moment in the decision chamber.

Shep is on hands and knees, kid walks over, and says 'Wake up.'
Shep is on hands and knees, Ann walks over and says 'Breathe.'

(Also: wake up/breathe: breath scene reference)

Then they go on to explain how the Leviathans' mind control power can read your mind and build illusions (inluding persons and objects) from your memories. Then they tell you how Harbinger was made from harvested Leviathans. Then they explain how every Reaper has this ability to influence organics, and over countless sycles they have perfected it. So, the Reapers can do what the Leviathans can do, only much better.

This is basically Bioware saying that yes, the ending can be an illusion.

Agreed. HOWEVER... Leviathan also strongly foreshadows the Catalyst as an actual AI. This undermines the view I used to hold, which was that "Child" = Harbinger. So either the "Intelligence" is not Harbinger, or the Leviathan are just more manipulative, lying scumbags.

How do you figure?

To me, this really isn't difficult.
The way it'll work is this:
1- "The Catalyst" is the AI in control of Harbinger. It uses Harbinger's powers of control as inherited from the Leviathans to control the other reapers.
2- Therefore, as was made a bit more clear with the whole "SO BE IT" thing, the AI in the end sequence is Harbinger.
3- After Shepard survives (assuming you make the right choice) Harbinger presents the one central point of weakness of the reapers. Conventional victory doesn't need to involve destroying every reaper, just the central point of control, ie, Harbinger. It is surely possible that with enough military assets the fleets could take down this one capital ship.

This.

I'm giving them the DLC cycle. After that, [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/bandit.png[/smilie]

Agreed.

I also think that Mars track is really the best one in all the ME3. Makes you think - why is the best mission with best music is the first one in the entire game?

I actually don't much like the Mars mission and music track :/

It's the fracking Mars!!!!
Mars in ME 3 is like Luna in ME 1.
Cool scenerey, cool music, I get to see one of my favourite characters again and we also have the VS on our squad again. We have meat-head James crash the shuttle. We have our first encounter with TIM and a climactic ending to the mission. And it starts the main-plot (though the Crucible plot isn't that great).
I've got to say, if all missions were as Mars, ME 3 would've been great (though Rannoch Arc and Tuchanka Arc do not need much improvement).
Just my 2000000 drachmae.

I very much like James, as yes his character isn't fleshed out as it should but he's definitely not a meat head. He's often the comical relief character, yes, but that doesn't degrade him in any way, just talk to him some times, he's much more then Traynor or Steve.
The TIM scene was cool, yes, but ended too fast. As there is also much tutorial still going on the pacing of the mission doesn't feel right for me.

I actually do like James. He may not be the sharpest thinker, but he has a lot of cool comments.

White poppies, actually, IIRC: Opium and heroin.

Custom Thorian spores may be potent in other ways than opiates, I suppose... :P

Guys. Again - TIM is a reaper, a demaged, nearly dead rogue reaper. that uses Jack Harper as a front. He is aware that he is a reaper, but since he is demaged and nearly dead - he doesn't think like all the rest of them - he merged with Jack Harper and liked being a human - so he wants to promote humanity to be the new high race - he wants to BECOME humanity, and wants humanity to become him. He also wants to take down harbinger for some reason. In ME2 we talked to him directly - so his office was a a dream like thing - like the leviathan illusion. However, in the reaper IFF mission - he makes a gamble - shows shepard his true body, which shepard destroys. And from that point on he's either dead, with just the jack harper puppet running loose, or he is left with some back up systems (like the reaper heart). So after that he get's even more limited - basicly becomes human, and then gets indoctrinated himself. In ME2 - everytime we talk to him via QEC - we just tap directly into his brain and he produces his "office" as a space where we communicate. However in ME3 he no longer does that - he can't - he is trapped in Jack Harper, so he uses/builds a real office, and makes it as close as he can to his mental comfort space - but it is different (the floor is all wrong, for example) - the human reaper inside cronos - it is the real illusive man - he was building one of his own, but was doing it too slow - harbinger made a trap for him - the one he could not resist - started building his dream without him - that is why he wanted you to keep the base - he wanted to transpalnt himself into a new body, stop harbinger from ruining his dream, takeover his assest and use it himself.

That is why he calls himself "illusive" man - cause he does not  exist and is not really a man.

James is a good and much under-rated character imo. He is an effective foil for Shepard, and a very relatable "everyman" character. He has enough depth, through his backstory, interactions with the rest of the crew, and dialogue with Shepard, and is competent and brave - so while he does provide some humour he doesn't irritate or grate. He's physically big and imposing (and makes a great tank in combat) but done out of dedication to his job as a soldier - he puts up a front but is really quite a self-effacing and modest character when you talk to him properly. I really like him.

I definitely agree with that. I think the reason I didn't like him at first was because we got all the ME1 squadmates back except Wrex, and James is clearly a Krogan gameplay wise. It wasn't that I disliked him, it's that I felt cheated out of having Wrex again.

If the Suicide Mission track played during high EMS Destroy instead of that God-awful, depressing piano music it might almost make it bearable.
Almost.

That piano music is the best part! I sometimes rewatch High-EMS Destroy just to listen to that music while the endings play.

Maybe the trauma of the endings has given me an aversion to it. I might have liked it in another context. Right now it just evokes glum bewilderment.:crying:

Dont the notes scribbled on that page about the endings say they were supposed to feel victorious and uplifting?

The music in the end is neither victorious nor uplifting. It is sad and depressing, and while it is good music, is completely out of place in the ending sequence.

Exactly. Anyone who knows anything about music knows that. Almost anyone who knows nothing about music knows that.

Wild speculations by demersel. He thinks TIM is a Reaper. And his true form is the Derelict Reaper.
