General comments...
Surprised no-one really talked about the Citadel thing Demersel was mentioning...
DD's posts of the Ashes datapads were really interesting. They can definitely be seen to support the future content ideas. Certainly they have enough detail that could be seen to foreshadow something (I saw Citadel coup more myself, but there's plenty we could surmise from them)...
I know she has a funny way of doing it, but I think Megumi could do with more support, because she's actually trying to help this thread and IT in general in ways that seem to be going over most people's heads. No one wants to read massive posts, nor rants or lectures, so I'll leave it there for now. Small doses are better. But really, she's often the voice of reason. Not saying you need to be like her or share her negativity, just saying she's trying to do you all a favour imo...

You know I think that was the only part I liked about Synthesis. Ever.
I dont like how their relationship apparently only works out in synthesis. They dont come out of the Normandy together in control.
Thats a great lesson: love only works if you're both the same.
I never noticed it that way though, I guess because I rationalized that they needed Synthesis to look heartwarming compared to the other two. Put emphasis on how nice it seems.
Edit: Lol banshee, I love that second picture.
Also top? On my birth year page?
It looks pretty, calm and peaceful, but it's not right.

Sorry for the sneaky edit. I liked the Jeff and Edi romance too, I really wanted things to work out for them - but I didn't like the submissive way Edi drapes herself over Jeff in the synthesis scene. It seemed a betrayal of the strong, decisive and witty character she had been previously. Just because she has emotions doesn't mean she has to start behaving like a 1940's movie heroine.
I've drank far too much Thanksgiving wine to go back and see if everything I'm about to say about EDI in the synthesis ending has been mentioned before, so deeeeeeeal with it, but here goes.
I completely agree with this diagnosis, Eryri, as well as Banshee's "Yeah, well..." because HOLY CRAP... EDI's gonna fall in love with the first organic she has tons of interaction with? Fine. But being totally okay with the context in which that relationship gets to function?! ICK! For god's sake, my Shepard was fully convinced that a wholly sound emotional relationship could exist when Joker was wholly organic and EDI wholly synthetic. To then make a choice that only gives a final conclusion of a successful bond when I KNOW THEIR BOND WAS ALREADY REAL circa the date at the Purgatory i just... gross. It's like saying that they could only be happy if they are both comparable in terms of genetic make up. And that's just gross. And that's totally a la 1940's movie heroine. And I could be more lucid, but wine.
EDIT: Ugh! Was trying to post on my birth year but could not beat you fast, fast posters. Fail sauce.

I'm a little conflicted about the synthesis epilogue. On the one hand Tricia Helfer puts in a really good performance. On the other, I just find Synthe-Edi so cringe inducingly "Stepford". Like you said, she was already alive. Green magic not required.

Someone, I think spotless? pointed out that Buddhism teaches amongst other things to learn to doubt. It's like a fundamental principle of analysing existence. Or something. Now from an outsider point of view, at times the thread can do itself and IT no favours when it accepts any and all pro-IT evidence, irrespective of content, and dismisses any anti-IT evidence, irrespective of value.
There's a reason political parties for example will argue tooth and nail for their own party's policies, regardless of whether the given policy is actually a good one or not. Regardless of whether everyone in the group actually agrees with it. So I can see why you tend to stick to pro-IT stuff and fight against anything contradictory. It makes sense, and keeps the thread postitive.
But at its worst, this mentality lets the thread down badly. Some of the stuff suggested as pro-IT is (imo) complete garbage, and it makes the whole thing look worse as a result. You guys may not care because you're already convinced of IT, but there are plenty of people who lurk on this thread yet hardly, or even never, post. If you decide on any evidence principally on the check-box value of if it's pro- or anti- IT, then imo you can sometimes hurt the theory pretty badly.
I am too tired to continue, I gotta sleep, but as an example to illustrate what I'm getting at, take a look at the RL Indoctrination video that SwobyJ (I think?) posted, and then think about it in terms of:
a soldier completing his mission (e.g. Destroy the Reapers)
pro-Destroy supporters
pro-IT supporters

The vast majority of responses starting at the point of no return (When the LI sees you) are not paragon or renegade. Now, this happens sometimes in other parts of the trilogy, but this one is very prominent.
Basically, all of the top options after that areParagonshaken, breaking down, losing resolve against indoctrination.
The bottom options areRenegadeundeterred, confident, partially maintaining resolve against indoctrination.
This is interesting in itself, but it is also consistent with the mind trick later which is destroy appearing as renegade, and control as paragon.
Sorry Banshee, I missed this post of yours earlier. Good analysis!

Wow! That Doomsday post is amazing! With Cerberus rounding up the colonists keeping the "illusion" that there is much more troops than there actually is.
I always liked reading those logs during the Eden Prime mission. Pretty standard tactic when trying to establish control over a certain area. Cunning but pretty standard.

We already had a trial scene with Tali, and I think the pacing would have been so slow compared to the rest of the game. Why waste resources on what essentially amounts to a synopsis of the story. The only ones who needed that were noobs, and since they have no idea what Shepard has done, how would that scene make any sense to them? Plus, who gives a **** about anyone complaining they don't know what's going on after starting at part 3 of a trilogy?
Also, unless the Reaper invasion happens to interrupt the trial (way too hollywood timing for me) there's a lot of extra content to create for a Shepard that gets set free. There are better uses of time and resources than that.
There are problems with the intro, but no trial is not one of them.

I oddly have to agree with you here, and I'm usually one of the supporters of a trial. While I think I (and most trial supporters) would have been eager for a trial for the RPG aspects, I wonder if it would truly be fruitful for the storytelling aspect. It would be a rehash, as you said, and it would also be actionless. And I absolutely agree that the REAPERS HAVE REACHED LUNA!!!! was one of the biggest issues with the beginning. Like, seriously? I would have preferred a quick cut to Shepard sleeping in her bed, or working out in the detention area under the supervision of Vega, or taking a damn ****** during the first Reaper contact -- rather than what we got.
Granted, I have enough suspicions about that "passing out on the bench impact" to make me forgive just about anything in that intro...
