when the xbox720 and ps4 come out next year the WiiU will be just like the other wii..... a novelty item. thing is Ytook i can store items from my ps3 onto my 16gb mem stick. no problem at all. oh and i can store movies and other media on my hard drive. kerching for the win. Nothing against the WiiU personally but i really don't see the point with the imminent announcements of sonys and microsofts next gen consoles.

Don't get me wrong... I have a Wii. It's just theres only so much you can do with them....a bit like microsofts kinect.

According to Sony their next console is anything but imminent. Their current plan is too keep the PS3 in business til 2014-2015. As for Microsoft, no idea, but since we havent even seen their next console at E3 I would guess at least 1 full year before it hits the market.

Though before anyone starts to get all teary eyed towards Nintendo it should be noted that last year with the financial crisis and all was the first time in 25 years Nintendo lost money and and analysis showed that they had enough money lying around to stay in business till 2050 taking the same losses each year.

As for the WiiU I dont own one yet, but that is only due to two things:

1: I dont have a TV (just moved out) and a bit low on cash.
2: They have yet to announce a must-buy for it which i cant live without (which basicly amounts to a new Legend of Zelda game or possibly a Metroid game)

But I am a bit of a Nintendo fan, so no suprises there. Still I am more gamer than fan as I play any console as needed to play the games I want to play, it just so happens more than a few Nintendo franchises are high up that list.

Well here's a bizarre business decision on the part of EA

http://www.eurogamer...lable-for-wii-u

They're not planning to release Leviathan for the WiiU either. I find this worrying news, as it implies that EA considers dlc to be inessential for the full ME3 experience. This makes it seem unlikely that there will be any meaningful story content in future dlc. It may all be ancilliary side stuff.

I sincerely hope I'm wrong. :crying:

-1 (yes minus) on this news. I really hope they reconsider and release the other dlc's and a trilogy version

I think that more has to do with the fact that the biggest hard drive available on Wii U is only 32 GB... which is insanely small. Not to mention that's the deluxe version. Regular is only 8 GB.. Extended Cut and Omega in themselves would take up nearly HALF the damn storage on a regular Wii U.

some of us could use SD cards and/or external hard drives that are larger

There are some new cutscenes, but they barely make up half of the EC file size. The biggest files are the slideshow epilogues, which are HUGE video files. Maybe reason is it just harder and more time-consuming (read inefficient & more unprofitable) to provide an actual slideshow compared to videofile in the engine they use. Former requires definitely more programming and the interface might not readily support it.

Nope. That's not even remotely accurate or true. Writing a simple code for a picture slideshow is absolutely not more time-consuming than creating and rendering a video-file of a slideshow. Even I could write a simple code for an intractive slideshow in a matter of minutes and I don't even consider myself to be a programmer.

Interface has nothing to do with it and we already have an interactive slideshow in Mass Effect 2, the Genesis DLC. Notice how that DLC is a billion times smaller in file size than the EC.

Looks like we just found something we agree on Heretic :)

I dont know if the WiiU is far beyond the PS3 / X-box 360, but it is certianly more powerful. Obviusly you wont see much of it in the early games but the rule of console is always taht the grapshics improve as developers learn to use the console. Just look at a launch PS2 game and a PS2 game just before PS3 launched, the difference is staggering.

Also I have to ask what your favorite Legend of Zelda is as that is my one big favirte franchise ^_^

@hanar so they were able to make a smaller file for genesis so what is the ec hiding then? If they could do it before, why didn't they do it now?

Indeed. My first videogame ever was Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (beatiful way to start gaming) and been hooked on the series ever since completeing every single game released (and aquiring the older ones as well).

But other people have different games they see as their favorites. Hell just discussing which legend of Zelda is the best on Nintendo forum can become quite heated.

Genesis is ~220 MB so about only ten times smaller. You misunderstood the word interface, I wasn't talking about GUI, but about the framework and interfaces the engine/software readily provides for the slideshow. You are talking about writing a code in vacuum not about implementing it into an existing project.

Difficult question. I like Zelda Ocarina of Time and Zelda Majora's Mask equally much. Both games are bloody amazing and I have fond childhood / teenage memories of both games.

Twilight Princess is also really awesome. Skyward sword was a bit "meh". I guess I bought too much into the hype around Skyward Sword and as a result the actual game left me rather dissapointed. I expected more from it.

My favorite 2D Zelda game is A Link To The Past for sure. That game was in fact the first Zelda game I ever played.

Also, about the whole Omega and Leviathan DLC not coming to the WiiU: It's a sad thing to hear indeed, but I don't think it changes anything for us. Or did you guys really expect the DLC to be anything more than just extra stories, missions and pieces of background information on the Mass Effect lore and universe?

my first game was Stronghold. 4 years old and playing a game like that, and now I play rated M games. well I take that back. My first rated ME game was when I was 6 years old. Halo, but real it was Grandtheftauto 1.

Appearance pack is cool, but I'll only be using Liara and EDI's.

Lack of Collector weapons is interesting since they're the only three guns not in SP at all (though you can get the CAR by modding), but Mike Gamble was using one in one of the Omega demos. He was using a Phaeston for half of it, then went to a weapon bench and switched to it. Very deliberate, but why?

I know what you meant with interface, I'm not stupid. For your information, I studied Game Design & Development, so I know what you're alking about.

I wasn't talking about writing a code in a vacuum, but indeed implementing it into an existing project. For a slideshow, that's not hard at all. A slideshow really doesn't require anything extraordinary that isn't already present in the ME3 framework or engine (the Unreal 3 engine).

Like I said, BioWare already gave us an interactive slideshow as part of a DLC once before, so it shouldn't be that hard to do it again.

Seriously, have you ever been right about anything?  Ever?  Nintenblow has been selling obsolete technology since the N64/PSX days.

N64: Cartidges
Everyone else: Optical media with over 10 times the storage.  That is, 10 times the maximum storage of the N64 cart.  Did I mention that Nintendo wouldn't let anyone make a game that used too much cartridge space because they wanted to be able to say Zelda was the biggest when they got around to making it.  You may recognize this as "this generation that every 3rd party developer on Earth told Nintendo to FOAD and went to Sony where they could make make far larger games without expensive cartridge licensing fees and over the top censorship."

PS2 & Xbox: Can play just about any kind of disc released at the time
Lamecube: Plays Lamecube games, which are on minidiscs because Nintendo hates its customers.  This is also the reason that the Gamecube doubled as a space heater until it just melted into a puddle of purple plastic.

PS3 & Xbox 360: Amazing technology that, for the first time, put PCs to shame hardware wise at the time of release.  Sony actually created a new type of optical media and processor for the PS3.
Wiitarded: Screw technology, Nintendo lets you wave your controller around like a 12 year old pretending to be a ballerina, THAT is innovation!  Or something.  I'm gonna go with "something."  Biggest success preying on idiots who think weight loss will be easy with a video game character annoying them.  Doesn't have high definition.  Christ, do they even still make standard definition TV's?  No?  When did they stop?  I'm pretty damn sure it was well within the Wii's lifespan.  Not that its pathetic 730MHz CPU can produce anything that doesn't look like ass at high definition anyway, I guess.

Nintendo will be so far behind in technology that they'll need a telescope to see Sony and Microsoft's asses.  How do I know?  I have my sources.  They're called "pattern recognition."

Nah, that's exactly what I expect in a DLC. I don't see the big deal, since they don't even have ME1 or 2.
