We know since ME that Hannar had contact with Protheans, in ME3 we learn that Asari also. Yet neither one was harvested in the previous cycle...

If we take the theory that says that the only purpose of the Reapers for harvesting is reproduction, it makes sense that they leave some civilizations behind. Wipping all organic life once and for all would mean the cycles end.

Edit: Also let's not forget something, ME takes place in the 22 century as far as we know humans have been around for way more than 50000 years, and I don't buy the "it's fiction they don't have to abide by reality".

Humans existed on earth for various cycles as humanity goes back to various millions of years.

Edit 2: What I don't understand is why reapers need to reproduce at all, as far as we know they are "inmortal" as in they don't age or die by natural means...

The way Javik talks about Salarians and asari - they are like frogs for him - I wouldn't say that our frogs even have a civilization.

Edit 2 - that is actually a very good question! Why do reapers need to reproduce?

The Protheans were also involved with early humans.  Or at least one of the now extinct ****** genus.  If the asari and hanar were along the lines we were when the Protheans were at Earth, then they were still at the "invented the wheel yet?  no?  'kay, be back in century or two" stage.  We were just animals without a real society yet.  The yahg have a modern society and in fact it's extremely unlikely that they won't have managed space exploration before this Reaper war is over with.

Well, if I remember correctly in LotSB Liara comments that the Yagh are a pre-spacefligth civilization but also that ( I don't know why or how ) the Council made contact with them, but their emisaries were killed by the Yagh. The Council considered them a very aggresive species and stoped all contact with them...

I thought at the time that the situation was similar to the Krogan one, pre-spacefligth civilization gets shiny tech from more advanced species and disaster ensures...

But I remember that the Council has treaties so pre-spacefligth civilizations are left alone...

I didn't understand it...

No, there've just been a lot of new topics that moved them away from the front page.

I don't know about that. I was referring to people saying that they had to chose Synthesis cause they walked forward and the cutscene started playing. Posted Image

Inb4 we get locked down for talking about lock downs...

And between all my friends, only 1 didn't pick synthesis on their first play through though he was the only one who didn't play the game for 2 days straight after launch while sleeping far less than what is healthy. Also the thread isn't running at a mile a minute as I'm going to bed. It pleases me.

Guildenstern: A man breaking his journey between one place and another at a third place of no name, character, population or significance, sees a unicorn cross his path and disappear. That in itself is startling, but there are precedents for mystical encounters of various kinds, or to be less extreme, a choice of persuasions to put it down to fancy; until—“My God,” says a second man, “I must be dreaming. I thought I saw a unicorn.” At which point, a dimension is added that makes the experience as alarming as it will ever be. A third witness, you understand, adds no further dimension but only spreads it thinner, and a fourth thinner still, and the more witnesses there are the thinner it gets and the more reasonable it becomes until it is as thin as reality, the name we give to the common experience. . . . “Look, look!” recites the crowd. “A horse with an arrow in its forehead! It must have been mistaken for a deer.”

This is just fantastic.  I could have Restrider et al bite my head off for such a suggestion, so I'll leave it vague for now, but this could explain why so many people refuse to see the final stage as a dream.

Yeah its pretty fantastic! Added to my big text file to show my boyfriend once he finishes the game :P

Today he really just toured the Citadel and started Leviathan (accidentally).

That story is an attempt to use a gross exaggeration to prove a point. IT is no where near as clear cut as a unicorn running by you, and you can't say that I've just had my vision clouded because I am perfectly capable of seeing the evidence that built IT.

That's not the point though.  It's merely showing that one person seeing something might go "wtf?"  But if a second person sees it they go "WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?"  But then, after that, the more people that saw it, the less bizarre it becomes, until eventually people just see it is as reality and don't even feel the need to explore it any further.

In other words, because so many players saw it but came to understand it at face value, the end goes from being "that dream!" to being "ah, yes, that 'dream'... we have dismissed that claim".

I just wanted to point out that Commander Bailey sounds damn scared in Mass Effect 3.

Kind of obvious, but I think it bears mentioning.

Commander Bailey: "There's false sense of security here."
Commander Bailey: "Even people from worlds that have gone down act like they're safe."
Commander Bailey: "I guess it's not just human nature. We all lie to ourselves to deal with horror."

We also know he is corrupt and Cerberus also knows that. That is likely the reason why he was selected for Commander in the first place I think

Aye.  Though I also like to think he's corrupt on a more personal level, or pragmatic one.  He cuts corners and deals with shadey people for a greater good, or at least a status quo.  I doubt he'd be in league with Cerberus, even though they have interest in him.

Of course, there's evidence he might be.  But hey.

I agree. It is likely that Cerberus & Udina and others use his background indirectly for leverage to get what they want. He might be partially responsible for the Citadel coup.

