So I'm gone for a night and suddenly, a storm of negative waves. Estebanus steps down from believer to supporter, everyone's freaking out over Chris' comment. *sigh*

Look, Indoctrination Theory is a mother beautiful theory. It elevates the Mass Effect series as a whole from just another cthulhu-lite to a properly epic story: the fight for freedom and choice against cosmic tyranny. The finale is Shepard succumbing to that tyranny or staying true, holding fast, telling the Overlord that the galaxy will not accept it. With that in mind, we got the climax of the series: The battle for Shepard's soul and the soul of the galaxy is won or lost. We don't neccesarily need to Take Earth Back after that. The reapers have thrown their best efforts at us, and we beat them all or fail in the end.
Did Bioware intend it? I don't think so. I think we came up with a better interpretaton than even Bioware foresaw. I'm here not because I expect Bioware to reveal It conclusively (they'll never do such until the end of the DLC cycle), I'm not even here because I
want Bioware to endorse IT. I'm here because IT is a mother beautiful theory, and it's
our mother beautiful theory.
And I've long since given up taking Bioware's statements seriously. I'll take their
content seriously, but not their statements. They've dodged, obfuscated, and outright lied too many times to be trusted. Only what they
make truly matters anymore. And from what I've seen, what they made still leaves IT as a valid interpretation. Still leaves IT as the
best interpretation.
Your belief is not required. Your support is not required.
Bioware's support is not required. All that is required is a desire for a good story. And unless I've missed something big, as far as Mass Effect is concerned, IT is the best story we have. And until it isn't, I encourage everyone here to continue holding the line.
End of line.
P.S. Why do I always show up hours
after the discussion I want to reply to is over?
