Okay guys, time for an experiment.

I'm not saying where I'm going with this, I just want to see if others are making the same connections.

Just read this:

Shepard: EDI, you're in Dr.Eva's body?

EDI: Not all of me, but I have control of it. It was not a seamless transition.

Shepard: Transition? You blacked out on us there, for a while.

EDI: Correct. When we brought this unit on board, I began a background process to search for its information on the Prothean device. This eventually triggered a trap - a backup power source and CPU activated, and the unit attempted physical confrontation. Fortunately, I was able to gain root access and repurpose it as I saw fit. During this process, it struggled. Thus, the fire.

EDI is not controlling EVA, and never had the intention of. EVA attempted a confrontation, and the only way EDI could stop it was to "gain root access" to the body, this destroying EVA in the process, yielding   EDI (not a copy) a free body for the taking. EDI made her own modifications to it clearly (the visor for example).

It wasn't dropped.

The player was simply warned in advance.  WE were given conversation after conversation that foreshadowed the choice we would have to make.

The Catalyst merely tried to persuade us that such sacrifices were unneccesary... if we accepted it's "solution".

Its possible that EDI was compromised by Eva, or maybe even supplanted.  EDI certainly changes a lot post-Eva confrontation.

However, there's no evidence to support that, and the change in EDI can be attributed to a new perspective and freedom using the body.  She never does anything shady or sinister, at least that I've noticed.

I would be more catious regarding EDI and the EVA body was it not for the fact that EVA was using a backup power source and CPU against EDI who is drawing upon the combined power and CPU of the entire Normandy. Oh and EVA was made for infiltration where as EDI was specifically designed for Cyber-Warfare.

On that basis EVA dosent have even a small chance at overpowering EDI.

As EDI says in ME2: "In a battle between two AI the one with the most processing power wins."

I always saw the Dr. Eva bit as just an excuse to give EDI a body so she could be a squad member.

I've no doubt it's correct in at least some form. My problem is it never being followed up and left as a 'valid interpretation'. It's a brilliant cliffhanger, but not an ending.

It is an ending. You see, the game is about getting ready to strike back and wage real war on the reapers. - you go arounf the galaxy, making preparations, forging alliences, fixing thing where you can - making the best of thing. 
Whether Shepard is indoctrinated to some degree while doing this or whether the earth is a huge trap to take out all the galaxy has to offer all at once is irrelevant - You still have to do best of things that you can, and hope for the best. So really, by the time you attack kronos - presumably have done everything there is to be done, everything you could do. All you have left is to go face you enemy and fight the war. And mind you everything that you did - is for that moment to be possible - all those armies you have gethered, all those characters you've met and saved - they all have their own battles before them - their own war to fight - each allience, turian and volus frigate, each fighter sqaudron - so when you get to earth - they all have their own fight - and they are fighting it. So do you, but from that moment on, it is not war changing battle - it is just one battle of thousands just like it. Some are better, some are worse, some are tiny, some are epic. Some are important - some are not. And the thing is - yours - it kinda sucks, but the fight that Shepard gets to fight in this war - is really pointless and lame. But hey - those things happen in a war. and the best you can do about such a fight - is to survive it so you get to fight the next, which might be better and have more point to it. That is what the trouble most people have with the ending, but do not really realize it - you're not important anymore. (at least not that important, at least not in that particular battle. The only reason why this particular battle is important to your Shepard's story - is because it is the one  he's most likely to die in). That is what happens - Shepard dies in the beam run - (which could be a trap by indoctrinated agents btw, but really it doesn't matter) - Shepard dies, but the war goes on - and eventually reapers are defeated. 

The thing is - even if reapers plan to make Earth a trap for everyone - It is still a stand off. It is a trap - but you have no choice - you have to go - so the best you can do is to go with as much as you can, and hope that somehow it might be more than the reapers can handle. (which just might, like the logs on carberus from the from ashes DLC suggest)

I quickly lose interest if people don't come out and say what they are thinking.

Like back on the Retake Mass Effect facebook group, the guy kept making posts like "something big and amazing is coming!" for weeks on end. And eventually the annoucement was basically "we're moving to another website". Completely pointless, and it pissed off the entire group.

I know what you mean, and I don't like it. But it's nothing of the sort. It's just an experiment. I don't want people to come up with the same thing because I'm suggesting it. I want to see if I'm the only one crazy enough to have this thought.
