Bumping this, because I've found more that supports it:

DoomsdayDevice wrote...

This may be obvious to some, but I'll just spell it out:

The "everyone's dying" connection.

The dreams are a means of making Shepard feel guilty about the ones he could not save. When Shep first meets the boy, he says "everyone is dying". Then the boy dies, and Shepard wasn't able to help him. Shepard feels guilty about this, as he feels guilty about all the people he could not save. This theme continues in the dreams, where you hear lines from people that died in your playthrough. You chase the boy, wanting to save him, but you cannot save him, he burns every time.

This is all part of the Reapers' plan to use your guilt about all the people who died that you could not save, and the people who died because of decisions you made. They use that guilt against you. The people who don't pick destroy, their number one reason for doing so is that they don't want to kill EDI and the Geth. They want to pick a solution in which everybody lives, even if it means Shepard will die.

The Reapers simply try to exploit this tendency that people have to leave no one behind, to save as many people as possible. The dreams all play into this. It's a guilt trip. The Suicide Mission, in retrospect, is a genius way to get people to think and feel like this. The point of it was to keep everyone alive.

But as Garrus says: "... a nice sentiment. Let's hope we will be able to live by it."

We know the answer: no, we won't be able to live by it. If we think we can keep everyone alive, and let us be persuaded by the Reapers, everyone will die as a result.

Sooooooooooo, playing ME1 once again, I'm running into things on Feros that support this.

First of all, Shiala says this about Benezia:

Shiala: "She always sought the paths of peace and harmony. She joined with Saren because she hoped to turn him away from his path of destruction."

Shepard: "Instead, she became one of his most powerful allies."

Apart from being great ending foreshadowing in  general (where people don't choose destroy but choose the side of the enemy because they don't want any people to die), that is exactly what you do in control. You take control, because you want them to stop harvesting.

Benezia joined Saren because she wanted to change his destructive ways.
Shepard joins the Reapers because (s)he wants to change their destructive ways.

Shiala: "As I mentioned before, Matriarch Benezia underestimated Saren. Be sure you do not make the same mistake."

We all know now that it's not Saren who is to be underestimated. It's the Reapers.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

More great ending foreshadowing:

Fai Dan: "I tried to fight it but it gets in your head. You can't imagine the pain. I was supposed to be a leader. These people trusted me. It wants me to stop you but I... I won't. I won't!" *shoots himself*

Ian Newstead (the colonist who tries to resist the Thorian mind control): "I'd rather die fighting. My mind is my own! My mind is my own! My mind is my own!"

Shepard (after Feros): "Wanting to believe everything will be fine? Sounds like human nature to me."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some synthesis lolz on Noveria:

Gianna Parasini:  "Do you know how valuable this planet is? How many advances in genetics and artificial intelligence got their start here?"

Businesswoman: "Peak 15 has a bio- and cyber-hazards lab. If there's a problem, they should nuke it before it spreads."

Reaper brains out of human goo. What next? Science fiction at least has to have an element of Science about it. Goo does not make brains. DNA does not make brains. Pumping human goo into terminators skull serves what purpose? Does each reaper symbolise purgatory? What the hell is going on Bioware?
I don't think the "human goo" becomes the "brain" of a Reaper, rather the goo is fused with some kind of Reaper tech we don't have a name for (seen somewhat in ME2) and the combination is used to create everything a Reaper is; cables, plates, armoring, firing chambers, eyes, mind, voice, etc. In that sense, a species makes the Reaper what it is.
I still agree that his seems slightly un-hard-scifi-y. It resembles what crazy ***** say when they say "when I eat him he'll become part of me".

It's like a fireplace horror tale. If anything then this has to be an oversimplifaction of what is a highly complicated and advanced mechanism....however, I'm struggling to see how complete goo-ification can be successful at extracting anything important (that has to be of complex structure). What this can server, however is as something like a medium for Reaper functionality, not the defining functionality itself.
...which still seems kinda dramatic...but hey, at least it stufficices the explaination that we are just part of their reproductive cycle and just the vomit that the parents feed their babies with (I mean birds).

