Possible, but the percentage of the population that has it is low. It certainly doesn't account for people like Ieldra, who seems otherwise intelligent.
EDIT: no offense to Bill

Sure, some might have that. But what about the other 99% ?
Maybe they were all indoctrinated before they ever played the game. Maybe being indoctrinated to one way of thinking leads to a deterioration in reasoning and logic across all subjects. How many people have you known that are indoctrinated to some certain beliefs or ideologies that aren't indoctrinated to other ones as well. It's like once it happens in one area, it makes it easier for it to happen in all areas.

The media does encourage the lowest common denominator.

Technology is a dangerous thing, I guess. But what I did not ever imagine was that it would make people dumber. That's the scariest part.

The purpose of technology is to make life easier. Sadly that sometimes means eliminating the need to think. TV for example allows one to be fed information without the need to think about it or analyze it.

At a very shallow level. From a storytelling perspective, they are nothing alike.

I can see it, but I won't describe why in here. Also, that dichotomy of decision-making has existed in science-fiction for quite a while.
Of course, I'll wait to play it myself before passing any real judgment---which I'll do, upon the inevitable AC Christmas price drop.

What the hell did I just watch?! I never played AC but I thought it was supposed to be back in the day. Why are there starchi-.....starwomen? What does that have to do with medieval assasinations? Why do writers always overreach by galatic proportions?! That ending gave me a headache.

Better ending to AC3

Assassin's Creed series is a mixture of Sci Fi and historical fiction. Basically, you are put in a VR machine that reads the markers left on your DNA by your ancestors and simulates the time period that an ancestor lives in, then you are able to live through that person's memories and freely explore the world they lived in at the time. Long story short, Ancient Aliens, Garden of Eden, Ancient conspiracies, Assassins vs Templars, Secret History, yadda yadda yadda.

I think it's supposed to be a Quantum Leap kind of thing. Nerdy dude from the future, time-travels into his cool assassin ancestors to uncover a vast conspiracy. Or something.
