I think London needed Reapers overhead trying to attack. It's like the Reapers put no effort into stopping any of it. Let's defend the apparently impenetrable citadel from a crucible that needs to dock and leave one guy guarding the back door

10 Reapers guarding the beam (since it's such a bother turning it off) would have crushed that plan. Heck Harbinger practically does it solo. The alliance doesn't even come at it from multiple points. Because of course all the shuttles land at the same spotand they can't flank. Heck, why don't a few ships from the fleets disengage and try to distract Harbinger? Stupid Reapers, stupid organics.

What is interesting here is that there are actually 5 Sovereign class Reapers and 5 Destroyers shown to descent towards London.

And you're even told "Several Sovereign class Reapers". I don't believe Harbinger's name is even used if you don't play mass effect 2.

OMG! No!
I was traumatized by that stupid ending...
It's so bad because it is not even ambiguous or vague, it's stupidity with 100% certainty.
They ended a series that was started under the banner of "naturalistic science fiction" and did great during the first two seasons (the third was still good, but moved more to mystery; the fourth season had good parts such as the mutiny plot) with an anti-progressive ending that supports a religious-fundamentalistic, pseudo-scientific theory, known as Creationism, while most of the characters act totally against their previous roles.
I think that the nihilistic end of season 4.5 would've been better and it certainly did match the depressive tone of the series.

Since I played ME3 in august and I already heard of the garbage endings, I feared something like BSG would happen. Can you imagine what happened when I saw the child in that chamber? I was like "OMG! Please not some religous ass-pull, not again, I won't survive that...!!!". As the child turned out to be the Reaper's avatar, I was releaved and told the child to shove it... hehehe. That's why I actually liked the ME3, since it was not a BSG finale and has lot's of ambiguity BSG lacked.

I'm not a huge fan of that series, but the religious part was no asspull. They alluded to it from the very first season.

Even since the mini series.

And shouldn't there be a ton of ground troops also attacking you on the Beam Run? It's like the Reapers made every wrong move.

Anderson reinstates Shepard.

Sure but the point is the same, Hackett's first point of contact is Shepard and he has her head stright to Mars.

So does TIM with Dr Eva. It's desperation.

Sure but it seems bizarre that they both suddenly figure this out.  Both?  At the same time?  We already know TIM's most likey indoctrinated.

From the wording you can hear he isn't even sure if he will ever return to Earth, in fact it's actually rather implied that he will not as his ship looks pretty much disabled. Usually Admirals are not on the front line, but rather in a supportive command station.

Ok fine but the admirals of the other fleets were not so lucky.  They got obliterated along with their squadrons.

Damn sorry, it was supposed to say, "not one".  The video you've quoted is one of the ones I've spent a long time looking at.  I was asking what the satellite was.  Wondering if it was closing the Citadel.

I suggest you (everybody interested in Hackett) watch the entire scene from the end of the Cerberus base again just so we're talking about the same stuff.  At the end of that scene, a ligh comes on at the bottom of the Citadel, but no beam emerges.  Compare how different that looks to the slides in the EC endings.  There's a pretty clear beam in those.

In the quoted bid, the Citadel doesn't look like it's beaming anything, it looks more like it's about to fire.

That always did bug me about the beam run...

Though with respect to the designers, shep and two squadmates pretty much cleared out an entire platoon when killing the destroyer.

Yes, also Shepard does not look into the camera at that point if you haven't played ME2.

Okay, I concede it that Adjutants do not look like Salarians.
The thing is, that I thought the foot of the Adjutant is actually the lower part of a leg with some kind of hoof as foot. But it's clearly some kind of humanoid foot with only one joint. I mentioned the problem with the hands in my first post.
Yet the heads could easily be Salarian-like. Just imagine the two horns to excessively grow until they touch each other and unite.
To the Scion argument:
Well, Collectors do have Abominations and Husks... so that is no counter-argument from Scions not being made off of humans.

Perhaps Scions are that lost race on Ilos where the prothean scientists and vigil were in ME1? They look like them with the tenticle mouths.

You mean the Inusannon?

Don't you find that odd that all of the sudden, the ship made by a terrorist group, that is considered an enemy of the allience, and is full of unknown tech (which may even be reaper tech since cerberus is known to play around with much of that) - suddenly becomes the flagship for a commander of the whole fleet which is prepping to fight the reaper invasion?

edit:
And it's QEC which used to be point ot point to Normandy to Illusive man is suddenly modified to communicate along all the most important personas in the fleet?

The problem here is that the beam in the EC is imo just there to demonstrate the difference (in one ending the beam is active, in another it is not). You wouldn't be able to see a beam of light 1.5 to 2 meters in diameter from that distance. Because of that it is my opinion it wasn't shown before but in the EC to only differentiate it.

THANK YOU!

The only thing doing any killing was the urination beam from the reaper. I call it the urination beam because every time I see it in the opening scene it looks like a massive four or six legged machine from hell is peeing red lazer on them. And I can never get that out of my head as soon as I see the beam. I'm like 'oh noz, don't get peed on!' Sorry for the tangent.

But yes, it sure seems like they don't mind having them rush the beam. No brutes. no banshees. ONE MAURAUDER. That's who they've got guarding the beam of light. And of course, I'm thinking of that new age symbolism that comes up a lot these days 'go toward the light' or in some cases 'don't go toward the light'. The light is generally DEATH.

Not really. Its a damned good ship, and the alliance engineers basically tore out everything inside and replaced it to make sure it wasnt bugged by Cerberus. That was the point of the the retrofit.

In my opinion it's because they didn't want you to fail (from a design perspective) and it would most probably interfere with the scenic quality of the beam run. I guess they wanted the player to notice it hits everything with total precision but Shepard who it misses 3 times but got closer with every shot until the fourth knocked her out.

@Megumi
Yeah it's as if Shepard is warning the player about what's coming, and I'm not just talking about Harbinger shooting at them.

@Spotless
Yeah what's wierder is all the alliance troops and the gunships are just shooting at nothing it's such a ridiculous scene.

EDI has Reaper tech in it which is confirmed, but that is actually the only part of the Normandy where Reaper tech is involved.
Also the QEC was a complete redesign and has little connection to the old one.

But the Alliance doesn't know reaper tech from a rock. They're still denying it exists. So while the cerberus ship is probably loaded with it given that EDI had it so why not stick it all around the ship, especially since Tim loved to stick reaper tech in everything, including himself, nobody knows it or realizes it. They probably would pick it up, dust it off and put in on the counter without a thought if they found it on the floor.

The Normandy was a little wannabe reaper. No doubt there.
