Was the Ending a Hallucination? - Indoctrination Theory Mark III!
#41751
Posté 31 octobre 2012 - 11:42
Remember how every now and then someone brings up how this is very possibly a mass experiment dealing with real life indoctrination?
The PC has all three games
The PS3 only has ME2 and ME3
The 360 has all three games, AND the kinect function.
What's important about the Kinect function is-Oh come on, I'm almost done! Get back here!
The Kinect function easily makes an ME3 playthrough more personal due to the player being able to speak Shepard's choice. Has anyone actually done a playthrough entirely using the Kinect for choices? It's hard to deadpan when you hit certain conversations.
So my point is this, maybe one of these is the control, maybe the others are variables, including the upcoming WII-U version, and maybe some of us aren't so wrong in this being a huge experiment.(But still Indoctrination Theory, because you know... Yeah..)

In the example you gave, you know that there are infinite odd numbers because no matter what odd you number you came up with in your head, you could always come up with a bigger one, just by adding 2 or putting another odd number on the end). But for every odd number, you also have an even number (just add 1 to get a unique even number for every odd number). So you can see that there are the same number of odd and even numbers (even though both are infinite).Eryri wrote...
I remember watching an episode of Horizon (Nova in the US) which went way over my head, about how some infinities included others as subsets - like the set of odd numbers is infinite, but is still somehow less than the set of odd numbers plus even numbers?
So if you kept counting all the odd numbers forever and theoretically reached infinity, you'd have double that number of all positive natural numbers (in other words odd numbers + even numbers). So your infinite set is twice as large. But for practical purposes this stuff doesn't have too many uses in every day life so it's not worth taking too much time thinking over really
Thanks Davik and Restrider. This stuff is pretty mindbending, but it's a bit beyond me to be honest. That's why I did Biology at college - easier maths.
By the way Davik, please don't think my sarcastic comment from yesterday was directed at you. It was the one I made making fun of synthesis supporters which I later removed because it was a bit mean and childish, and I didn't want to offend LDS Darth Revan who seems a very reasonable person.

I appreciate the apology cos it's difficult to apologise for stuff, especially on a forum like this where anonymity allows people to act like total d***wads without consequences. But once I again I have to admit that I didn't notice anything that I might have construed offensively. So as I said before, lucky for me.Eryri wrote...

For the record, so you know where I stand, I support IT and think it's an excellent theory which covers a lot of the confusing aspects of Priority:Earth. I also think that the implications of IT were intended by the writers. It's just that I don't think IT is actually the correct ending, nor do I think it is the only reasonable explanation for the ending. But I spend a lot of time in this thread because most of the members here can actually think for themselves and present an argument, as well as seeing good and bad sides to that argument.
It's basically enjoyable to talk about the game and try and figure out what certain aspects of the game might have been alluding to, rather than trade insults and dump unfunny meme pictures all over the place, which is what happens in most of the threads on BSN unfortunately.

Agreed. This is by far the most positive thread. I find myself feeling a bit depressed after reading some of the others.

But I guess Chris Priestly's posts in the past, to leave this thread alone if someone is not eager to argument on a civil and reasonable basis, has been like some kind of firewall against the troll hordes that are ravaging other threads.

+1 for Zelda. Looking forward to the Wii U Zelda? I hope they deliver what we saw on the trailer of Wii U tech demo. That would be sooo awesome!

+1 and +1 to having fun investigating in Leviathan. I enjoyed that part of the game. As long as they don't make it all one big investigation and no other parts of RPG or FPS

Which part? I can't remember who pointed what out but it was readily apparent that Vendetta was responding to Shepard because it thought he was a Prothean due to the cipher. He didn't care much about the actual Prothean, but I just figured he was programmed by Microsoft. It was of course also obvious that he was designed to help with the Crucible. Which he didn't do until after Cerberus hacked him to make him.

Dont expect it, Nintendo seem more inclined to continue with a style closer to Skyward Sword from what I have heard. But nothing certain yet. What i do know about it however is that Nintendo supposedly has the biggest team they have ever gathered working on the WiiU Zelda, so that sounds promising.
But yeah I am so looking forward to the next Legend of Zelda, be it 3DS or WiiU, whichever comes first. Also hope they release the hinted Majora´s Mask remake for WiiU or at least 3DS, could be sweet.

EDI: "Using Garneau´s data I should be able to accomplish this without difficulty"
Notice they shield it purely by EDI modifiying an existing shield from what we see and "without difficulty" as she says.
Another interesting tidbit from that conversation is that Shepard asks why they werent affected while the Artifact was exposed and EDI mentions that it might be tied to the amount of time spent near the Artifact.
EDI then drops this gem: "With enough exposure the Artifact allows Leviathan an impressive mind control ability."
Crossreference that with Leviathans comment on how the Reapers perfected the mind control and the implications become very unpleasant. But that is nothing new.
huh. I wonder why we didn't look into this at all to install in ships or make a personal box? You would think this would be important in some way to protecting yourself. Yet no character mentions or even uses it to create a dampening field that could possibly affect how the reapers use the mind control

Javik is a more in-your-face Garrus as a guide to prepare you for the final decision. It's like with most DLC before (Arrival, Overlord) - if you buy DLC, you are more likely to understand what is going on in the decision chamber - or at least pick the right choice.

This is something I'd looked at too when I was looking hardcore into various things. I noticed that there is a hexagon at the middle of many tech screens and wondered if the hexagon somehow represented technology. The Cerberus logo has a hexagon with an opening at the bottom - so if technology = hell is the theme, then the black gates at the lower boarder would represent Cerberus guarding the gate.Hrothdane wrote...
LDS Darth Revan wrote...
Actually, i believe they are named Cerberus because Cerberus was the guard dog of the gates of Hades, who the Romans calledPluto, which is the planetoid that the Charon Relay, the gateway to the galaxy, orbited. So basically it's them saying they are the guardians of Earth/humanity to make sure no threat passes through the gate.PsiMatrix wrote...
So; my playthrough is now taking me through ME2. And Joker said something that made me wonder: "Cerberus is about a three-headed dog, the guardian of hell and yet there's only one guy running it". Since TIM is indoctrinated and 'Cerberus is an idea'; possibly related to the three choices we make?
Cerberus's job was also to keep the people already in Hades from leaving.
The implication I got was - the gate to technology/hell is open for humanity, but once in, Cerberus will close the gate shut to stop anybody geting out. I kind of saw it as Cerberus ensuring humanity's dependence upon and celebration of technology, by stopping them from ever taking a step back, directing them to embrace technology further and further, as they demonstrate by their eagerness to adopt synthetic technology as improvement wherever possible, and to acquire further tech to improve themselves and humanity.
The vague idea being that thereby humanity - via Cerberus ideals - becomes trapped by technology itself, and cannot ever go back. It's reaching quite far but I think it makes sense in a way.
The symbolism of the Charon relay was that this was an adventure out into the unknown, but it was also going into a place from where we would never be able to return.