Be creative.
Just a thought:
During the process of gooification, the nanides disintegrate a body. While they are doing this, they are also retrieving the information of that body (how all those molecular components were aligned, etc.). The more bodies are melted, the more information you get and you are somehow able to get the core information that make each race unique - the essence of the race. It's like the average information, you could say.
The goo, the material, is just used to construct the Reaper, which is then constructed following the information that was retrieved in the process of disintegration of millions or billion of individuals of each race.

Oh God.  Skyrim.  While we're on the subject of trolls, how awesome of a trolling was it by Bethesda to finally give us a follower with a decent backstory and personality, add in some less-than-subtle insinuations between her and your PC and then make her unmarryable?
And the mods... I'm trying to find a mod that lets me get the Crown of Barenziah without resorting to douchebaggery for the Thieves Guild and all I can find it several dozen different retextures of the stones.  I wish modders put as much effort into story modification as they do into porn mods.  <sigh>

You sore about Serana? Yeah, I was kinda disappointed as well that I couldn't marry her.

For me been also play Empire at War FOC mods because on Dec 1st there is an ME mods for Empire at war coming out for FOC, and on the 11th a halo mod. God fighting Reapers in space.:innocent:
Really? I need to get those mods. Empire at war is awesome. Especially forces of corruption, when you get the super star destroyer.

EDIT: top!
Yes it looks awsome. I can't wait to get it. You will play as The Alliance/ mixed with the galaxys races, except the geth. Legion will be in with the Alliance, but sadly the Geth are with the Reaper Forces/ Collector forces. Cerberus is the other faction you will play as. In all I just want to play the space battles. and use another mod that has no unit cap. God I can't wait.

 @dorktainian-

here's a real example of something that eats but has no brain:

Sponges are animals of the phylum Porifera (Posted Image /pɒˈrɪfərə/; meaning "pore bearer"). They are multicellular organisms which have bodies full of pores and channels allowing water to circulate through them, consisting of jelly-like mesohylsandwiched between two thin layers of cells. Sponges have unspecialized cells that can transform into other types and which often migrate between the main cell layers and the mesohyl in the process. Sponges do not havenervousdigestive or circulatory systems. Instead, most rely on maintaining a constant water flow through their bodies to obtain food, oxygen and remove wastes.

another uses a decentralized nervous system:

Starfish have rather complex nervous systems, with a distributed brain. They have a network of interlacing nerves called a nerve plexus which lies within, as well as below, the skin.[27] The oesophagus is also surrounded by a central nerve ring, which sends radial nerves into each of the arms, often parallel with the branches of the water vascular system. These all connect to form a brain. The ring nerves and radial nerves coordinate the starfish's balance and directional systems.[31]

The Organic Battery Theory still makes more sense.  Then again a man stood on his head speaking backwards into a bowl of 50 year old custard while having his brains sucked out of his ears by a pair of flamingo dancing sloths wearing high heels doing the cha-cha-cha makes more sense.

And would make a better ending than Me3.  FTW.

For EXMEFAN (and for everyone else too to help with the IT):

A hallucination, in the broadest sense of the word, is a perception in the absence of a stimulus. In a stricter sense, hallucinations are defined as perceptions in a conscious and awake state in the absence of external stimuli which have qualities of real perception, in that they are vivid, substantial, and located in external objective space. The latter definition distinguishes hallucinations from the related phenomena of dreaming, which does not involve wakefulness; illusion, which involves distorted or misinterpreted real perception; imagery, which does not mimic real perception and is under voluntary control; and pseudohallucination, which does not mimic real perception, but is not under voluntary control.[1] Hallucinations also differ from "delusional perceptions", in which a correctly sensed and interpreted stimulus (i.e. a real perception) is given some additional (and typically bizarre) significance.

Hallucinations can occur in any sensory modality — visual, auditory, olfactory, gustatory, tactile, proprioceptive, equilibrioceptive, nociceptive, thermoceptive and chronoceptive.

