I'll wait for the 27th, then I'll be back to laugh in your faces. I bet that DLC will have nothing to do with mind control of any kind, especially since Asari would be the hardest to indoctrinate or even introduce the concept to.

You know that's not a million miles from my head canon.

Just out of curiosity, how would you react if that kind of thing were to happen in a future, hypothetical DLC?

An actual, epic boss fight between Shepard and some grotesque avatar of the Starbrat / Harbinger?

Well first of all, I have to make clear that my headcanons are not to be taken seriously. I'm someone who just loves over the top bullshit. That's why I'm such a big fan of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (where that footage is from).

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann has almost exactly the same plot as Mass Effect, except it's executed waaaaaaaay better. It's over the top nonsense, but very cool and epic over the top nonsense.

The guys you see fighting in the video are Simon, the hero of the series, versus the Anti-Spiral Nemesis, the collective contiousness of the Anti-Spirals.

The Anti-Spirals are organics who turned themselves into powerful reapers. They reap other organics in order to maintain balance in the universe. The Anti-Spiral Nemesis is their version of the Catalyst.

As for Shepard fighting the Catalyst: I would only like it is the Catalyst was NOT a grotesque monster, but instead an elegant but rather strange entity like the Anti-Spiral Nemesis.

Asari are the easiest to indoctrinate, they're 'open' to suggestion, being esper'n all. Remember, indoc is rendered with electronics and physical association to real world experience. The matriarch was contrlolled and she was old and very set in her ways. Saren was stubborn and self engaged.

Why would that Omega DLC change anything about the IT at all? The crux of IT stands in the end game, relative to the catalyst. I can see where the theory gets it's nidus, even if I disagree with the theory.

Yeah, I don't know what's going on there.  I realize the report function only reports the thread, but you'd think after the amount of reports people have said they're doing that the mods would figure to at least read the last few pages.

I doubt you could mention even one plothole created by the theory.

At what point was he indoctrinated?  Why did they try to kill him 100 times if they indoctrinated him or planned to use him.  Why if Illusive man was indoctrinated and acting bizzare, Shepard was calm and composed.

How could they have known what the crucible would do when it wasn't built by them?  Why was the indoctrination so timely, so precise, and fitting for a random event nobody, even the Reapers, knew would happen?

Also, why would the Reapers want to use the crucible when it destroyed all the relays so they are basically stuck in the SOL system with everybody else.

Why wouldn't they just indoctrinate Shepard to not build the crucible in the first place.  If they planned on indoctrinating Shepard, why did they kill him at the beginning of ME2?

If your Shepard wanted to control the Reapers anyways, because you can basically agree with Illusive Man at points and at the end of ME2, why would he need to be indoctrinated?  I mean you can play as a Renegade or a Paragon anyways.  Your Shepard was never a static character that needed to be swayed.

Also why did you promise our decisions matter if you are now telling me my character made the decision because of indoctrination.

Also why introduce indoctrination when it would only matter if I didn't pick destroy.....If I picked destroy, what is the reason to make me buy DLC just to find out something was happening that didn't matter with my character.

First off,Shepard is NOT indoctrinated,he is in the PROCESS of indoctrination.
Second, they knew what the cruible was and they knew it had the power to destroy them.
Third, they wanted to recover shepards body after he was killed,if you played LOTSB,you'd know that.
Forth,If they were to quicky indoctrinate shepard it would make him a husk, they want him the way he is.
fifth, even renegade shep hates the reapers,so I doubt he was ever indoctrinated. If he picks control that means he's just hungry for power e.g.TIM.
Need I go on?

Fair enough. When I was trying to come to terms with the mind-numbing, wretchedness of the original endings, I headcanoned my own IT based, perfect ending to the trilogy, starting with Shep penetrating the Brat's BS with a dialogue option.

The brat would then give a demonic little smile and transform into an evil mirror image of our Shepards, with whatever class you happened to have.

An actual video-gamey boss fight could then ensue, ending with the satisfaction of Shep plunging his omniblade into Starbinger's chest.

This would be the moment he woke up in London to find Harbinger thrashing around in mental agony a-la Sovereign following Saren's destruction.

Or something along those lines. Cheesy I know, but at least something like that would enable me to play the game again. As it is I gave up around Mars on my second playthrough.

but, it all leads back to synthesis as the story requires a 'cure' for the cycle. Destroy doesn't go that far, as the creation of synthetic life, apparently, triggers a competition with organic existence. For organics to even competitively exist in the MEU, technology holds that key. Without advanced Ai, the MEU organic survival as noted in their expansion, would be limited. Logic dictates that synthesis is inevitable, so.. why wait?

We end up there anyway, as stated within the game, not only by the catalyst, but by the very nature of existence within the MEU. By taking advantage of left overs to advance within that structured enviornment, proposed by the catalyst, who, apparently, via the Leviathan obtains the tech needed to create it's experiment. IT undermines the experiment the catalyst starts, well, the Levithan starts, via the catalyst.

Indoctrination evokes a kind of hero thing with Shep over coming the influence, but still, it seem counter productive for the catalyst to frustrate it's own experiment with another control. If Shep were indoctrinated, there would be NO experiment, even it Shep were to overcome the indoctrination. That would leave destroy, and that would upend the experiment. The catalyst wouldn't, logically, invoke a control agent into an experiment the ruins the results. It would have to start over from scratch.

just say'n

I would have hated the endings less if the Catalyst didn't take the form of that little kid. BioWare's attempt at being "deep" and trying to make us "care" was too obvious and it failed. The Catalyst should have looked something like this:

You see, I didn't get that "trying to make us care" impression with the Catalyst taking the form of the child at all.

What I got were alarm bells. Really, REALLY loud alarm bells.

No-one but Shepard sees the child. Shepard is the only one who knows about the child, and the child's fate. The child haunts Shepard's dreams throughout the game. Shepard associates the child with guilt, helplessness, despair.

And then the Catalyst takes on the form of the child.

There's only one place the Catalyst can know of the child from, and that's Shepard. It can read Shepards mind. If it can read Shepard's mind - why does it take on a form that Shepard associates with guilt, helplessness and despair?

Unless of course it's toying with Shepard, or trying to influence Shepard's decision.
