Remember that husks from Sanctuary are delivered to TIM. I haven't seen any on Cronos.
Husks were delivered to TIM? When was that shown to the player?

TDM thinks he can beat Reapers at their own game. Indoctrinated. He advocates control
Synthesis is total compromise of ones self to the Reapers. Synthesis is getting ascended. Please step into the beam
Control is the fools errand. Control is getting indoctrinated, having Harbinger assume direct control.
Destroy is resisting.

Closing words: BSG really had ****ty endings.
I don't hate it, personally. Could have been better, but it wasn't in the same league as LOST.
The whole deal with Starbuck was just weird. I don't know why they went that route. But its easily ignored in the long run, considering the strength of the rest of the ending. And yeah, I didn't even mind them finding Earth the way they did.
We got payoff (Cylons being pacified and leaving to explore the galaxy by themselves), closure (bar Starbuck, but whatever) and even a bit of a hint that 'maybe it all really happened' - even though obviously it didn't.
...off topic. I think its down to personal taste, though. But I do agree that the whole 'One True God' thing should have been resolved. As should have why Baltar could see Six even though he didn't have an implant (apperently) other then some vague suggestion that 'God did it'.
I swear, sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who likes the LOST ending.

That is interesting. Control is the hardest to explain in any ending. I don't remember anything like it being foreshadowed in the game. (In terms of the symbolism used - of course TIM for one is a clear representative of the dangers of trying to Control).spotlessvoid wrote...

I can imagine a movie (this must have happened in a movie before) where a character grabs a control lever or throttle and tries to manipulate it, only to get electrified and find that the lever is now controlling the character! And can't get his hand off it. Nightmare fuel indeed.
It does make you think of the dangers of trying to control machines - how they improve life but can also create serious problems of their own. I think this is a big theme of Mass Effect - how machines (and technology) become invaluable in our lives, but still create new dangers for us - the worst being the Atomic Bomb (so far).
I used to think that maybe the Citadel scene was supposed to resmeble a car crash to hit this point home...

It's only because I understand that LOST is urban fantasy with low magic and not the science fiction or modern fiction that people thought it was.

To get over the rather traumatic realisation that I may have inadvertently come up with a plausible idea in which Shepard actually killed herself to avoid being turned into a Reaper, I decided to cheer myself up by creating my first POLL! Vote now!

"All organics must destroy or control synthetic lifeforms."
I know this is only the bravado of a rogue AI on the Citadel, but its interesting none the less. I picked up on this during my last playthrough as well. From its perspective, the downtrodden tool that's seeking escape, that's how it sees organic motives - destroy or control.
And thus, looking down at their inferiors in an inverted manner, the Reapers only really see two ways to deal with organics - destroy or control. If they can't control you, they'll destroy you.
And ultimately, Synthesis is both of them at the same time - destroying organic life, and controlling what results from the merger. Its machine effieciency at its best.

I'm not even sure its that, it seemed to change at a whim. Which is party why I gave up on the series after three years.
First two series were excellent, however. They should have stuck with the whole 'monster' plot.

Destroying and controlling at the same time. wow. How Synthesis people don't see this, I have no idea. I'm sure it is some extreme form of cognitive dissonance that they should see a psychiatrist for.

Shepard's in rubble in london. Never even made it to the beam because you're wearing your armor then suddenly not? That's way to questionable to ignore. I still don't know how control and synthesis people justify that one or do they just completely ignore it. It's screaming WTF?! Too jarring to ignore. It's like they shove it down your damn throat. Armor. No armor. Please tell me where the armor went? Did it magically get burned off leaving my casual wear completely fine? And my skin? No burns there either? Very very very strange. Like a dream. Yes. Dream strange.
...what? You're wearing armor the whole time...
Yes, in battle. AAARRRRMMMOOOORRRR. And then the beam hits and GONE! How am I suddeenly not wearing armor? Because I'm in a dream or whatever harby is doing it me. Point is, it ain't real. Know how I know this? My armor has vanished, and if you want to be extra technical, the casual wear I'm in is not the one I have been wearing. It's the one from the opening scene. But I wear the ones with the white on the sides. So I'm not even wearing the right casual wear. So that's how I know it's a dream. It's harby. Even the first time I played it, without ever hearing about IT, when shep was suddenly not wearing armor I was like WTF?! So that's my proof. It's BIG proof. Because how does your armor get blown off you so perfectly? How? It doesn't. It just doesn't.

Yeah, we've been arguing this with them for 7 months.
Really? They're that dense? Wow. Best not to have contact with them then. They're already indoctrinated. Might go all husky at any moment. Just steer clear.

What's protecting leviathan himself from indoctrination in the first place? As far as we can tell from the abundance of reapers in the galaxy, and the very fact of Harbinger's existence - nothing at all.
So that reaper that leviathan disabled and that fell into the see could in time passivly indoctrinate leviathan.
