How do we know control would ever be given. You are trusting a thousand or so sentient million + year old machines who mind control and synthesis everything in their path on the 50k year clock when you are told they will let you control them? After harbinger spent all of ME2 telling you how inferior you were? That reads a lot like the abusive cycle which we all know never works out well. Going on in game information, I'm not seeing how they would ever give over their power to shepard unless I missed some crucial moment where they said something other than SERVE US. A servant doesn't control. A servant is controlled.

Let's both stay. We'll just ignore anything that instigates. And I won't call anyone idiots (or other names) anymore.

At no point does Shepard even control the Reapers. An AI copy of Shepard does.

If it is an AI copy, wouldn't it still be inferior to the reapers so could they be trusted to continue to allow this AI copy to control them?

Which is why I can't support the puzzle theory. Your friends and allies tell you to destroy, not to 'don't do anything if you're unsure'. Not to mention the fact that refuse wasn't one of the original endings.
That's what puzzle theory is? Lulz. I don't think they understand the difference in power between the two sides. We're not just a little bit short of a toe-to-toe victory, we're launching everything we've got at a small fraction of the Reapers' total forces and hoping that their suicidal assault will buy enough time (another hour or so?) for the suicidal assault on the ground to get the job done. A few more assets won't make any difference in a straight up fight.

This is the only thing I can come up with that supports (kind of) synthesis.starlitegirlx wrote...
When my POV is supported by tons of in game information be it dialogue, symbolism, foreshadowing, and none of the other choices which are not my point of view have any in game support (as in control being the best choice or synthesis being the best choice - there is NO evidence to support those POVs.) Find me evidence that control is the best option. Find me evidence that synthesis is the best option. Find me evidence that IT is not possible. IN GAME. I have looked. I have found only that Thane's aim to control his son's destiny worked out better for his son and that Samara killing her daughter (a form of control) was the best. However, Samara was unhappy about having to make that choice. It left her with deep regret. I cannot find anything that supports synthesis. Please find me things and I am more than willing to look at them and seriously consider them. But do not say that I am ignoring things not fitting my POV because I have not seen anything or perhaps I missed those posts.
Also, a hypocrite is a person who does the opposite of what they say or do. I have been on the other side - a non ITer who chose control and stood by it. I learned about IT and examined the game and all information given and now I have strong enough evidence to support IT and destroy. That removes me from the hypocrite camp especially when I am saying show me evidence in game that supports control and/or synthesis. I will reconsider. I will examine it. Show me anything you've got. That alone removes me from being a hypocrite. However, I've yet to see one thing presented that does not fit my POV.

That one works both ways. The turian also says the universe loves diversity.
I looked. I honestly looked. And it was very hard when I've got the genophage and quarian/geth war screaming at me as to the destruction that meddling with genetics and control cause. Funny think is that it would be easier in an ignorance is bliss kind of way (I'm not saying people choosing control or synthesis are ignorant - I'm avoiding that from now on, but the saying holds true) if I were an avid control or synthesis person. I'd be content with my ending with shepard as a god figure head or Edi speaking of utopia.
Then there are all the IT references to nightmares, illusions, etc. Alternate realities all foreshadowing. Now if it were only a random use of the word but I think we hear nightmare at least four to six times. When we don't hear it, it is implied about what is reality vs illusions. That happens a few times with Vega and was it Garrus. That's a lot of referencing to alternate realities, plus leviathan.
I cannot just unknow these things and I cannot just pretend they don't exist. I could try to pretend they mean nothing but while I may accept that there are coincidences, I cannot believe there are that many of them. Cie la vie. I'm an ITer.

I'm still wondering if BW is running some kind of sociological study on its gamers. We're all test subjects. They are the masses. Always have been. Always will be.

Well, the end of ME2 was similar (to some extent). After passing the Omega-4-Relay, the Normandy destroys the Collector Vessel and then starts one of the most awesome missions of gaming history where you destroy the Collector Base in the end.starlitegirlx wrote...
I'm saying that I think because I believe Gerrel's actions foreshadow destroy and then that whole series of missions ends with a fleet killing a reaper, I suspect we may not have seen the last bit because no reaper was killed yet since we left rannoch but most especially since london. And it's interesting that it took a fleet to take down that reaper on rannoch. But on earth, no reaper is taken down. No reaper is even attacked. It's all about getting to the crucible. So if we use the rannoch series of events, that final part where the reaper is killed has yet to happen. I'm wondering if that's going to come into play in DLC at some point.
So I guess, yes, it's what I think is the first part of the final act IF my suspicions are correct.

But what have you done with your "awakeness?" what good is being awake if we don't do anything with it? I think what Megumi means is we shouldn't try and put ourselves on a pedestal on the others and call them "blind" afterall, we don't know for sure anymore than they do so it is folly to assume we have the answers. Though admittedly thinking we have all the answers is something humans just looooooove to do.starlitegirlx wrote...

It's not superiority if it's a fact. Look around you. The world is filled with automotons who just act and don't think. We're all indoctrinated to a myriad of beliefs. Some are far more dangerous than others. Some seem harmless but are destructive nevertheless. If you aren't aware of how various elements of the world will use and manipulate you to their agends either for profit or power or whatever else they want, then you are a tool and at some point in life people should be able to figure it out. If not, they do lack the ability to see through the veil of lies that we are told and yet one by one these lies are peeled away like layers on an onion until the truth is seen. How many times does one have to see that to figure out the only true path is the one that is yours and follows nobody else's as laid out for you.
People either wake up and see what is happening or they don't. That is not superiority. It is not a sense of superiority. It is awareness and not taking things at face value or as they are told to you. It is having a mind of your own that you use to discover truth. You don't just accept something as truth because it was handed to you on a silver platter. You set out to discover truth, your truth or truth in general.
Label me or my words as you will. It is of little concern to me. I am awake. I am aware. Does that make me superior? No. It makes me awake, aware and able to discern what is a lie or manipulation from what is not.

I understand Puzzle Theory, but I don't believe it leads to a successful Refuse. It's the only part I disagree with Jade about. I think Refuse is the developers being passive-aggressive.
I can see that, yet at the same time, I see Refuse as them being passive-supportive as well. Refuse, as shown in the EC, bolsters certain IT-related ideas.
In fact, a lot of EC and Leviathan give me this feeling of Bioware going: "Alright, you're on the right track here, here's some more to keep you busy. Keep up the hard work!"
Did I mention that I like the Doctor?

The Reapers might consider themselves groundskeepers for the galaxy. Pruning away at 'branches' of evolution that become too advanced. Could be no coincedence that this guy likes the idea (in a half-joke kind of way).
It's been mentioned before I'm sure, but still interesting...

We don't have all of the answers. The literalists seem to have none of the answers though. Yes, they are blind. There is too much to IT for it all to be "bad riting" and coincidences. The writers may be misleading us, but they certainly intended for us to at least question if the ending was a Reaper mind game. I don't have to think above average of us to think below average of litalists.
