I think the realys in the ending cinematic symbolise synapse connaction in Shepard's brain. Si the indoctrination either spreads or is purged, but the purge itself does break those connections (i.e. brain damage)

edit: damn it..

IT is true, and we'll fight the Reapers with Shepard in ME4.

I thought they said absolutely no Shepard in Mass Effect 4?

BioWare says lots of things.

Plus the person who said that called Shepard 'Captain Shepard,' so you'll excuse me if I discount what they say.

Yup. They also said that the setting of the next game will be completely different from anything else they've made in the universe.

I must have missed that Captain Shepard part. I haven't been reading all the articles about it.

Have you played?:
-KOTOR

Because those would indicate that yes, they are that smart.

Around 200 pages to go until Chris locks the thread again. Lets hope he doesnt do it early, since I'm not gonna be around for the rest of the day.

Interesting idea Doomsday. It’s certainly possible and it would explain the breath scene to an extent

Also, personally I don’t think ME4 will be based around Shepard or the Reapers. I’m more of the belief we’ll be getting an expansion pack or something to ME3 that will wrap things up so Bioware can keep their word that ME3 will be the end to Shepards story but also follow through with all of the things they said would be in ME3, like the importance of the Rachni etc.

And if none of this is the case and implementation of IT or an expansion on the ending isn’t in their overall plans I’m going to quote JM and Evil Chris here, “Plans change”

If there’s little to no interest in ME4 or still too much bitterness and distrust towards the ME team, like I’m seeing in various threads to do with ME4 right now, something will have to be done to get the fans back on board and IT, or conventional victory, or both even, are the only ways that the series can be salvaged.

ME4 is very likely to be for the next gen so I'm also more inclined to believe we'll get a large expansion like Awakening, sometime in 2013.

My predictions for ME4:

- If you allowed Legion to upload the Reaper code (so you could have peace between Geth and Quarians and the war assets for both factions), you're screwed. Reaper-controlled Geth on the loose.

The Geth have been compromised in ME3, they need to be destroyed.

- If you cured the genophage with Wreav in charge, instead of Wrex, you're screwed. Krogan on the loose.

I'd believe it. I've only played the Mass Effect series and not any of their other games, but these guys are master story tellers.

Part of me is thinking they planned this whole thing from the start. I know the dark energy thing was the original ending, but they probably had a contingency plan, which was IT. You've always got to have one in case something happens.

Not to mention, there's a ton of IT evidence in Mass Effect 1. Maybe not as much as Mass Effect 3, but it's there.

btw, this time we know that the lockdown is coming and we're ready for it! Perhaps this is the cycle that will defeat Cris Pristly once and for all!

I think the dark energy ending was just the 'vehicle' for the same thing. They went with the 'synthetics-organics conflict' vehicle (which I like better), but both are merely ways of motivating people to willingly side with the Reapers.

So, the dark energy ending would have been just as much IT as what we got now, I'm sure.

Ah yes, "Chris Priestly." The all-powerful locker of threads supposedly lurking the forums.

We have dismissed that claim.

We have no hope of winning that battle, quick, I found these plans for a weapon over here. Let's use all of our resources to build it even though we don't know what it does. Then we can set it off when he attempts to lock the thread!
