I think we already had hints about that thrown at us in me2 and me1. The reapers built the citadel and when sovereign exploded in me1 and his little bits exploded everywhere and rained down into the wards etc, the keepers were salvaging said bits that no one could track. Keepers involved in missing reaper tech? Not good. And the keepers were just one group among the rest of the undocumented salvaging or however the human councilor says it(Anderson, for me). Isn't that how cerberus got a hold of some reaper tech, by the way? I think that was mentioned in me3 somewhere, maybe during the cerberus base or Sanctuary.dreamgazer wrote...

What's always bothered me was that he wanted to control the reapers in the end. He wanted to know everything about it and the collectors. I maintain there was only a grain of Tim wanting to help from the minute he rescued shep.
Also, I've always found it rather odd that the opening is talking about getting Shep, using shep in some way and then a collector ship finds the Normandy and Tim ends up with her body. Am I the only one that thinks that's not connected to indoctrination? Probably even loaded shep up with reaper tech for all we know, but then I go back to the asari consorts words of wisdom and within them was this whole you are great and have great strength. Perhaps it was more about strength to not be indoctrinated than for any battle. The inner battle rather than a physical one.
I'm convinced Tim was connected to the collector attack on the ship on some level. Sure he could have been monitoring intel and communications and gone after her body given she was near his location as we learn in the end of ME3, but it was still very strange he was there to revive shep whom he had stated he wanted on his side. Yet being manipulated through indoctrination would explain all of it easily. Collector's found the ship perhaps because Tim knew how to track the normandy (indoctrinated knowledge and access to what Tim knows) then getting shep's body was also ultimately wanting to learn to control them. She gets the base and the reaper IFF and now he's got what he needs.

Which people? I think the catalyst was a conversation shep had during an indoctrination attempt with a reaper, which would logically be the AI of which you speak. It was clearly not something good. But I also question if it was the true catalyst. I think it lied about everything and therefore lied about being the catalyst. I think the catalyst was meant to be the person who could make it to the controls to kill the reapers. I suspect there is some way to do but if shep chooses destroy then shep isn't even at the beam to get up there which poses the need for a whole new DLC or something which also may be why we will never get an answer because it makes the game have no ending and would floor people even IT fans. But I still think the catalyst is Shep in this case. One who leads the battle, resists indoctrination, and can set the crucible into action.
Let's face it, IT gives us an incomplete story as the reapers are still there and shep has resisted a desperate attempt at indoctrination, but the war is still on and it's basically over until shep gets off his/her butt and gets to that beam. Now this could be a DLC down the line which would be in line with the DLC we're getting now and a past one where he has to fight alone, but who knows? Peeved people already spent their money, so they could work the IT for more cash from those of us who do believe it and some who are just plain curious.
