I wonder, mainly because I never thought to do it, if anyone actually tried NOT going into the beam during the run. Like after you kill Marauder Shields just go to the right of it instead and see if there is something you are supposed to shoot lol. In all seriosness tho the beam path probably locks Shepard in place game mechanic-wise or maybe a critical mission failure if you deviate from it.

Yeah, I tried. You get a critical mission failure. I tried to take a look at the 2D dead bodies, but the CMF came very quickly.

So yesterday I got the SMG mastery banner, then last night I got the Blood Pack Mastery, the Halloween Challenge banner and the ultra-mega-awesome Death Guard banner all within the timespan of like 30 minutes.

I can finally dominate the lobby with the image of Harbinger.

You know what's cool? If you're using the Death Guard banner and you're hosting, it says Leader right on top of Harby. Coincidence, of course, but still cool.

The Death Guard banner is the ultimate IT banner. Never going to change it again. =P

But the thing is - Sovereign was fully aware of what he is, and didn't seem to mind it even a little bit. Perhaps the destroyers are different from capital ship reapers in that way.

I agree with that being an interesting concept. To use an anime parallel (I'll do this a lot) is the Philosopher Stones in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. It the show, the souls of the people sacrificed are showed inside the stone, though in agony, but the one inside Hoenheim have actually accepted their fate and dwell peacefully inside him, even helping in the final fight. Granted, he genuinely wanted peace of mind for them, but indoctrination can play a similar effect on those inside of a Reaper.

As for Sovereign, I've always seen him as one of Harbinger's and Catalyst's top lieutenants since he is trusted to start the cycle, and therefore may be enhanced more than other Reaper dreadnaughts. an example is that it took entire fleets to kill him, yet only several dreadnaughts to kill a random one over Earth.

Look at that.  I just... ugh.  You can't hold NES games to the standard of today's games.  You simply cannot.

Go and rest? You mean it didn't ask you to continue the legacy with DLC?

Hell, I'm not sure Nintendo has embraced online technology as of 2012.

Makes me gald I got into all this a bit later. My first videogame was Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Couldnt have chosen a better place to start.

hehe. Try Zelda 2. I've only beaten it twice omg!  But ya if they do a dlc of link to the past that one is worth downloading. The original's fun. If you play enough you'll always remember where everything is.

I have played and completed Zelda 2 and th Original...and every other Zelda out there (except the CDi ones but who considers them a part of the series? :pinched:) I am a bit of a fanboy in regards to the Legend of Zelda, that I cannot deny.

Though regarding Sovereign from what i recall of the cinematic the only Dreadnought present at that battle is the Destiny Ascension (which was busy trying to get the Council away) which would serve to explain why they had such a tough time bringing down Sovereign.

Interesting. I'm not really familiar with anime, so this is new to me.

As for Sovereign, I'm not sure what's the story. The Reaper capital 'ships' seem to be the 'shepards' of previous cycles, (seeing as each cycle ends with the construction of a new capital ship) and I have the feeling Nazara is the name of the people he was harvested from. As for how much he/they remember(s), we can only guess.

As for Harbinger and the Reaper AI, I'm pretty sure they are one and the same, even though there's no official word on it.

Think about it... Leviathans created an AI, AI betrays them, harvests them and builds the first Reaper out of them. Who's going to be the mind that controls this machine? If I were an AI, and I just built a ginormous shiny new death machine, I'd sure like to use it as my vessel.

Someone else (I forgot who) posted the hypothesis that the Leviathans could have lied about the reason for creating the AI.

The Leviathans were the apex race that enslaved all the other organics by enthralling them. What if (and this seems likely) the organics started building machines to free themselves from the Leviathans? The Leviathans wouldn't be able to enthrall machines. So, the Leviathans may have built the AI in an attempt to be able to control machines. The AI then decided it wanted to control everything, so it betrayed the Leviathans and harvested them, so it could utilize their mind control powers. The end result was a synthesis of machine and organics that could control both: Harbinger.

I really like this theory.

I guess that's the point: Of course and EDI with a green visor and Joker with green eyes are a bit more visually appealing. Don't worry, I won't use it, though I feel really tempted...but hey, something tells me, that some mod might join you in your opinion and warn folks from using it.