Anyway, I think his VA did a great job. He practically sounds like a man who has lost almost all the hope.

when does he say that?

Ditto. Earth's/Sol's relay is the Charon Relay. Unless there's another one we don't know about. Which part of ME 1 are you referring to?

Has anyone thought about it that the Sol relay may be leading to the Sol system and not in the Sol system?

Oh sorry guys I hit the submit on my phone before I could finish.

What I was going to say was. When I went back to talk with Garrus when we were next to the memorial wall, I couldn't help but wonder.

When Garrus ask " if it came down to it could you do it?" That's if you save the VS. I couldn't help but think about Destroy. EDI is your friend right, butwe have to kill her in ( I know but thinking literalie for a sec) if you choose it. Now renegade Shepard doesn't have a problem, yet Paragon does.

" If we start killing our friends this war will turn us into murderers."

Yet Garrus tells Shepard. " Yet it's not always the easy way out."

Its likely Udina had dirt on him, and got him to approve moving smuggled goods. Smuggled goods that turned out to be Cerberus troops.

Hense indirectly he's responsible, but he also helped clean up the mess.

Also a good question is why didn't the Reapers shut the relays down?

They had the Citadel, and they know where the controls are at, but why? Yes plot armor, but come on. They should know that if they shut down the relays the galaxy is lost.

It would have made their job very easy, but why?

Only thing I could come up with was star wars 6.

The Dark lord gave the Rebels the information of the Death star so he could set a TRAP for them once they come.

Now think about this we know that the Reapers know about the Crucible, yet they don't know what cycle or races created it?

Unless they created the Crucible by using their Indoctrinated forces to have a plan B if their plans don't work.

You see the way I see it is that the brat is the emporer and you are luke ( no vader just luke and the Dark lord) Now luke has a choice join the dark side and his friends can live. Don't join the darkside and you and your friends will die.

I know I didn't do a good comparison, but it's just a thought.

But it still bugs me, when he's behind that door when you've saved the council. Something feels wrong with the dialogue, and I don't know what it is. This "they run for the keeper tunnels ..." don't know. Somethings wrong there but I don't know what it is.

Okay I have said this before and I will say this again. Weather you have low assets or high assets you help the Reapers.

Low assets_ if your Shepard doesn't have a high assets, then it makes the Reapers job easy because you didn't prepare the galaxy at all making it easy for them to take them all out ( the races I mean).

You failed to bring enough assets to Earth and at the cost most og your forces are gone by the time you reach the FOB.

Thus the Reapers can win. I mean if the endings are fake, then it you failed everyone and in returne they all die.

Now if you have high EMS, then your Shepard has prepard the galaxy enough for it to stand up and fight. Now if you are massing a hugh *** fleet to take back Earth ( which I think Harbinger knew Shepard would because that's Shepard's people Harbinger is harvesting/ killing) wouldn't the Reapers plan ahead.

Think about it why wasn't mars hit by the Reapers? They were passing by it, and it's funny because once you leave Mars the Reapers are there. Also Cerberus/ TIM is Indoctrinated right, so if you think about it the Reapers sent TIM to the arcives to take part of the crucible desgin so that Shepard can wonder what it does/ build it.

Now if you think about the time gap Asari ever tell the galaxy about the Reapers/ the Prothean VI if they knew about it? Why didn't the Alliance share this whith the comitte, or even start to build it?

Something doesn't add up.

Yahgs are a few decades behind our real life technology.  They pose virtually no threat to the Reapers themselves.  Sure, a yahg would make an awesome shocktrooper but dozens of eyes and the ability to throw half a desk doesn't help against a mile and a half long metal superdemon.  Thus, the yahgs would be among the last species hit.  And again, the game ends before the salarians are hit.

Again, there is still a point of Brutes looking very yaghish, rather than kroganish. :D

I did a side by side comparison a few months back and showed all the points where it's blindly obvious that brutes are designed off the yahg model. I wasn't really sure why, but found it interesting. The replies where what you expect from anything outside this thread: completely devoid of intelligent thought. "The codex says they're krogans." "I know but I'm sa--" "The codex says they're krogans." "Yes but I'm wondering WHY they--" "Krogans. Codex says so."

On that topic:
The codex says they are krogans. The codex also said that the relays/Citadel were Prothean tech...
And I think that the Yahg are not a publically well known race and thus they may have mistaken brutes with krogans?

Also why is it that UK head quarters where hit? Just why? Itls the place where priorty Earth takes place London I mean. It's where Anderson is from? Weird that the Reapers choose Anderson's birthplace for the Conduit. It just I don't know.

Most of the time the Reapers are the ones behind everything.

It's just that I don't believe that the Reapers are just stupid. They can be over confident, but the end it just doesn't add up.

They build a conduit in London, and it takes use to the Control panel? They don't have a good defence force to protect the conduit.
