Now let's thing back to ME1 - Sovereign used Saren (and dead saren at that) as his avatar! He controlled him directly though implants, and when we destroyed that avatar - he sort of died, at least enough for the fleet to destroy him.

Now, Harbinger tries to do the same with Shepard. So if we let him - all we have to do is to kill Shepard.

BTW, i bet if Saren was alive, when Sovereign took control of him, Saren's destruction would not be so bad on Sovereign himself - saren would serve as a buffer a bit.

i don't think Soverign entirely died.  I bet he was uploaded to the citadel. Here's why:

1-Reapers are an advanced synthetic civilization
2-EDI can be in several places at one time with no disruption to her network. When she dies as a squadmate, before you apply medigel, the Normandy doesn't crash or blow up.  Just her avatar is offline
3-Legion uploaded himself to the Geth consensus and his Avatar, aviLegion, falls over a hunk of metal.
Take a look at the ME1 ending you'll see something similar. What's the purpose for Sovereign's destruction, to have everyone lose him and not realize he's still there

ATTENTION IT TEAM. DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND, I HAVE CREATED A TOPIC IN THE IT GROUP WITH MY WORDS OF AWESOME DOCUMENT IN IT.

Warning: If you thought Arian's walls of text were impressive, wait until you see this.

ADDITIONAL WARNING: Make sure you play this music while you look at the scope of the post.

Words of Awesome™

That was INTENSE and I am so GLAD that I can now look in one area for all the mentions of dreaming and nightmares in ME3! /clap

Also I am chuffed that I apparently said something worthy of the list of Words of Awesome. Chuffed enough that I'm about to go FRIEND REQUEST ALL OF YOU ohgodForeverAlone. :P

But really, some of this stuff is GOLDEN and is clearly from discussions far before my time. Gonna go read it more in-depth...

Perhaps Omega IS the Prothean attempt at the Crucible?

Okay, now I'm stretching it. Where are those straws? xD

It's been considered before but omega was mostly built in this cycle. Doesn't mean it wasn't someone else's attempt at a crucible though.

Omega wasn't built in this cycle. Omega may not have been built during the Prothean cycle. The Protheans repurposed it

Do you ever read stuff you wrote in the past and think 'That sounds far too intelligent to be something I said"?

Because that happens to me all the time.

Not too much actually. Most of the stuff I wrote on it were simply posts that I hate repeating in text, so I saved them. That's how it got started.

Yet that's not really true. There's actually another layer. "Shepard" and "Indoctrinated". Are you going to bring the galaxy together, through Paragon or Renegade means? Or are you going to scatter and weaken it? Now THAT, that ...won't be reflected by simple red or blue colors...

That is actually how it really is. You can still bring the galaxy together AND not open yourself to indoctrination much. - but for that you need to combine renegade and paragon choices, and really make the choice not depending on renegade or paragon, but on the situation at hand.

Tinfoil idea:
What I thought was a bit of an design flaw was to show the EMS. Why that? Let the war assets' description be there as they are now, but let the EMS hidden.

Anyway, to the tinfoil idea:
What if there is a hidden Indoctrinated / Not-Indoctrinated counter such as the Paragon/Renegade counter in the game. This has no support nor evidence nor hint. It is just an idea.
Your choices in dialogue would trigger it, but there is no real pattern, you cannot influence that score just by always picking the top choice (as you'd do to get ultra Paragon for isntance), but by thinking about what you are saying?
Again, this is just crazy talk here. :)

Well, they can pull out before suffering those unexpected losses while still having damaged the fleets enough to require a massive rebuilding. It then becomes a race against time, how fast can you rebuild and keep the galaxy united while the Reapers are undermining all your efforts through indoctrinated agents. You would have to do everything you can to keep the different races trusting each other when sleeper agents from other governments start wreaking havoc. You would have to try and find a way to purge the leadership of other races of indoctrinated agents before engaging the Reapers when they return. It's still a highly tenuous situation

I like how some of your quotes lack any context at all, Banshee. It makes them way more funny.

Like Masster Blaster's 'Really people god damn it'

I feel like that every day.

Or Hrothdane's "****. THAT. ****."

Lets just acknowledge that the first thing everyone does when they go to that list is ctrl+f [Their Name].

Because thats totally what I did. :D

Yeah, I figured that's what would happen. Posted Image

Awe.... damn it :(
There posts of mine that I like, but I remember one specific post I made.
It was paraphrased something like this:
It is better to use your mind, question what is presented to you rather then being a sheep following everything without any skeptical thought.

But ten times more awesome. It was even "QFT" by others. Darn... it's somewhere out there...

Oh, you're right, it does go with the rest. The format kinda threw me off, but I really cant think of any way to fix that.

Other than going in and adding quote tags to each individual quote to separate them, but that'd take way too long.

Friendly neighbourhood crackpot speculator checking in.

I noticed some of my recent speculations caused some confusion.

Just for the record:

- I am not saying the breath scene is part of the illusion.
- I am not saying the crucible choices are a trap. You're not using the crucible, it's all in your mind. I'm saying that -if- EDI's story is an analogy for the destroy ending, then it means the destroy option was a defense mechanism of Shepard's brain, a violent response to the attempt to control him, the indoctrination attempt. The story seems to suggest that Harbinger did gain access though, even though you resisted, but it seems to be just partial access or basic level (not so advanced) of control. And seeing as you resisted, I reckon this gives you more of a fighting chance to get rid of the influence. Remember, if it's true that Harbinger controls you to some extent, then his control ends with his death. Simple as that. It could also be seen as an excuse to write Shepard out of the series, as he was compromised, but I don't think so.

Remember, it's just speculation.

Personally I think the Eden Prime datapads might be stronger than the EDI analogy, but hey - it's worth consideration, I think.

For those who are wondering what I'm talking about:

Do the From Ashes datapads reveal the entire plan Bioware has for the ending?

Is EDI foreshadowing what really happens in the destroy ending?

I like strategy games (lately SCII for fans out there [I know Demersel doesn't like it]). And if you consider that the Reapers don't seem to have a way of replenishing in dark space, they won't  have any kind of increase regarding their military strength. The galactic civilizations have the potential that has to be undermined - maybe by indoctrinated factions as you suggest. This could work. But I think it would be better for the Reapers to fall back with their ships, not risking them in any engagement that could go either way and let the indoctrinated wreak havoc as well. The retreat to dark space seems just a bit too - extreme to me.
Scaring the Reapers to not engage in a frontal war anymore, that would be logical. This would also change the pace of the war from Reaper roflstomping everything to a more balanced conflict where hideous and cunning tactics are even more important (i.e. indoctrination). Actually the Reaper invasion would turn into a war.
Such a paranoid scenario would really be awesome - at least in my opinion.

About EMS, it would have been good, but i think they were scared of the angry fans not knwoing what they had to do to pick a different ending...

About Indoctrinated counter, I love it, and the arguments and speculations would be so hilariously awesome as we all tried to claim each of us was the least indoctrinated...