A mild form of hallucination is known as a disturbance, and can occur in any of the senses above. These may be things like seeing movement in peripheral vision, or hearing faint noises and/or voices. Auditory hallucinations are very common in paranoid schizophrenia. They may be benevolent (telling the patient good things about themselves) or malicious, cursing the patient etc. Auditory hallucinations of the malicious type are frequently heard like people talking about the patient behind their back. Like auditory hallucinations, the source of their visual counterpart can also be behind the patient's back. Their visual counterpart is the feeling of being looked-stared at, usually with malicious intent. Frequently, auditory hallucinations and their visual counterpart are experienced by the patient together.

My Final Point to Prove the whole theory wrong:
You forget in Mass Effect 2, at the beginning, the Reapers sent the Collectors to kill Shepard, and they succeeded.  The Illusive Man brought him back to life, in which they Reapers didn't see coming, and depending on your actions you STOP a big Reapers project, and destroy a main base of the collectors.

Point: Reapers feared Shepard and wanting him dead, and I'm pretty sure they didn't want their own base blown up, and or in enemy hands.

Now, in the ME 3, the Reapers attack EARTH FIRST for the primary reason that they felt like because of Shepard, the  humans were the biggest threat to them achieving their ONE AND ONLY GOAL, of DESTROYING ADVANCE CIVILIZATION.

Point: Reapers try to kill Shepard again, and at least tried to take out the humans first.  This way, their path to their ONLY GOAL, destorying civilization, can go on without much more problems.  They did not want the humans and especially shepard involved.

Every time a strong minded person was indoctrinated they used their motives against them, and made them do evil things that they thought were the right things to do.
Thats Saren, and thats Illusive man.....in this game Shepard could have done one of three things depending on the situation.

Point: Shepard has no STORY motive but to destory the Reapers, YOU as the PLAYER created his alternative motives, his choices, and his drive.  By the power of him not being a static character, indoctrination doesn't work with Shepard, and it would be a bad literary and game device.  They don't even flirt with him being indoctrinated because of this very fact.

And by the time all hell broke loose, it was the end of the game, and why would the Reapers let Shepard assemble a whole fleet and unite the galaxy, when a broken galaxy was the reason the Reapers won in the first place?  You learn this in the Promethean DLC.  The reason the Reapers won was because the galaxy was divided, and they had only one thought and one plan of attack because they only had one civilizations mind.

Point: In order for Shepard to have been indoctrinated the whole time, they would have had to let him unite the galaxy, which is counter productive to what the game actually states as the main reason the Reapers were able to succeed, a "Divided" galaxy.

The ending used the indoctrination theory on the Illusive man....

Point: The indoctrination theory, every time it was used, was outted in plot.  The Ilusive man was the one under indoctrination at the end of ME3, and you were able to talk him out of it by at least making him kill himself.  He was still grounded in reality, but his motives were taken way into the extreme, hence they end up working for the Reapers.

I doubt two Indoctrinated people would sit there and have a conversation, where one convinces the other of his wrong doing, so much that he kills himself.   Why would the story reveal the indoctrination of one, and not the other.  Also Illusive Man's indoctrination was hinted at the whole second half of the game.

The things you guys are talking about were explaining The Illusive Man's indoctrination.....HIS motives.....the reason why HE was able to be controlled.   He was lost in a dream state, he was being used.

This is not hinted what so ever about Shepard.

The theory is dumb.  I proved it wrong. You would have to ignore a lot of facts, like the reapers attacking Earth First, KILLING Shepard, and allowing him to organize the universe when they would be better off if that not happened.

The reason the game existed in Shepards point of view as the fact he was unique, that his resolve was stronger than anybody else...

And if he was a victim of being indoctrinated, that would render the character no different than anybody else in the game, and kill the reason WHY  he was the hope for the universe.

The fact is, it was something different about Shepard that brought people together, that handled problems, and that the Reapers feared and wanted him dead.

Your theories kill the meaning of the game....your theories render the game being played useless...Your theory kill the soul of who Shepard was, and what Mass Effect was all about....

I am done. You guys are 100% wrong...
