Yeah by now I'm cool (to say the least!) with the ending content as it is.

But I absolutely need follow up on it.

Which Bioware would probably do anyway.

Only if they want people to throw money at them. ;)

My current theory is that an expansion is coming, which is all about dealing that massive blow to the Reapers on Earth, and then making the push across the galaxy.

I certainly hope so.

Anyone know about the squadmates btw? Do ME2 squadmates survive the ME2 story if you begin at ME3? What about Kaidan/Ash? Does it depend on your gender?

If you begin at ME3 a lot of squadmates are dead. I know Jack is dead for sure, and I dont think Legion was ever turned on. Feron also died because Shep didnt help Liara with the Shadow Broker stuff.

Default Shep is called FailShep for a reason.

I'm not sure about others, but I'm 99% sure that you get the "geth VI" instead of Legion and 100% sure that the opposite gender alliance soldier is the VS.

So, currently replaying ME3. Just got past the second dream and my Shepard said she misses Kaidan. Totally destroyed my immersion. No one should ever miss Kaidan.

I missed Kaiden a lot when I first started.  But I'm a much better shot now.

Damn it there are 15 pages to go through and so much stuff to talk about too but i'm too tired...

the stuff about the child and parenthood is very interesting... in the third dream Shepard comforted the kid almost as if they were related...

anyway i gotta sleep but one thing before i do... restrider's poll got me thinking about liara, cos she's such a paragon poster-girl...

but in ME2 as an information brojer, she does start to gain quite a lot of power, and does head down the renegade route quite a bit, similar to garrus... but it made me think of something else...

the power she wields as the shadow broker... isn't liara choosing to become the new shadow broker extremely similar to the Control choice at the end? she could've destroyed the base and reset the information trade to ground zero, but instead took the power, harnessed it... any thoughts?

gn, peace

Power = Sexy = Liara.
Nuff said.

How about don't pick the dialogue option that says "I miss Kaidan." on it...?

As terrible as it was, the VS decision was the easiest hard decision I ever had to make.  Every time he opened his mouth I wanted him to close it because I was just hearing Carth Onasi trying to be edgy.

The when he started coming on to Shepard... aargh... he had to get flushed.  I felt guilty afterwards though.  Honest.

Have to.... destroy.... the sun... before it is..... too late.

actually...At one point back in ME1 there was a theory that the Stars, like the sun are actually alive. And sentient. And it is them who are behind everything in the galaxy - and the reapers sort of cater to their needs.... This ties into the Dark Energy plot.

This. Exactly. I generally just say "If IT is true" so as to not sound arrogant or overconfident though. And there is always the possibility, however small, that Bioware failed and is simply trolling us.

Does this prove infinite monkey theorum?

The internet proved the infinite monkey theory wrong like ten yers ago.

I kind of have the opposite problem.  I can't seem to play Mass Effect anymore because I don't know if I should like the endings or not.  If IT is true, they're frakking brilliant.  If it's not, then I'm disappointed.  BUT I WANT TO KNOW WHICH ONE I SHOULD BE!!!!

I'm still astounded that people say 'if IT is true' because when you play the game and pay attention, all the evidence is there to support that IT IS TRUE. People who don't see it are just not able to for any of a myriad of reasons too long to list. But it is supported as truth through symbolism, themes and in the end, the choices. There's just so much that supports it and actually, if you try to show anything that supports control or synthesis as the choice, I don't think there is a thing in game that does. All things in game support that they have disasterous outcomes. Granted, to say that this supports IT being true might seem like a leap in logic, but the ending only makes some kind of logical sense if you view it through IT. Otherwise, it becomes absurd. Nothing about it makes sense. Nothing about it fits with anything in game if you are being literal about it. A starbrat appears and gives you two new magical choices? Seriously? LSD time. But people are so caught up in the game that they don't say WTF?! and question it - well, they do but they play along anyway. But really it's WTF?! and then stop. No playing along. Something is very wrong the minute that brat appears. Actually, before then we see things we should question, but when the magical platform floats down and lifts shepard into some new place (kind of reminds me Alice going down the rabbit hole) you know something crazy is going on. It's too 'magical' to be real. We've never seen anything like this in game. It's like you are in a dream. Dreams have very strange things happen and we don't question them in the dream, but when we wake up, upon remembering we think 'WTF?!" - From the moment that glowing platform appears, all bets are off and nothing is as it seems. Not that it was before that when Tim was there, but this is a whole new kind of crazy within the construct of the game. Most everyone who plays it knows it and it's why so many hate the ending even if they like whatever they chose. Why? Because there is something very wrong with it. It's not real.

I'm gonna keep saying 'if IT is true' until Bioware actually follows up with it in post-ending content of any sort (DLC, expansion, ME4, etc).

Sure, I 80-90% believe it, but I'm typically agnostic about things until some absolute proof.

I can see why you and others would say that. I guess I'm just not one to hinge my beliefs or anything in my existence on someone confiming something with absolute proof. Rarely does it ever come. Not in real life. Probably not from BW because bottom lines tend to dictate reality for most companies. So I choose to say IT IS TRUE. I know it is from the evidence. I don't need a company to confirm it for me. If it weren't true, they wouldn't have given me so much with which to work and they certainly wouldn't have given my destruction of the reapers the only way which shepard survives. But for them to actually confirm it? Doubtful. It's safer to be illusive and leave people to infer what they want than it is to take a firm stance and risk upsetting people.

I don't mean for this to seem confrontational. Seems like our posts are often at odds. I don't mean to come off this way or seem to be taking shots at anyone. I just come off that way.

Doomsday - yes i agree with you completely - it is beautiful and brilliant.
Because even if one doesn't agree with anything else that points to control and synthesis being loose options - one have to agree that while they are happening they FEEL sinister. Especially the way they show you in all the details how shepard melts and how painfull it is. And the way he/she starts to run into the synthesis beam is just unreal.

IT being true or not is exaclty the same thing as with the Shredinger's Cat. It is one way or another, but both are true at the same time until you open the box.

Playing through ME3 with a new character and I just had a conversation with Jame after Mars on the citadel. He says "It's not right. Pretty and safe, but it's an illusion." - something like that. Might not be those words exactly. Love the illusion reference... IN THE CITADEL PRESIDIUM about the citadel presidium.

Wanna hear something really scary?  I checked the text dump of the dialogue files... there's an alternate one where Shepard goes on about missing Jacob.

Jacob.

Is there actually recorded dialogue for that? If so, talking believably about missing Jacob would be one of the greatest examples of acting skill in centuries.

That is why male Shepard is superior to Fem Shepard. Male shepard would never go about missing Jacob.

At no point did Rif say that was a FemShep only line. Typical MaleShep supporter. Making wild assumptions to support your side.

I don't need Rif to say that to know it to be true . :D
