I don't know who's idea it was first (I think it was mine but I am not sure.) but it is quite possible I believe. It might even be happening right now really. Just look at what TSA uncovered. Stuff like "Citadel_Hot" aren't being used at the moment in the game, so it must be for a future DLC.

Ah I see, thanks. Are these large files do you know? Do people have any clue what might be in them, or are they completely indecipherable?

I don't know either, but I'm going to hijack your question with another question: Could they release a 2GB DLC with two or three day-one DLC patches that are 2GBs each?

I suppose they could. Can they not just break DLCs up into Part 1, and Part 2 and so on?

I believe some of the digital distributors may have rules in place, against DLC interdependence. Not sure.

I wouldn't know myself.  Maybe TSA knows. :P

Voted Yes. I'm with ShotgunJulia, I'll support anything that gives this otherwise brilliant game a better ending. Puzzle theory, IT and its variants, whatever gets us blue babies (or equivalent depending on LI.:D)

Another quick hypothetical as the speculation machine is running on fumes until Omega comes out.

How would you guys feel if Omega adds a scene to the ending wherein Shepard snaps out of the illusion, and stands up in London to find Harbinger glowering down at him; right before the screen fades to black with the dreaded words "To be Continued" possibly in early 2013?

Joyous vindication or seething disappointment? I ask because I think Bioware would be well advised to rehabilitate Mass Effect's reputation before Christmas if they expect to sell any trilogy packs, but the kind of wake up DLC worth doing would probably take months of work.

I wouldn't care how long it would take. Just having that scene at the end would be epic.

I would very much feel the same. Just knowing the resolution was definitely coming, in the not too distant future, would allow me to enjoy the game again.

That's what I think (and hope) may be the DLC we've been waiting for. TSA has found references to 3 seperate dlcs in the files, and Bioware have intimated that they have more DLC planned. Plus there were those unconfirmed rumors from Clevernoob about Project X

However we can't be sure that it won't just be more mid-game dlc that doesn't affect the ending, and until we are, I'm really not inclined to buy any more DLC. I need to know there's the possibility of a happy ending before I can invest in the franchise again - emotionally or financially. But if they want to throw us a big bone with a little wake up scene included in Omega I might feel like buying it, and Leviathan, after all.

I support this strongly. I had most of those thoughts even before I knew that a theory like that exists. In fact, I learned about it while I discussed IT on Youtube. Someone recognized my points and told me about it.

More Omega speculation! Does anyone else get the feeling this short scene is going to be added after the breath scene? I do!

If it means Collectors, Scions, Pretorians et al in single player on Earth then I bloody hope so! Would make for a hell of a final battle.

Aww man, Omega feels so close, but we still have a month to go:crying:. Let's hope Omega is massive! (how much bigger is it than LOTSB in terms of content/missions?)

My soul

Burns

With a fire of darkness

Quenched only in the pain

Of loneliness

I hold my breath waiting

Until spots appear black as the past

And fill my lungs with lies of hope

I mark myself

Black and jagged

To cover the scars

That make me a monster

A warning

This is not a place of honor

No esteemed dead are buried here

Hehe, I would've loved it if Harby had shown up on Dagger. I also notice his eyes are yellow, somewhat sour yellow.

It would make sense if Collectors were made use of in SP. The pizza and escort mechanics made it over and the number of new enemies and strategy they could bring would certainly make the Earth battle more interesting.

I voted no, it doesn't make sense to try to specify everything. You cannot prove what really happens and therefor you cannot support one over another (as long as both are valid, not something like TIM is a Reaper) Also the problem with most theories is they see something and make too many assumptions because of that. I never understood the need for dissipation to push their own theory.

Hrmm.

So Samara's loyalty mission. Morinth attempts to mind-control Sheppard (as she does with all her victims), but if Shep's paragon or renegade level is high enough he/she is able to resist it.

I'm sure we all know that already. But its interesting to see that Shepard can resist telepathic attack if his/her convictions are strong enough.

So it's IT or nothing?  Sounds like the 'us and them' mentality that drove me nuts a while back.

A few things (sorry to keep popping in and out like this, had no time today)

About Hackett, I wasn't trying to start a 'Hackett is indoctrinated' theory.  I just pulled a lot of info from the codex about the Fifth Fleet and the Systems Alliance.  There is a huge amount of information in there, realtive to the total information we have on the Alliance and Hackett, that at the very least casts doubt on his character and motives.  It doesn't prove anything.  I don't expect people to think "omg indoctrination".  At the same time I raise an eyebrow when otherwise rational posters here say "hackett indoctrination idea is retarded" and then use a strawman about an old circular argument as their proof.

He could be indoctrinated; it could also be a red herring.  In some ways, if you consider his actions dubious, it would be worse if he wasn't indoctrinated, because he would be abusing his position to gain ultimate power.  You may not consider his actions dubious.  As I said nothing has been proven.  Just highlighting some codex and in-game dialogue, that is all.

About the Kid - we accept (all of us?) that any hallucinations or dream elements comprise things the 'dreamer' has seen before.  If the Kid is a hallucaintion from the beginning, where might Shepard have seen him before?  Might be that he was genuinely on the roof playing with a toy Normandy... maybe not.

Also a couple of random things (these could be serious red herrings):

Vancouver: why are all the numbers prime numbers?  Why are four major buildings labelled 2 3 5 7 in that order?

Are the first husks we see really trying to get away from us?  They look like they're banging on the window to escape.  They don't attack you until you start killing them.  You have to kill them to proceed.  Any chance they're human but we're seeing them as husk?

London: Why do we see jet fighters fly over us after the turret bit?  Have we ever seen this before?  What are the jet fighters?  Not Normandys right?

Something Hackett says about blood (bleed us slowly etc.) : this is getting really speculative now, but is there any evidence suggesting blood is what the Reapers are after?  The soldier in the room with Liara is primarily concerned with stopping blood.  No doubt this is of crucial importance when tending a bleeding wound.  What about the artwork around London?  All seems to be based around splashes of colour - red, orange, blue, green, yellow.  I am no art critic so I'm not sure what these pieces might symbolise, if anything.  The only thing I could come up with is the mixture of the blood of different races.  Is there anything in this?  Don't want to waste my time thinking about it if there's nothing there.

No, that's exactly what it's not. I'm just rather interested to see the options side by side, to compare them, getting pros and cons of each, and find a new solution.

I don't personally begrudge any other interpretation (within reason), but IT is the one that fits most with the facts for me right now.  If it turns out to be something else that also makes sense, then great.

I can understand not wanting to get behind the other theories though, even the similar ones with a lot of overlap.  There's only so many things you can defend or support before your mind starts twisting in upon itself.

To reiterate my last post:

The point why I post here rather then in other threads is the topic is generated as an open question. It encompasses any theory that is made. Other topics only allow discussion about their narrow interpretation. That is also why I'm puzzled when someone is told to create their own thread.