Holy crap that CMF for Overlord is like the Synthesis ending. I think when the husk comes alive it's just like EDi being fully taaken over by the AI.

I think the squealing noises during the Prothean vision sequence don't help either, it really is quite grim.

I was contemplating usign the gif as my avatar.  Good job I couldn't figure out how to set a custom avatar then!  :P

Anime is kinda my thing so I usually see similarities.
I also believe that Sovereign's ascended race is the Nazara because, again, in FMA:B the souls are still sentient in the Philosopher's Stone and Legion says the programs (souls) inside Sovereign call themselves that.
I can see where you get that Harbinger and Catalyst are one and the same, but for now I'll address them as seperate entities. Also, that is a good hypothesis on the Catalyst's origin.

How does that support the IT, if I may ask? It seems like a pretty normal thing to say during a war with seemingly undefeatable enemies.

It's one of those many lines that could be interpreted as having a double meaning, a 4th wall breaking kind of quality. This one could be referring to the breath scene and the war not being over.

Many of those lines refer to waking up, taking a breath, nightmares, illusions, and the war/fight continuing.

Bailey: I think all the reports are starting to sink in. You can only live in denial so long.
Shepard: You either wake up or die. (...)
Bailey: I guess it's not just human nature. We all lie to ourselves to deal with horror.

Garrus: (...) "Now they find out it was all a lie. They wake up to see these things in the dark that just want to destroy everyone they ever cared about. If they survive, there'll be a lot of angry orphans out there looking for answers."

Shepard: "We did present them with a lot of unknowns. They're feeling threatened and want immediate solutions, not theories."

Shepard:  "...not necessarily our last (fight)."

Shepard: "You have to believe this is not the end."

James Vega: "It's... not right. It looks pretty, calm and peaceful, but it's not right. It's all just an illusion."
Shepard: (...) "I can hardly believe it, myself. Like everything back on Earth was some kind of nightmare."

Joker: What if this--like, everything you're seeing now--is a simulation?
EDI: Shepard, I can confirm that this is the real world.
Joker: Oh, okay, well that'll solve that. Man, good thing we have an unshackled AI around to tell us what reality is.
EDI: Perhaps I missed some salient information.

And then of course there is:

Stargazer child: "... did that all really happen?"

Stargazer: "It's getting late, but okay... one more story."

@doomsday Stargazer: "Yes, but some of the details have been lost in time"

We are starting to get some of those details, EC, Leviathan, now what will Omega add?

My modular theory, in order for Shepard to defeat Harbinger he's going to need a few things, like the deathly hallows (Harry Potter reference)

1. Leviathan to take down Harbinger
2. Aria's fleet to help provide cover for Leviathan?
3. ????
4. Profit! (or win the game)

Edit: Remember even if IT is true Shepard is still in bad shape with Harbinger hovering over him. Can't wait for Omega.

Otter or maybe arias fleet will be hovering over London giving Hammer covering fire. Let's all be honest we don't need no more assest if the EC lowered the best ending Destroy breath scene.

Also why do we still have war assets in every dlc except weapons. It's over we don't need assets, unless Bioware is planing something after the breath scene. Not really hoping for refuse countining because that just mean all of our work is gone.

Plus Shepard surviving a Reaper beam is a huge plot whole, and if they add on to this, then I would just shake my head. But people will just be glad Bioware did something, so it's 50/50 for me.

Also DD what you quoted what Joker said about " good thing we have an unshackled AI around to tell us what reality is." AI star brat hello Bioware telling us that there is an AI that is going to tell you hey pick blue and green, but don't pick red.

Also " Hope is irrelevant." Harbinger. " You have hope more than you know." Get it his/her willpower Shepard's I mean. See the similarites from brat and star child.

Also my question is this. Since earlier we talked about Reapers having the lives of billions of a race in them. Do you think the preson of each races that fought for the right to live/ like an avatar Shepard was placed into the mind of a Reaper?

Control is like the Reapers take Shepard's mind and make him/her a Reaper. Hence the CE in Control it says Shepard becomes a Reaper, not the AI/ leader of the Reapers, but an actaul Reaper.

Oh and itsn't it funny how Bioware added Nazar into Leviathan.

Bioware:"Hey guys look here is a piece on Nazar and listen to what Shepard says everytime you interact with it."
