Yeah. Okay, helpful comments during loading screens. Short of a few squadmates, nothing really changes what happens in ME3 meaningfully. Oh what could have been...

/sadface

If you chose to save the Collector Base, you get only Control in Low EMS ending.

Really? You can never get any higher than that?

no guys, i meant how it's labeled. It does kind of look vaguely like a map of the citadel sequence

Thanks, I'll have a think about this, see if I can fit anything else in.

ME1: We work for Council.
ME2: We work for Cerberus, Council proves itself to be unhelpful
ME3: We work for Alliance, Cerberus proves itself to be an enemy, Council returns to have your back

Note that in ME1 we work for Council.  In ME2 we work for Cerberus but use Council assets (Normandy, squadmates etc.) in other words Cerberus has appropriated Council assets.  In ME3 we work for Alliance but using Council assets (Spectre status) and Cerberus assets (the new normandy, new crew members, even the proto-Reaper).

Also note that, though Hackett is the sworn enemy of Cerberus in ME3, in ME2 he actively refuses to allow an arrest warrant for Shepard that would prize her away from Cerberus.  He actually allows her to work for Cerberus in ME2 and avoids taking charge of the situation.

Uh oh........

Hardly dire consquences, for anyone playing the game seriously.  I think you have to metagame pretty hard to get the low EMS ending as it is.

Hello everyone, have I missed anything groundbreaking in the past few days?

Anderson and Hackett are indoctrinated and leading us all to our doom.  As such Shepard is the catalyst for humanity's harvest at the hands of the Reapers.  It's also possible she has to shoot herself at the end.

Otherwise not much.

Also is anyone else here going to the MCMExpo this weekend?

Is there anything worth going for?  I had a quick look at the website, not sure.

I don't think Shepard will have to shoot himself...

I think we're missing a chapter of the story.

I got a Low EMS Destroy ending on some of my playthroughs (not the main one, mind you). The whole convo with the Catalyst feels ridiculous when he presents you with a "choice" of a single option. Posted Image

Well, maybe the little decisions like the Rachni, who basically say they'll save you at the end, and other things like what's been mentioned in the last few pages, and more, will ultimately end up having a big impact. Hopefully, Bioware delivers

Hopefully.  The lack of Rachni is one of the hardest things for me to stomach (considering most of my other grieviances are solved with IT).  Or seeing the Normandy upgrades actually do something, or having Geth/Krogan/Quarian/etc troops helping me out on Earth.

But hey.

Who is that strange woman wearing armor painted like Shepard's? Conrad Verner's wife?

Theres no possible way it can be worse than Moonguard US Goldshire.

Haha, it's like there's two rules for Goldshire:

1. Every server has one.
2. The one on your server is definitly the worst.

Nah, my server is Azjol-Nerub. Its Goldshire is perfectly fine.

Its just a fact that Moonguard Goldshire is the absolute worst.

I'll log on and take a screenshot of normal everyday happenings in Moonguard Goldshire just to prove it.

This is actually a slow day for Moonguard Goldshire. I'm not sure where everyone is.

Also: The first thing that happened when I went in the inn was someone whispering me asking if i was interested in having a slave.

Its a hive of scum and villainy.

It's an easter egg, pre-rendered and it really would require significant work to make one for all combinations. They felt it was post credits and felt it acceptable to not make it consistent to what armor your Shepard is wearing.

It is not an easter egg. And it certainly isn't post credit.

I actually think it's possible to wake up in all endings, or at least Synthesis/high-Control/high-Destroy.

Possible, but not signs of it yet.

It's also an argument against control. I went in there to study the tactics of my enemy to see if I could use them against him. All that happened was my IQ got permanently lowered just from proximity. It's worse than the first time I played WoW and unwittingly strolled into Goldshire.

Let me guess, Proudmore EU server?

Never ever ever go to Goldshire on that server.  Ever.

Or Silvermoon.

You mean Moon Guard?

You're on Azjol EU too?  Small world.  Decent server though, even if the population is a little stagnant.  Recruiting is becoming a pain again, and guilds are fragmenting into smaller and smaller isolated communities.  The only one that seems to have huge numbers these days is The Blood.

"and when the time comes we will add our voices to yours" - Rachni Queen.

I know I must be sounding like a broken record, but Rachni Queen is my greatest disaointment and hope in many ways. Here is even an idea for how a scene where the Rahcni Queen saves Shepard could play out.

Shepard is lying in the rubble only half awake when suddenly the Rahcni Queen appears above him, looking down at him.

Shepard losses counscous again, ending up in the forest from the dreams. The kid is standing there with his arm stretched out waiting for Shepard and Shepard walks towards it. But slowly a hum starts to sound, rising until it becomes a melody, vivid colors washing through the grey forest, obscuring the kid and the melody rising to a pitch just as Shepard just as he wakes up.

At first Shepard is confused, but looking around the Shepard sees his the Rachni Queen squad, some watching him and others shooting at what we presume is Reaper forces. As Shepard regains focus we see that Rachni are holding of a tide of Reaper troops advancing on the position and just as Shepard staggers to his feet a Ravager takes a shot at him.

The Rachni Queen intervenes saving Shepard even as she falls over, mortally wounded. At the same time we hear a shriek from the other Rachni and they run wild charging the Reaper forces and riving them off.

Perhaps a few last words from the Rachni Queen, quickly laying down what happened in his mind before dying, Shepard looking at it with a sad expression before beeing extracted along with the squad.

That could be a beatiful and sad sequence. The death of the Queen or even the entire sequence playing could be based on your decision in the chamber, the Destroy choice not playing it or killing the Queen as Shepard breaks free himself.

But if played, the fact that the player would know that his wrong decision cost the Queen her life would be harsh, even more so knowing that she saved Shepard from a fate worse than death. And there would be a certain beauty to the Rachni Queen who Shepard saved against all advice, dying to save him.

Maybe a bit too elaborate a sequence for something which many might never see, but hey I can dream...plus I really want to hear the Rachni Song, even more so "see" it as they see it and that could happen in uncounscious Shepards mind.

Even if we dont get something like this in ME3 I hope saving the Queen and by extension the Rachni is a cannon choice  for ME4. Sci-Fi really needs more friendly, hive mind, bugs :P
