*ahem*
Sorry.
What is this blasphemy?
People are asking why Empire Strikes Back is considered the best?
1. Bad guys win
2. Iconic scene in the Wampa cave with Luke and the lightsaber
3. AT-ATs. Nuff said. EPIC battle in the snow.
4. Boba Fett
5. Lando Calrissian
6. The asteroid field!
7. Vader chokes one officer after the other
8. Yoda in his coolest 'version' of the entire saga
9. Jedi training
10. The cave scene with the vision
11. Han's carbon freeze
12. Epic duel between Vader and Luke, and the bad guy wins
13. Vader reveal
14. Did I mention Empire wins?
15. Best and most iconic soundtrack out of all the SW movies
That was beautiful, Doomsday. *tear* Also, the plot was much tighter and the acting was better. This is what happens when Lucas doesn't direct. And agreed, BleedingUranium -- all six movies were largely about the rise, fall, and redemption of Anakin Skywalker. If this revival rumor turns out to be fact, it cheapens it all.
@ BleedingUranium - In answer to your question about why people prefer Empire - pretty much all of the above. The acting is far better, particularly between Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford. The way they gradually thaw towards each other makes for quite a good romance.
There are big dramatic twists, and occasional flashes of humor - "Would it help if I got out and pushed?"^_^

In fact the best star wars movies are Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. And both of them were not directed by Lucas. Though he did highjack the directing process from Richard Marquand about 3/4 into the filming on Return of the Jedi.
Not to mention that those two are the two films that were not written solely by Lucas, but he had Laurence Kasdan as co-writer.

So... the cliches were right after all?
They are. I'm still disappointed the Burger Kings here don't sell Big Kings any more.
Back on topic, however... anyone else feel that Harbinger is being very conspicious by his absence in ME3?
I wonder if Bioware are holding him back for something special...
I wouldn't bet money on it, but I bet he and the collectors are in the Omega DLC.
I'm actually betting against Collectors being in Omega now. We know there are Dragoons, Rampart Mechs, and Adjutants. Collectors too would be a bit much.
Mainly though, I think they're saving Collectors for the post-end DLC. Indoctrination attempt revealed, Harbinger's fully back, and you fight Collectors. Remember the Paragon Lost video that showed a Phantom on the Normandy? It also showed work being done in Rio as well as showing Husks and Abominations in the same place at the same timeAlso, that short clip of the Black Arc (Collector ship) flying toward Earth from the Retaliation trailer looks like it could be right after the breath scene.
I think theories about the narrative could be made just from these details
I'm gonna still say it could be a post-'ending' *EXPANSION*, involving:
-maybe Audjutants
-Dragoons (as there will be Cerberus focus as well; hi TIM! You survived? Ohhhh....)
-maybe Rampart Mechs
-Collector units, possibly alongside Reaper units
In fact, if you put the Collectors beside the Reapers, and the new mech+Cerberus+Audjutants together, we basically have each of the main enemy factions (we can't count geth too much, I mean they only got 3 missions!) bolstered by at least HALF.
I can imagine we could see all of this together in an expansion, or at least a big DLC that's not just Omega...

Indeed. Empire actually feels like a "proper" film, with some subtlety to the performances, rather than a fun cartoon.

While I would be absolutely delighted with this, I don't want to get my hopes up too much. Genuine expansions seem quite rare these days - apart from Sims ones which seem to come out every fortnight.

Let's hope not. I think Bioware is scared of the prospect of having to carry over 3 games worth of content into ME4. A previous cycle would be horrible, no known races and a predetermined horrible outcome. Earlier In our cycle would severely limit the narrative scope and would be a big step back with powers, tech, and weapons. It's going to be really tough to do anything but a sequel relatively far in the future so they don't have to account for everyone's decisions.
If Bioware is going to do a DLC/expansion (hey, I like carrying my theories along), then we can see closure with most characters, and we won't be seeing them carried over into a possibly-far-into-the-future ME4. We could have the option to carry over the 'state of the galaxy', yet it would be condensed into an easy enough form that a questionaire on ME4 would work as well (Geth/Quarian fate, Krogan/Turian fate, certain more central characters' fates, etc).

Man the bsn feels empty. I wonder if it's because of Ac, Black ops 2, and Halo came out.
I guys most ME fans are call of duty fans because the mp forum is dead, and now this forum seems like it's died down. Could be the time zones, but maybe this also. And with that Ladys, and Gents night.
Been playing Rift: Storm Legion since I got home from class.
Level 52 now... I finished almost all the quests in one zone... I got the armor pieces I wanted on my wardrobe and I dyed them in badass colors... I'm happy now.

Depends how willing Bioware is to do a Mass Effect version of Dragon Age: Awakening.
If it's coming, we'll probably know by the end of the year, not by March, imo.

I actually think the primary problem of the prequels is that Lucas did not have anyone who stood up to him or who looked over his work. The documentary "Empire of Dreams" which details the progress up to and including the first three Star Wars movies mention how especially Harrison Ford often faced Lucas during the first movie production when the dialogue simply did not work, to quote "You can write this, but you sure as hell cant say it,"
Someone doing something similar in the prequels might have helped the dialogue immensely.

Voted ME3 and Halo 4 across the board, except Female VA because both were options. Went with Jen Taylor over Jennifer Hale.

I'm a believer in this myself.
No Harbinger or Collectors in Omega, although the Dragoons, Adjutants and new mechs will clearly make an appearance. I don't see it as anything other than Cerberus-centric.
But Harbinger and the Collectors... I cannot imagine that Bioware took the time to implement the Collectors into the ME3 game engine (and drastically overhaul them, for that matter) for MP alone. Especially a free MP download. They simply MUST be coming in single player at some point.
And - rampant speculation ahoy - there's that scene with Harbinger dropping down onto Firebase Dagger at the end of the Retaliation trailer. That's not a CGI cutscene, unless my eyes decieve me. That's an actual, rendered in-game model on an actual, rendered in-game map.
